Good morning MONKS.
I have never understood why DC is determined not to testify. Surely he has been subpoenaed, so he has limited immunity.
We can assume he has yet to be paid by anyone.  He could have his own payday by writing a book/interviews ect.
I $ee more benifits to him to tell the truth, what am I missing?

Hi.  IIRC, there was some talk/rumor of DC having a little fling with CA.     Maybe that is his reason for not wanting to testify?
JMOO.....I think it has more to do with unethical and illegal actions he is involved in, in this case. It started before his search of the woods, but that search, with him stating he was going to go get Caylee, is the reason, I believe. How many are involved in that?.....I feel many are. We all know how controlling and threatening Cindy is, and I think she has been the reason for his blatant refusal to answer questions and show up for depositions, much like we have seen from Cindy.
If he is subpoenaed, he HAS limited immunity, that will cover him for any "unethical/illigal actions" and we know this is the case from his filings against Jo$e.
If there was something going on between him & CA, I doubt that is still the case now.

If his original rea$on$ for in$erting him$elf into this case was cash, he would be better off telling the truth and collecting cash for HIMSELF.

i agree plus i do believe they would ask him about Cindy as it IS relevant. Especially if she was the one who told him to go there because she trusted him after their "undercover" action

Casey’s Lawyer Questions Man Who Found Caylee
Thursday, November 19, 2009 1:23:25 PM
Reported by Adam Longo

ORLANDO -- Casey Anthony’s defense team has finally been given the chance to question the man who found the remains of Casey’s daughter, Caylee.

Roy Kronk, a former Orange County meter reader, discovered the 2-year-old’s body in a wooded area near the Anthony home in December 2008.

The defense has waited almost a year to question Kronk, who made the first 911 call after finding Caylee’s remains, and has also claimed to have spotted “something suspicious” in the same area in August 2008.

Defense lawyer Jose Baez said his team plans on spending a considerable amount of time with Kronk Thursday.

“We’ll be here all day,” Baez told reporters before the deposition.

Kronk was not scheduled to be deposed until 9 a.m. Thursday, but he showed up at the Orange County Courthouse around 8:10 a.m., hoping to avoid reporters -- though he was not successful.
The public has only gotten glimpses of Roy Kronk in the last year -- at the crime scene, at a press conference a week later, then on “Good Morning America,” after he was paid thousands of dollars -- whether that payoff was for a photo or an interview remains debatable.

Kronk said nothing on his way inside. His county-paid attorney, David Evans, said very little, and even Baez had little to say as they all headed into the courthouse Thursday.

When News 13 asked Baez how crucial Kronk was to his defense, he replied, “We’re not going to talk right now. We got to get going.”

Baez told reporters he would talk after the deposition.

Also at the deposition was Professor Andrea Lyon, whom Baez brought on board for her death penalty experience.

Prosecutor Jeff Ashton was also present for the deposition, which was initiated by the defense.

Kronk was recently fired from his job for being absent too many times.

The deposition is not the first time Kronk has made statements about finding the Caylee’s body:

New Anthony Defense Team Member Seen
P.I. Looking Into Past Of Man Who Found Caylee's Remains

POSTED: Thursday, November 19, 2009
UPDATED: 1:42 pm EST November 19, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla.-- The man who found the remains of Caylee Anthony was deposed on Thursday by Casey Anthony's defense team, which has added a private investigator to its lineup.

A new member of the defense team was seen entering the courtroom on Thursday. Mort Smith is a Chicago-based private investigator who teaches his skills at DePaul University, the same school where fellow defense team member Andrea Lyon teaches.

Smith has been digging into Kronk's personal life for the past several months in an effort to uncover information that might discredit the former meter reader, or at least cast doubt on his story of how he found Caylee.

http://barbarasblogspot.blogspot.com/2008/05/sister-helen-prejean-and-dennis-fritz.html

May 31, 2008

On Thursday, May 22, noted authors’ Dennis Fritz and Sister Helen Prejean, teamed up together in Chicago, Illinois, to speak at the Saint Vincent Catholic Church at DePaul University—against the arbitrary use of the death penalty.
This long-awaited event represented a powerful combination of these two people (along with other key, death penalty abolitionists), whose sole objective(s) are to bring about the much-needed, greater awareness against the use of the death penalty.

Sister Helen Prejean is the author of Dead Man Walking, which was turned into a major motion picture in the middle 90’s. Her later released book, The Death of Innocents, is a powerful and poignant masterpiece, that exposes the in-depth atrocities of the death penalty.
Sister Helen is a true-to-heart abolitionist, and is speaking all over the county about her unyielding convictions against the unfair use of the death penalty. Sister Helen so eloquently combines her powerful presence with a witty sense of humor and directness that radiates her southern charm and intelligence. Her determination, dedication, and fortitude are deeply embedded in her plight to abolish the death penalty.

