This was posted up by Karma not too long ago in one of the posts regarding people doing an investigation....

>>When we returned to the command center after the search I asked the search coordinators if Paul had come down there and they said no – but a long haired women - I am assuming it was his wife ran in and said to search McNight Road.

Sunday morning we went to McNight Road and there happens to be a “very crazy old man” who greets people who trespass with a shotgun – he apparently shooed off other searchers before us – the neighbor says he is pretty well known to locals and very scary – I do not know what Paul Opelts motive was for sending us there but we search the area and found nothing to indicate that anyone was or had been camping there.

All of the people searching on Friday and Saturday were pretty disturbed by this guy, in fact a couple of them on Friday were really scared.<<

The crazy old man on McKnight road might be my biological grandfather. I met him for the first time when I was 21 years old. He has lived in McCleary for a long long time, but he isn't really the type to be social or out and about in town. I can't imagine that he would be awake as late as 9:30 though, as I also heard he is dying of cancer. I don't speak with him. I feel it would be safe to assume that since he is so secluded to his house that Lindsey wouldn't know him.

Why would she post this? Why tell people online what the searchers are up to? Her biological Grandfather? Are you kidding me? I guess I am stunned as I am sitting here laughing like crazy, because it just does not get any crazier than this. There is a huge vein of insanity running through that town! Again, I know that there are exceptions. Does anyone know the name of the ex McCleary cop that  was charged with sex crimes? Was this another fabrication or a true incident? With all of the lies, true insanity and the like, I don't know what is true and what is not anymore. I have looked online so many times and have never found a thing! I am wondering if the crazy old guy could be him. As I have stated before, KK made it sound like she was new to McCleary from Arizona. We now know that she had been in Washington state before and has ties there. How long ago did KK post this? I am guessing that since it is out about Paul here and at WS, she knows that DD and others are going to look into all of these people. She probably knows that the crazy old guy is her grandfather and is putting it out there in advance in case someone makes the connection. So KK's brother and possibly her grandfather may have some "issues". KK is just one of so many in McCleary that are related to questionable individuals. Nothing about this case is earth shattering anymore. Poor Lindsey!

There we go, quotes are working for me today!

Not KK's crazy grandpa. My crazy biological grandfather. I'm glad to hear that McKnight road was searched. I figured that someone would mention my grandfather, I have heard about him greeting unwelcome visitors with shotguns, I sure hope he didn't greet the searchers the same way. I do not know the man very well.

Hi Jademoff,
I am so sorry! The way that I read it, I thought it was KK's grandfather. My bad! Monkey Devil!

Hi Jademoff,
I am so sorry! The way that I read it, I thought it was KK's grandfather. My bad! Monkey Devil!

When I read that about him, I didn't know if people were going to further investigate into that from the forums, cause a man  who will greet people with a shotgun is pretty scary. I wanted to take him some cookies for Christmas one year, but then I was told that's how he is, so I was like 'well bummer'.

So getting back to Lindsey, I've been reading a few places about the possibility of her being picked up for human trafficking. I feel like if that was the case, that if someone picked her up for that, they had to have been watching her for a while, they had to have known she was in route. Authorities believe that she was picked up by someone she knows, due to the fact there were no signs of struggle. I have heard that our bigger cities like Tacoma and Seattle have had trafficking of minors. And I've seen the seasons of McCleary, a lot of tourists from the big cities who come down to this area for the beaches and camping, doing stuff that the city doesn't offer them. And even in Shelton I observe the community of people around me, and lately I've been seeing a lot of people who speak different European languages like French and Scandanavian and then those who speak South American Languages like Spanish (Mexico) and Guatemalan languages (I think the most common Guatemalan language is called Mam). So seeing even this, it just makes me wonder, is Lindsey even still in the United States? As I've read about human trafficking, it says that commonly in this region that the mountain women of Guatemala area are commonly used in the trafficking business, and brought to places like Mexico and America because they don't speak the languages and can't reach out for help.

I sure hope that we have people from different countries looking at our posts, reading our theories, and ESPECIALLY looking at Lindsey's pictures.

A 47-year-old man accused of raping a missing Federal Way girl has been charged with kidnapping and several sex offenses.

In charging documents filed Friday, King County prosecutors say Christopher Noel Thomson abducted the 14-year-old sometime Saturday. During the three days that followed, prosecutors claim, Thomson sexually assaulted the girl at a Milton motel.

The girl's family reported her disappearance Saturday evening, saying the girl had vanished without explanation. They were suspicious in part, according to court documents, because the teen had no history of running away.

