peacelove76   an angelic monkey  and thank-you.   Yes Somer has a twin, 10 year old sister, but she has a older brother Andrew by a different last name.

Tarkington said he was at the Thompson home speaking with her mother, Diena Thompson, for about an hour on Oct. 22, after the sheriff’s office confirmed the body found in landfill was that of her daughter, Somer. Sam Thompson, the child’s father, lives in Graham, N.C., and is estranged from Somer’s mother. Another of Somer’s siblings, Andrew Cardinal, lives in the family home in Orange Park.

Interesting.

I was a child of the seventies and it wasn't a safe place then. I've got my scars and have friends with scars from those years. It was violent.

It's just getting much more rampant for various reasons now a days.

I think we need to do much much more than the stranger danger talks. Maybe I'm still healing from my childhood wounds and am too careful, but I've watched my kids while they were growing up like a hawk. When I wasn't watching them, I made sure wherever they were...they were with someone that was watching them like I would be. There are a lot of monsters walking this planet...many of them don't look anything like monsters and kids can be taught only so much. Besides...they're kids. It's not really up to them to protect themselves like that. It's up to adults to do the full protecting. It's always a great idea to teach them but to me... they're still only children that need adults protecting them until they're adults.

The walking to school rule schools have is bs...it's dangerous...and walking down the road from their homes to catch a bus is a bad idea too...that's how Jaycee Dugard was taken iirc.

There is so much we need to do and keep doing for the kids because it's so bad and only getting worse.

Thank-you so much for all the updates  an angelic monkey   I have a question about Somer's older brother, he is 13?  I'm asking these questions, does he not live with his mom and siblings? Is it true he was picked up at the park across from the abandoned house? I have to say yesterday while cruising WS and the thread over there on Somer there are people that think this kid could have been the one to have done something to Somer. I never gave it any thought at all, but then wondered about these questions? Could this Sean guy and his techniques maybe being used on the older child? I have to say I'm really confused with this

I think the brother is a twin and it's the sister that is 13?

There were four siblings.

Two twins (Somer and Sam)
A sister, Abigail, 10
A brother, Andrew, 13

Sorry if this has been answered. Still catching up here.

"Leaving the area unexpectedly
Missing work or routine engagements
Having unexplained injuries
Having an unnatural interest in the status of the investigation
Having noted increase in nervousness and irritability
Sudden change in physical appearance, such as shaving off facial hair
Changing vehicles
Changing religious beliefs
Changing sleep patterns
Changing use of alcohol, drugs or cigarettes"

I don't think it necessarily indicates they don't have an "idea" who did this...Maybe just need more clarification from a witness. Is this what they say for every case like this? Maybe it's just me, but I am reading a lot into this. I'll just say what popped into my mind...

--He said to look for "Scratches on hand, arms, or head" - So do they have evidence that Somer fought back? (so sad!)
--They definitely sound like they think it's a male
--To me, sounds like they don't suspect a drifter
--Missing work, so does that mean NOT a construction worker that day?
--Changing vehicles--so is there evidence that a car was involved? He said "work or personal vehicle" ...He mentioned if the person "gave away" their vehicle. If she was killed in the car or transported in the car after death, would the perp GIVE the car away? Maybe they think it was just used for transportation to another location.
--The behavioral stuff could be anybody. I think we're ALL nervous in this community and have interest in the case!

JMO

Peace to all, going for a walk now... Sad

I agree with them sounding like they think it is a male. They mention change in physical appearance, such as facial hair. They did not mention dying of the hair, or cutting it, as they might have mentioned if they thought it might be a woman.

Also, the car stuff piques my interest. Maybe because the car could have been seen by someone at the scene, not necessarily that it was used in the actual crime.

I do so hope that they have someone in mind and are watching him like a hawk while they await test results.

If anyone comes across a video of the press conference from this morning, please post it for those of us who missed it. TIA.

After reading the police report ... I hope ... in the process of elimination ... a polygraph by Sean Patton was requested by LE.  Considering Patton was waiting at the end of Somers journey home ... he should be considered a person of interest until ruled out.

I realized that the time frame was short but ...

IMO

I agree. There has been so little said about him. Even if he's not a suspect, he's a pertinent person obviously. I asked this question before but they may have been lost among my RAMBLINGS, LOL...

Has anyone seen any pics of Sean? At the vigils? Viewing? Memorial etc? I haven't....

Also, does anyone now how to obtain a police report?

I think it was posted here earlier that he did not attend the funeral. IIRC I'm still sick and may have things jumbled in my head. The only pictures of him were at the very beginning when she came up missing as far as I know.

Just a thought, but an empty school bus, (one that had already let off children) would probably not stand out in that busy area. She might have hopped on, especially if she knew the driver.

Isn't that very weird that Sean didn't go to the funeral? That doesn't make much sense since he is friends with Somer's mom, and he was in the house the day Somer went missing.

I have found it odd that the "family friend" Sean Patton was not evident in any videos of the vigils I have seen, and mentioned that here.

I also did not see him in any funeral videos/images I have seen.

If you are asking how to obtain the Police Report on this case, it is available here: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/10/22/police.report.pdf

Thanks, mymonkey.

I just cannot get over the fact that the father and his side of Somer's family was omitted entirely from the obit.

That just sits way to strange with me. And makes me sad and a few other emotions and thoughts come to mind.

Me either. No matter how bitter the divorce was, he was still her father. And she had paternal relatives too that were clearly hurt by her death. This is one of those times you put those feelings aside. That was really down right cruel as far as I'm concerned.