Dennis Fritz, who is the author of Journey Toward Justice—the co-companion book to John Grisham’s The Innocent Man— has been touring the country and speaking out about wrongful convictions, and the unfair administration of the death penalty. A major motion picture under the direction of George Clooney, is now underway about Dennis and Ronnie Williamson’ case. Both men were falsely convicted of 1st Degree Capital Murder, and spent 12 years behind bars before DNA testing finally freed them.

To meet Dennis, you would never think that he had suffered through a 12 year, never-ending nightmare, as such. His strength, fortitude, and courage are Dennis’ blessings to everyone around him. Today, his zest for life and liberty is greater than it has ever been. Dennis lives each and everyday of his life to the fullest, with a positive attitude and caring for other people—that is very rare in today’s society. Now, he finally gets to meet Sister Helen Prejean!
After Sister Helen and Dennis were picked up at the O’Hare International Airport by Elliot Slosar and Jennifer Bishop ( bulldog abolitionist’s for the State of Illinois ), they immediately had lunch at Giordano’s Pizza.
The excitement could be felt throughout the restaurant, as each of the dynamos for justice conversed and celebrated their long-awaited meeting. After lunch, the group traveled to the historic site of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, where Sister Helen and Dennis would speak that evening to an overwhelming crowd of supporters.

While Sister Helen was speaking to a group of DePaul University students, Dennis got a wonderful tour of Chicago by the one-and-only, Jennifer Bishop. Afterwards, everyone met for dinner at a local nearby restaurant.

Dennis got to meet other powerful abolitionists such as Andrea Lyon and her son, Will, Jennifer’s sister, Jeanne, Private Detective, Mort Smith, Dominick Fortunato, and Bill Bishop—Jennifer’s husband.

CeCe thank you for this latest info regarding Mort Smith.  This may have something to do with Conway's statement about how the Anthonys felt about Kronk. They knew all along that his past was being delved into. Just another cover up by them, IMO. They are such irritating liars, IMO. With that said, what could this guy, Mort, have unveiled about Kronk that will be damaging?

The Orange County Clerk of Court site has been under construction and is now back up, in a totally different format. Just so you know, when searching the check fraud case, the case number is now 2008-CF-013331-A-O, they added the A.

Kronk Faces Deposition In Anthony Case
Former Meter Reader Quiet, Calm

POSTED: 6:05 am EST November 19, 2009
UPDATED: 3:34 pm EST November 19, 2009
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Eleven months ago, Roy Kronk brought the search for slain toddler Caylee Anthony to an end when he found her body in a wooded area.

But attorneys want to know how Kronk knew where Caylee's body was located. It's just one of the questions he will face under oath on Thursday.
Kronk showed up more than 30 minutes early for his 9 a.m. deposition, and had no comment except to say that he was thankful for his attorney.

An attorney for Kronk said there are some things in Kronk's past that he isn't proud of, but those things have nothing to do with his finding of Caylee's remains. The attorney said his client has always been honest about finding the missing toddler and how he made the discovery.

Kronk's lawyer said the deposition has been a slow, methodical process with a lot of questions about Kronk's past.

Kronk insists he found Caylee on his own and was not involved in her disappearance.

While Kronk's attorney said earlier that his client hasn't had a perfect past, he said that has nothing to do with the Anthony case.

Anthony family attorney Brad Conway said his clients know what it's like to be scrutinized by the public, and they don't want the man who found their granddaughter to be treated unfairly.

"Personal issues versus what happened in regard to the discovery of Caylee's remains are two different things, and they want to give him the chance to be full and complete about what happened," Conway said.
Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon appeared to have their game faces on as the deposition began Thursday morning. Baez would only reveal that he expected the deposition would take all day.

thanks cece ...anyone connected with Baez or Lyons already has a strike against him in my book. Just another freeloader getting his face in the media because of Caylee's murder.....scum all of them!!  I am no fan of Kronk and have never hid the fact......but all this dirt digging on people is LOW. Kronk looks like he has aged since he got involved.......the Anthony Curse. I am glad he found Caylee...just wish he had done it sooner and I still think what I think about hwat he did, his reasons and timing....that hasn't changed. But I do feel badly for him. Glad we see another stand up attorney involved in this case (besides those on the prosecution side of course)...so far I see the Morgan Law Firm, Mark Nejame and now this attorney that is standing by Kronk.