She remained missing until the following Monday afternoon, when Milton police received a 911 call from the Daffodil Motel, at 7909 Pacific Highway E.

Speaking with detectives, the girl said she had been standing in the parking lot of a tattoo parlor when Thomson approached her. She was working as a prostitute at the time, she told police, and agreed to have sex with Thomson for money.

Concerned for her safety, the girl refused to get in Thomson's van, according to police statements. Thomson then pulled her into the back of the van and locked the door, which could not be unlocked from inside.

Inside the van, Thomson told the girl "she was now his daughter," Federal Way Detective Richard Kim said in court documents. Thomson then showed the girl a pistol, Kim added, and threatened to kill her if she tried to escape.

In the days that followed, Kim said, Thomson and the girl bounced among five motels and that he sexually assaulted her multiple times. Thompson made the girl repeatedly change her clothes in front of him and made her practice signing a false name including his surname.

Recalling the girl's statement, Kim told the court that Thomson also forced her to smoke what she believed to be methamphetamine laced with a second drug. Neither slept during the girl's three days in captivity.

The girl said she was able to call 911 only after Thomson momentarily stepped out of the room. Police arrested Thomson minutes later driving his van in the area.

Asked if he was staying at the Daffodil Motel, Thomson allegedly said he was.

"He stated that he was there with his daughter, but hesitated with her name," Kim said in court documents. "Eventually, he said … he didn't know her birthday, because of an old head injury."

Frisking Thomson, police found a key to the room in which the girl had said she was held as well as a cellular phone containing nude photos of the girl, according to court documents. After obtaining a warrant, police searching the room found several knives, a digital camera and drug paraphernalia described by the girl.

Writing the court, Senior Deputy Prosecutor Charles Sergis asked that Thomson be held on $1 million bail.

"The current offense was an extremely violent offense, accomplished with the use of a firearm," Sergis said. "In addition, the defendant knew the victim was 14-years old."

Thomson, who also goes by Christopher Thompson, has been charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a minor. He remains jailed on $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 25.

Thank you for letting us know about that, Nut.  I'm hoping it isn't Lindsey.  It's going to be bad news for some folks whether it's Lindsey or not, and for that I'm so sorry.   an angelic monkey

