Hey Tevye.    I almost didn't see you.My laptop is so little I can't see the whole forum screen.I really shoulfd use my desk top.    But then I would have to walk upstairs,and that is so far away from the kitchen.

   I want 10 kids to watch this and then go on their weekly trip to the store with their parents.   
I have to admit my nephew and I have sang the Chiquita Banana song in the store before.     His mom shouldn't take so da*n long buying food.

I have to say I hadn't thought about it either.We have such long waits on some of this info.Little bit here and there.Then we move around the forum reading everywhere about all the other cases.We lose our focus.

President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the H1N1 influenza a national emergency, giving doctors and medical facilities greater leeway in responding to the flu pandemic.

Obama signed the declaration late Friday, which the White House said allows medical treatment facilities to better handle a surge in flu patients by waiving federal requirements on a case-by-case basis.

"The foundation of our national approach to the H1N1 flu has been preparedness at all levels -- personal, business, and government -- and this proclamation helps that effort by advancing our overall response capability," the White House said in a statement.

The flu has infected millions of Americans and killed nearly 100 children in the U.S. The chief of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that over a thousand people have died as a result, with 46 states reporting widespread H1N1 activity.
"Since the beginning of the pandemic, we've seen more than 1,000 deaths and 20,000 hospitalizations," said Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the CDC. "We expect it to occur in waves, but we can't predict when those waves will happen."

Sixty million Americans have been vaccinated against the seasonal flu this year, but an additional vaccine against H1N1 has been in short supply. About 120 million doses were expected to be made available by the middle of October, though only 11 million doses have been shipped to health departments for use.

I was at my doctor's office a few days ago to get my seasonal flu vacine.  I didn't intend to get the H1N1 vacine because some years ago I helped register people for the vacine during another swine flu scare.  I think it was in 71-72.  Anyway, when I read the paper I was to have people sign, it listed a number of possible side effects which sounded worse than the flu, including death.  I decided not to get that vacine either.  One of my friends whom I had registered got Guillame-barre' and was very ill in a respirator for some time, although he recovered with some residual nerve ending damage.  But while I was waiting for my shot last week, I read a poster detailing just who could have the vacine.  It said if the vacine was in short supply, young children and pregnant women could have it.  If there is no shortage, everyone else was eligible to get it except those 64 and over. 

Is this the first attempt to do away with those of us on Medicare? I wouldn't put it past them.

My son is really sick today, but it all seems to still be in his head. He has always broken out with a rash when he has fever, and he is getting the rash on his arms and legs, but not much fever yet. Now I am getting worried.

I'm not sure how to answer your question, but I do believe Fanny was told by the doctor something about not having to get the Swine Flu shot, I'm sure she will say, I thought that if you were around during the first Swine Flu that you have antibodies where you wouldn't need to get it, or I misunderstood the report, which is probably the case  All four times that my husband got a flu shot, he came down with the flu almost right away, but the last flu shot he became very ill and that is when they saw a mass on his lung, so for him that last flu shot saved his life. Me, never had a flu shot, and don't intend to, I'm allergic to so many things, and get weird reactions, that I'm afraid to.
