THE FLORAL BATHING SUIT

When I consider the “floral bathing suit” … could this be the reason behind the search of Kona’s properties.

Maybe DD can answer:

1.  Does Kona’s son own a quad/three wheeler?.

2.  Could Kona’s son have been at the swimming party?

3.  Considering Lindsey was witnessed in her bathing suit … not jeans and a hoodie … riding on the quad/three wheeler … could Kona’s son have given Lindsey a ride earlier that day?

4.  Considering LE states that the  “family of four” cooperated fully with the search effort … could the attorney which Kona retained be all about an earlier connection between Lindsey and her son.

I do not know this poster and ... without backup would most likely disregard his/her words but ... according to DD ... a search warrant issued this past weekend in the Lindsey Baum case listing a floral bathing suit implies ... in my opinion ... some connection.  However ... considering the quad/three wheeler witness states that Lindsey was wearing her bathing suit ... not jeans and a hoodie ... I do not believe the sighting on the quad/three wheeler took place after 9:30 PM on the evening of June 26, 2009.

... I had heard from a friend who works at the ORV park that someone thinks they saw Lindsey on one of the trails in Capital Forest on Saturday wearing a pink floral bathing suit and with a man on a quad or 3 wheeler. My friend said they've been doing searches in that area and checking every vehicle coming in and out as best they can.

I am inclined to give LE the benefit of the doubt that the search had a credible foundation of suspicion or a judge would never have approved the warrant.

Considering LE concedes that nothing which appears to be case related was found in the search ... I cannot comprehend why it is claimed that a member of this family is being framed.  I assume that framed would imply that planted evidence would have be located.  Also ... the neighbours appear to uphold the family.

It has not been revealed ... as far as I know ... what the "wrong" answer the young man gave LE.  Could it be that the wrong answer arouse suspicion and therefore it was the catalyst which resulted in the search warrant.

The LE appear to be damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Police have yet to find big break in case
By Steven Friederich
The Daily World

Chief Criminal Deputy Dave Pimentel said he conducted interviews with a number of people Friday, but said no suspects or persons of interests have been named and no arrests have been made.

“So far, we have not found that smoking gun, we have not found anything that would jump out at us, but without forensic analysis done at the lab, we can’t really say whether what we’ve found will help our cause or not.”

<snipped>

Pimentel noted that although the search warrants are getting a lot of attention, the Sheriff’s Office has “served dozens of search warrants” during the course of the three-month investigation.

“This is just one tip we’ve received that we decided to follow up on out of thousands, literally, thousands of tips,” Pimentel said. “The people we talked to yesterday were among the hundreds and hundreds of people we’ve talked to, as well.”

Pimentel said the next step is sending the dozens of boxes and bags of evidence on to the state’s crime lab for forensic analysis.

Family Says They Are Unfairly Targeted In McCleary Search
Posted: 4:29 pm PDT September 28, 2009
Updated: 7:40 pm PDT September 28, 2009

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- After two days of intense searching at a home and property outside McCleary, investigators said it appears they found no significant evidence that will help find 11-year-old Lindsey Baum.

The owner of the property told KIRO 7 reporter Richard Thompson that he’s contacted a lawyer about suing the police and the media, saying they had no right to put the family through the search.

Baum’s mother said she is disappointed that nothing was found relating to her daughter, who has been missing for three months.

"I was obviously really hoping something would come from the search," said Melissa Baum.

Law enforcement sources told KIRO 7 that among the evidence collected during the search were condoms and pornographic magazines. A car was also seized and will undergo further forensic testing.

The homeowner of the property said his family has been unfairly targeted in the search, "they didn't find anything here because we didn't do anything to that little girl."

Relatives confirm a man at the house was the focus of the investigation and search. One of his relatives said, "the only reason they were doing this search is, he gave a wrong answer to a question by a detective on the telephone."

Detectives insisted Monday they were acting on credible evidence when they got the search warrant for the property on Friday.

Lindsey's mother said she understands the family's frustration, but her daughter's life is at stake.

"If they end up being completely innocent, I'm sorry. But at the same time, my daughter is missing," she said.

Lindsey disappeared June 26 while walking home from a friend’s house.

Person of interest in girl's disappearance

Investigators now call the man whose home was searched over the weekend in the Lindsey Baum case a person of interest.

Steve Shumate with the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office says they are not calling the man a suspect, "There were a number of things, I think in general terms, it was just some inconsistencies with respect to what he had said."

Shumate says evidence gathered at his home still needs to be analyzed. The man was interviewed by police and then released.

The man has now threatened suit against law enforcement for being wrongfully targeted.

I have believe from the getgo that there must have been a credible foundation for the search this past weekend.  A judge would not have approved the warrant otherwise.

Nevertheless ... it has to be remembered that the guage is on "person of interest" not "suspect".

IF the pornographic material that was seized was child porn ... a "person of interest" label is justified.

I realize that child porn possession is illegal but ... so is possession of illegal drugs and ... it does not appear there was any arrest.

Why would adult porn be seized during the search?

Thanks

I do have the search warrant and the receipts for items taken.

I am answering what I have permission to answer.

It seems to me they were searching for anything that might let them know if linsey had either been in the house at any time or anything to link someone there to lindsey.  Nothing out of the ordinary except for the swimming suit.  I'll see what else I can post.

the only drugs was a tiny bit of pot and a pipe.  big deal.