Well, the Federal Way body could even be Susan Powell...Josh drove that rental car many, many miles in the short time he had it Wink
~~~~~~~~~~~
Edward....here is possibly one answer to your question above.....
There are 98,058 open missing cases in the United States and there are 4,400 unidentified remains (+/-) found every year and more than 1,000 of these remain unidentified. There may be more than 40,000 human remains that are unidentified in the United States alone right now. Homicide is the number one cause of death for the unidentified and one of the primary reasons for missing people.
I'm really curious about this as well. It will take them a few months for sure.
I'm more curious about the man in Federal Way. Federal way is about an hour north of McCleary. If that 14 year old girl was a prostitute...... did they find out if she was doing it on her own or if she had a pimp?
I have not come across a report that states the Federal Way remains are male. May I ask where you read that?
Well, the Federal Way body could even be Susan Powell...Josh drove that rental car many, many miles in the short time he had it Wink
Edward....here is possibly one answer to your question above.....
There are 98,058 open missing cases in the United States and there are 4,400 unidentified remains (+/-) found every year and more than 1,000 of these remain unidentified. There may be more than 40,000 human remains that are unidentified in the United States alone right now. Homicide is the number one cause of death for the unidentified and one of the primary reasons for missing people.
Ah yes......Edward, here is another possible reason
Backlog swells at Washington state crime lab
January 17, 2010
A dearth of trained firearms ballistics examiners at the Washington State Patrol Crime Laboratory Division has clogged the justice system and created backlogs of up to a year.
On average, it now takes state experts more than six months to complete ballistics tests in cases involving firearms. Detectives often wait up to a year for results.
That means delays in bringing answers to crime victims, or their families.
Now, confronted with a soaring state budget shortfall, Gov. Chris Gregoire has proposed cutting jobs from the crime lab.
"Everybody's in the same leaky boat," said Larry Hebert, the state crime lab's acting director. "The tricky part is not being the one to sink the boat."
The state crime lab is actually seven labs throughout the state, including one in Marysville, with about 150 employees. All the fat already has been trimmed from its budget, Hebert said. Any more would eat away muscle and may mean a reduction in the kind of services it provides.
"It takes time to do a thorough, thoughtful job," he said.
The science of fighting crime isn't like TV shows where complex lab work takes minutes. Much of the work is painstakingly slow, Hebert said. A diligent ballistics examiner, for example, may process about eight cases a month.
Processing evidence within a month of when it is collected by police is the lab's acceptable standard, Hebert said. But of the six different kinds of analysis conducted by the state lab, the one-month deadline is met in only two areas.
Testing for DNA on average takes two months. Fingerprint exams take about 47 days. Microanalysis - looking at fibers, shoe prints and other evidence - can take about five months.
"While those backlogs exist, there are a lot of new victims, and victims of older crimes, that are not getting justice," said Lawrence Kobilinsky, a professor and chairman of the Department of Sciences at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
State law mandates the crime lab's existence. Local police departments don't pay for evidence they collect to be processed.
It takes about $17 million each year to run the sophisticated laboratories, money that comes primarily from the state's general fund.
There are private laboratories that do forensic testing, but the costs are extraordinary, Hebert said. Processing DNA can run in the thousands of dollars and firearms testing can cost about $2,000 a case.
When local police or prosecutors turn to those labs, they must foot the bill.
Hebert said the state crime lab would be forced to either eliminate services or reprioritize the kinds of crimes it investigates should budget cuts require layoffs.
Officials already are selective about what types of cases they send to the lab. In 2009 the lab stopped processing leaf marijuana cases and instead trained officers to identify the substance in the field and then testify about the evidence in court, Hebert said.
Should further reductions be necessary, the lab may have to narrow its focus to priority cases such as violent felonies, he said.
The backlogs haven't prevented the lab from rallying to meet trial deadlines or help locate dangerous suspects.
Key evidence was processed in days to help Seattle police apprehend Christopher Monfort, the man accused of killing Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton, who lived in Marysville. By contrast, tests results are pending in most of the fatal shootings by police in Snohomish County last year.
State forensic experts place a priority on making sure cases are ready for trial, Snohomish County Prosecutor Mark Roe said.
"When we have a case going to trial, they get it done, often by burning the midnight oil, ignoring their families, probably, and just getting it done," Roe said. "Only rarely is trial delayed."
Having state crime lab investigators respond with local detectives in the disappearance and killing of Sherry Harlan earlier this month was critical, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The information they gathered likely will be used in the criminal case.
Still, the backlog at the labs regularly delays investigations and charging decisions, Roe said.
The backlog is felt by detectives too, Hover said.
"We have some cases in our office that are awaiting forensics results from the lab and not just the firearms ballistics department," Hover said. "I'm sure that's true for other agencies as well."
One reason for the backlog is the difficulty in finding qualified firearms ballistics examiners. That problem isn't limited to Washington.
Nationally, the FBI lab has a backlog of about 300 ballistics cases, special agent Ann Todd said. It's taking about four months on average to turn around results.
Federal agents used to be able to help state and local crime laboratories with backlog issues.
"At this time, based on current staffing levels, we are no longer in a position to offer this type of assistance to our crime laboratory partners," Todd said.
The state lab in Idaho must send firearms examinations out of state for peer review, because the state has only one trained person on staff, said Anne Nord, a lab manager in Coeur d'Alene.
Oregon State Police have a handle on their ballistics cases but, like Washington, are behind in processing DNA, said Glen Spencer, a forensic supervisor at the crime lab in Portland.
They have the equipment, but not the trained workers.
"We do understand the time it takes to train new people. That's really where the rub is," he said.
Robots and sophisticated computers are used to extract and identify DNA evidence. In contrast, ballistics exams come down to a highly trained set of eyes peering at bullet fragments through a comparison microscope, Kobilinsky said.
The apprenticeship for firearms examiners can take up to three years, while a DNA examiner can be trained in six months.
Only after years of training can examiners link bullet fragments to a specific weapon and testify as experts in court.
Even so, the field is moving to bring quantitative and objective resources to firearms exams, Kobilinsky said.
"There's an issue of whether the whole field of ballistics can demonstrate that the conclusions are scientifically based and reliable," he said.
That's likely to take resources and time.
Meanwhile, Washington has four ballistics examiners training right now.
Hebert said he hopes that the lab will be fully staffed and backlogs reduced by this time in 2011.
It’s a matter of public safety, he said.
"To us it's more than just numbers, because we live in these communities," he said. "That's our back yard, too."
I don't know if this works but you could try it.  I'm sure you have to pay something to get the final report:
mandibabe ~ you can also request military records throught the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) even if you are not next of kin or a relative, they will give you limited information such as rank and service dates & locations.  Anyone who would like more information:
