Hi All.  Prayers go out to the families and community.  How horrific.

Just a update on me.  I have my son with the collapsed lung staying with me and they confirmed today that he has H1N1 which he more than likely picked up at the hospital while he was waiting for his xrays on Saturday night.  I am not on line a lot as I have my hands full.

Prayers to you and your son Northern. I am so glad he is at home with you. 

I am as well.  He phoned me on Tuesday morning and begged me to come get him.  He said he was starving and one look at him you could see he was also dehydrated, his dad had not been looking after him even though they are under the same roof.  Son was not well enough to go up stairs to the kitchen to make himself something to eat and his dad was not going downstairs to see if he needed anything. 

Just to top thinks off Norbert came yesterday .  So we had Norbert roast for dinner and he was nummy!  Make cracklings as well which are so good!

Your poor son. I would like to kick your ex in the cajones for not fixing your son supper.

Press conference: Lt General Bob Cone is going to speak: First shooter was killed. He was a soldier. Apprehended two other soldiers, who are suspected shooters.  12 dead, 31 injured... at
soldier Readiness Center. All were killed and injured at the first shooting. One police officer was killed with Fort Hood civilian police.

A mass shooting at Fort Hood Thursday has resulted in nine deaths and as many as 20 wounded.

A City of Killeen spokesperson has confirmed three shooters were involved. Officials said one is in custody and two are at-large.

Shots were reported after the initial shooting at Comanche 4 Housing Unit.

Officials at Fort Hood confirmed that more than one shooter fired shots into the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center and Howze Theater on Fort Hood.

Fort Hood did not confirm information about the two soldiers not in custody or the exact number of fatalities or wounded, but said emergency personnel responded to the scene and evacuated several wounded.

A spokeswoman with Scott & White health center confirmed that the hospital is receiving patients from Fort Hood who have gunshot wounds.

News reports indicated the attack could have been a terrorist attack, however, NBC's Pete Williams reported a federal official has said early indications suggest that the incident involved "all military, both shooters and victims."

The Fort Hood post is on lockdown, officials said. Multiple news sources said sirens are sounding to let everyone know to remain indoors.

There are nine schools on the base. The elementary schools on the base were released before the incident, and the remaining schools are on lockdown, but all are confirmed safe. Lockdown means nobody is allowed in or out of the schools.

All Temple Independent School District schools have been put on soft lockdown, authorities said.
         

Fort hood officials are in the process of accounting for everyone on the base.

The mass shooting is not the first to plague the Killeen-Fort Hood area.

Up until the Virginia Tech Massacre of April 2007, the Luby’s Cafeteria Massacre in Killeen marked the most deadly shooting rampage in U.S. history.

On Oct. 16, 1991, George Jo Hennard drove his pick-up truck into a Luby’s Cafeteria and then shot and killed 23 people, wounding another 20. He then committed suicide by shooting himself.

All 23 victims were from Central Texas.

In response to the massacre, the Texas Legislature passed a “shall-issue” gun law in 1995 which required that all qualifying applicants be issued a concealed handgun license, removing the personal discretion of the issuing authority to deny such licenses.

Scott & White is the only level 1 trauma hosp. between San Antonio, Houston & Dallas.  Probably why they are being sent there.
  I have sister that used to work for S & W, and now works at the VA hospital.   She hasn't answered my text.

Thanks Muffy. I didn't realize S & W was level 1 trauma. Last time I was in Temple I did notice how big the hospital had grown.