DD, if I read correctly, you learned the family contacted LE and asked if they wanted them to come in as well as search their property.  But they never heard back from them until the search warrants were executed.  Do  you have any idea why that was?
TIA

The implication appears to be that Kona and family realized that they were one of the areas of focus in the investigation and ... were not opposed to an search of their home and property.

I cannot comprehend the threatened lawsuit.

What am I missing?

So when all is said and done ... Marilyn Lachester was not fabricating in her account regarding an unidentified/unknown person in a white vehicle who appeared to be stalking young girls.

Could it be that her other comments revealed the truth regarding the troubling dynamics in the Baum household?

Considering the truth regarding the disappearance of Lindsey Baum is not known ... I feel that each Monkey on the forum should "feel" the freedom to speculate in his/her own way.

I believe with all my heart that LE has a foundation from which suspicion of this young man has been drawn from ... suspicion that has deemed him a person of interest.  Something akin to many persons of interest in criminal cases ... the investigative process will either clear this young man or ... it will determine if he is a suspect.

However ... when I consider the witness sighting of Lindsey at Maple and Fifth ... minutes from home ... minutes from Mom and brother ... I believe the focus of the investigation should have be closer to home prior to moving outward.  Considering Melissa B and Josh B. were waiting at the end of Lindsey journey ... considering the known family dynamics ...  were these two ever deemed at some point in time persons of interest?

To answer the questions everyone has asked, Yes I have talked to police and as far as things being unfounded its more of lazy work by cps and I don't know what the police were thinking. Since Lindsey has gone missing I have helped serch and put fliers up. I was called by the agents investigating and told them what I know. And this is no nick name everyone in McCleary knows who I am. Its no big secret she had came to my house to call 911 when her brother had done things to her. I hope lindsey is hiding and she finds a way to get to someone for help to tell them why. But as everyday gose by the fear gets worse.

... One time she called CPS on melissa baum when lindsey came over with welts from her calfs to her back.  she was horrified and i think a couple others saw this at her house.  the other incidents with Josh were chasing her with knife, shovel, choking, and at least one other attack against another individual (and here i forgot to write it down, i think it was a female but can't recall if it was an adult or child, but marilyn made the call).  she says he was very violent and went to Juvi many times!  hmm.  anyway, i don't think she's lying, that's a whole lot to be lying about.

I believe that a search warrant was justified but ... everything outliked in the following article was known to LE from the getgo.  What took LE three months to obtain a search warrant.  If this young many was involved in wrongdoing in regards to the disappearance of Lindsey Baum ... he was afforded three months to destroy the evidences.

Why McCleary Man Is Person Of Interest In Missing Girl Case
Posted: 4:05 pm PDT October 2, 2009
Updated: 4:26 pm PDT October 2, 2009

MCCLEARY, Wash. -- Court documents released Friday revealed what led police to consider a McCleary man a person of interest in the disappearance of 11-year-old Lindsey Baum.

Police last week searched a home where the man lives to look for evidence in the case.

According to a search warrant affidavit prepared by prosecutors, the man gave four different stories about his whereabouts the night Baum disappeared.

Police said the man exhibited strange behavior, including a disturbing statement he made to a friend the day after Baum disappeared.

"A friend said that he thought she had been kidnapped, killed and cut-up, as I recall," said Sgt. Steve Shumate of the Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office.

The documents also indicated a car similar to the one the man drives was seen nearby at the time of Lindsey's disappearance. Friends said the man was obsessed with the case and that he was pulled over by police after following Lindsey's Baum's mother through town.

The sheriff's office said it knows the search was hard on the family that lives in the home, but deputies said they are "doing everything in our power and our legal authority to find Lindsey Baum."

The man's family said police found nothing of significance during the search because the man is innocent.

A family member told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Richard Thompson that the man "didn't do it."

"When he does talk about it, he cries because he's not that kind of a person," said the family member who did not want to be identified.

Lindsey Baum disappeared on June 26 during a walk home from her friend's house.

Family feels targeted in missing McCleary girl's case
10:45 PM PDT on Friday, October 2, 2009
By TRICIA MANNING-SMITH / KING 5 News

McCLEARY, Wash. - A McCleary family claims they're unfairly targeted and harassed by police officers connected to the case of missing Lindsey Baum.

Friday, a tearful mother and an angry father defended their son who was the subject of a search warrant at their rural McCleary home, related to the disappearance of 11-year-old Lindsey Baum.

Court documents released Friday relate why detectives believed the son could be Baum's kidnapper.

Witnesses told detectives that the man obsessed about Baum's disappearance and expressed his belief that a girl had been "dismembered."

Officers, however, found nothing nothing to back that up.

According to court papers, witnesses also reportedly told officers they saw the man's car near where Baum disappeared on June 26 in McCleary.

A month later, officers pulled over the same man for following the mother of the missing girl around town.

While officers executed these search warrants last week, Melissa Baum continued to hope for a break in the case.

"There's hope. I know she's alive and she'll come home," she said.

According to court documents, the man also gave detectives several different stories about his whereabouts when Baum disappeared.

The man's parents told KING 5 that their son got confused because detectives interviewed him more than a month after Baum vanished. Therefore, he apparently could not remember many specific details that far back.

Court documents show detectives seized property from the man's home last weekend, including computers, paperwork, drug paraphernalia and a sex toy.

Detectives say they now have no suspect or person-of-interest, but they do have a lot of leads and a girl who seemingly vanished without a trace.

The affidavit for the search warrant also says that the man was a former suspect in the attempted rape of a child when he was 14, but he was not given a formal decision in the case.
