2 Cents. That young woman was the mother of the 5 year old that was almost abducted.

I know they said that her siblings were in grade school too but do we know if they were older or younger than Somer?

On that local news website, that someone posted the link to in here, i read over there that they siblings were older and in 5th grade, while Somer is in 1st grade...

So Somer's parents are seperated and from what they told us it sounds like her mom was at home the day she went missing....was it  her day off or does she not work...if she does not work and is seperated from her husband how does she pay the bills? Is this William Murphy her boyfriend and he takes care of them?

One news report said a back pack with a skull on it and another said that it was a Hannah Montanna one
One news report says that the mom reported her missing at 5 and the other at 6:30
One news report says that they do not think that she was abducted another says that they do not think that this is related to her running away a year ago 
So if she was not abducted and she did not run away then WTH? I am very disappointed in the delay of the Amber Alert, I think that it should have been lit up yesterday.
God Please bring Somer Home Alive and Well!!!

Such a mix up  I must have missed the talk about William Murphy, what does he do for a living, and was he home when this happened?

We are not sure about WM he was just being discussed on page 8....

And once again the Amber Alert isn't out until much later.  IF Somer was abducted by those people in the Nissian they have had a whole evening to get further away where no one is going to know that Somer is missing. 

I know it's been said but the Amber Alert criteria has got to change.

Does anyone know if the dogs could follow her scent?  Let me tell you we had a K9 unit at our house this weekend because a guy jumped over our fence.  We showed them approx where the guy was and the dog took off in secs right along the same path the guy had taken.  If they know where she was last scene and they had something for the dogs to get here scent why can't they narrow it down?

A statewide Amber Alert has been issued for 7-year-old Somer Renee Thompson. Somer was last seen walking home from her school, Grove Park Elementary, yesterday at approximately 2:45 p.m.

According to her siblings, she was walking home with her twin brother, ten year old sister and several friends when she ran ahead of the group. When her siblings arrived at their home, Somer was nowhere to be found. Her mother and mother’s boyfriend searched the neighborhood for approximately 2 ½ hours. After an unsuccessful search Somer’s mother flagged down a patrol car and reported her missing.

Somer Thompson lives in Orange Park, Florida and the case is being handled by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Somer was last seen in the area of West Gano and Debarry Avenues in Orange Park. She was wearing a cranberry colored sweat suit with pink stripes running down the arms and legs and wore a black shirt underneath. She possibly had a red bow in her hair and was wearing a white hat and scarf.  Somer was carrying a Hannah Montana lunchbox and backpack.


The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has reported receiving hundreds of tips however and is seeking information regarding a blue sedan that was seen in the neighborhood in a previous abduction attempt. On October 10, 2009 a woman witnessed an attempted abduction within a block from the area where Somer was last seen. Authorities state that in that incident a woman and two men tried to lure a young girl into their vehicle. However, Clay County Sheriff’s have not said that the two incidents are connected.
Sheriff Rick Bessler has stated that Somer’s disappearance marks the longest time a child has been missing from the county in 22 years. There are 87 registered sex offenders within a five mile radius of where Somer disappeared.

LE stated that Somer was let out of school at 2:50 , met up with her siblings on the way home.  The siblings made it home and someone by the last name of Patton who was at the home asked where was Somer and sent the siblings back out to look for her about an hour.  The mother called home to see if all the kids had made it home and found out that Somer had not.  On her way to the house the mother stopped and informed LE.

HLN reporting on Somer now...her g-ma is talking...says Somer is very friendly loving child...150 tips have come in they have checked out 80 of them....reporter saying this is now an all out search ...they said at some point Somer met back up with group but seperated again and never made it home...

150 leads, LE has followed up on 80. They are concentrating right now on searching.

They have searched with canines, divers and on horseback. FBI and FDLE are involved. They have searched 1 retention pond and a small lake. They have concentrated on searching wooded areas. They are searching in 12 hour shifts, 7 AM-7 PM/ 7 PM-7 AM.

They have interviewed 57 sexual predators within the 3 mile radius and have extended that to 37 more in a larger radius that includes Jacksonville.

They consider her an endangered missing child. The do suspect foul play. No POI.

Somer left her school at 2:50 and met up with her siblings in the 1100 block of Gano Avenue. The siblings arrived home at 3:05 without her.

Tomorrow, they plan on including volunteers in their organized search.

I sure hope that won't be necessary. Hope they find her before that.
