I think this could all be solved fairly easily.  However, it's Sunday afternoon, and I'm not sure who I could catch on the phone right now.  I believe the event took place in Bastrop, and there is a local paper, The Bastrop Advertiser, but I'm not certain a small paper would cover the event unless they were invited.  The Bastrop Advertiser is owned by Cox, who also owns the much larger American-Statesman.  This may have been a small venue, and is a lot going on in the area.  I'm not certain something like this would show up in the Austin Chronicle, which also carries a lot of news about music. 

From what I saw on Sam Watkins site, donations were being directed to TES.  I checked TES website, and didn't see any mention of the event there, but then, we are a couple of weeks later, and also not sure how much the site is kept updated.  I say it just needs more research before people start getting trashed, especially if they did something good toward Haleigh.  JMHO

This band may be small and low key, and may not have a management company, PR group and etc.  This costs money.  Promoters cost money.  There are so many bands in the area.  One of my brothers has a band and they pay small venues.  They don't get paid very much for their gigs, but they do it because they enjoy it.  They have day jobs, and don't want to pay a PR firm.  They also occasionally play charity gigs, and believe it or not, it wasn't covered in the paper.  Some papers will run something if they are given the story.  They once bought an add in a local paper for $50.00, and after that, the paper made mention of them the next week.  It can be hard to get newspaper people out to watch your band and review it.  JMHO  So, what I'm saying is, just because it wasn't written up doesn't mean it didn't happen.  There are ways to verify it, and it may not necessarily be via newspaper.  Again, JMHO.

Brandi...go over to Topix and read all about it...a previous  poster from there who went on to have his own site I believe, is not being said to be a child molester...they have all the info over there...
