Deenie, if you were to repaint the kitchen, you might be inclined to buy a totally different rug. I personally like the rag rug, but is it going along with the rest of the place? I really like that artwork, did you do it?

I have to share a funny Thanksgiving Story (( related to Doggy's))

My Mother lives in Condo's that ever other one is exactly alike in exterior not color scheme. She lives in the middle of nowhere off a long country road.

was Weds night she heard "scratching at her front door" so she opened the door to find this Lost Dog .. who was defiant " let me in"..  so she let him in. or Her. A small old dog, very sweet an loving. The dog went through the lower level walked around, went into her kitchen, sniffed her cats.. and ate the cats food. Said I want to leave now. Went to the front door as I am ready to go. .. My Mom was like  What do I do. The Dog really wanted out and to leave.

The dog had no collar was not underfed nor appeared in ill health - so she let him/her out.
Next Night Thurs Same thing

A Dog comes to her Door was scratching - I want in - Was not the Same Dog. Yet was an Old Dog very Sweet and Nice. Came in did the once around. Met the cats and ate their food and wanted out.  Well this dog had a Collar on and had a phone number. My Mom called the Number and it was a cell phone. It rang to the neighbor 2 doors down - Who had OUT of Town guests staying ( that had 3 old dogs with Her) she had let them out .. and allowed them to wander * shame on her.

All the Dogs found their way back and are Safe.
But My Mother was thinking  - UM What am I the Doggy Howard Johnson's ??

Your Mom sounds like she's got a furbaby heart!

What a cute story. I really believe animals mark the houses that feed them so others can get a free meal too.

Yes, Deenie. I do. I think you can use it even if you change colors. From the picture, it looks like some texture would work well in the room, too, and that rug is full of it. Don't expect it to "lighten" up the room much, because the colors aren't light in it, but it will match for now, and look good when you choose a lighter paint.

Shell has a point, Deenie. Have you thought about what color to paint?

The artwork Shell your seeing is prob in my basement - which NO I did not create. I got it At Homegoods Store for 60.00 - Could not even create that myself for less than.
I love that painting - I do however have a painting that I want to hang in my kitchen that I have literally been toting around for the last 13 yrs. I can't even believe its still in its fine condition.

My loved Artwork - Painted by a local artist who lives in Acapulco. The actual print was purchased in Acapulco by my Mom. She had it framed for me.

the kitchen before remodel - was all about 5x6 - two people got in a fist fight standing in it - NO room

Wow - how cool is it turning out!  I remember my ex and I bought an old school house thinking it would be wonderful to fix up and make a house - it was cool when we got done but a pain in the behind doing it!

Justice for Natalee

I was going to post this in Natalee's thread but thought it might be a little off topic. I want to know if any of you would go?

http://www.dailyfinance.com/2009/11/28/when-thailand-is-in-network-u-s-employers-embrace-medical-to/

Thailand is 'in network'? Employers and insurers embrace medical tourism

Like some 47 million other Americans, Nancy Sowa (pictured) doesn't have health insurance. So when her doctors last year told her she needed a total hip replacement, the office manager for a non-profit did what a growing number of U.S. citizens are doing: She headed abroad. At Wockhardt Hospital in Bangalore, India, the 56-year-old was put up in a hospital "suite" far swankier than what she would typically find in the U.S., with a computer, fridge, cable TV, sitting area and an extra bed for her travel companion.

More to the point, the two-hour surgery in July, performed by an orthopedic surgeon trained in the U.S. and Australia, was a success. Four months later, the Durham, N.C. resident is feeling like her old self again, going for long hikes and planning her next vacation. The final tab for the procedure, including rehabilitative therapy and round-trip airfare for two? $12,000. That's a fraction of the $45,000 to $90,000 she had been told the surgery would cost at home.
