Somer Renee Thompson #1 10/19/09 - 10/29/09

Someone asked the reporter how many of the RSO's involved crimes against children.  She didn't know.  The answer is, out of all of those I posted above (those being w/in 1 mile of 1080 Gano), all but 2, and from those 2, you can't tell from the conviction information whether they involved children or adults.

Jess, I posted a list of the closest as well as the charge.

Clay County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Mary Justino said that Florida Department of Law Enforcement crime scene investigators were processing a vacant, burned out home on Gano Avenue where witnesses last saw Somer.

The house is about 500 yards from Grove Park Elementary School and not far from where Somer ran off from her twin brother and older sister about 2:45 p.m. on Monday.

"Since is is the last known area where Somer was scene, we have obtained permission from the homeowner to go in and process it," Justino said.

Investigators also searched for evidence in a public restroom at the Orange Park Athletic Association across the street from the house.

no rose, all I know is the four were arrested yesterday. The day her body was discovered.

I am not sure when the robbery took place or even where. It appears they were arrested at 1706 Horton Drive, Somer's home.

I'm not sure when the armed robbery happened, but it is showing the arrests were on 10/21 which was yesterday.  Unless that was the entry date on the computer, but I don't think so. JMO

It was veteran detective Bruce Owens of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office who suggested that deputies follow nine dump trucks that made their way from Clay County to the Folkston, Ga., landfill to unload garbage and trash through a contract with the county.

Hats off to this detective...


The offers are part of an outpouring of support from the community, including a request for teachers and others attending a Clay County School District-sponsored health fair to wear purple in remembrance of the young child. Somer Thompson's Father Reacts To Daughter's Death

Graham, NC -- Sam Thompson has experienced a roller coaster of emotions since learning of the death of his daughter, Somer.

"I'm dry. I've gone through the tear stage and now I'm just trying to control my anger that somebody would disregard my child like a piece of trash," he said Thursday at his home in Graham.

He said the sheriff investigating the case called him Wednesday and said a girl's body was found in a Georgia landfill.

Thompson said the sheriff told him the girl had a birthmark similar to one Somer has.

He said he knew at that moment the body was his daughter's.

Finding forgiveness for whoever killed his seven-year-old daughter is hard to find.

"The Lord says I have to forgive you, but I hope you get everything coming to you that you deserve," he said.

Thompson said he last spoke to Somer on the phone last month.
Somer moved away from Graham in 2006.

Thompson said among Somer's siblings is a twin brother, Samuel.

"He loved his sister so much. Oh God, bless him and comfort him. Lord, that's all I can ask. Comfort everybody in my family and Deina's family," he said.

Thompson, who joined Trinity Baptist Church in Swepsonville as a member this summer, is turning to his faith during this difficult time.

"It's the only thing you have to hold onto," he said.

It's helping him find what comfort he can.

hmmm trying to come up with something about these 4, maybe they came to search and the cops spotted them? It is a stretch, but you never know.

Please, I'm tired and on overload, did this armed robbery happen the same day Somer disappeared? 

no rose, all I know is the four were arrested yesterday. The day her body was discovered.

I am not sure when the robbery took place or even where. It appears they were arrested at 1706 Horton Drive, Somer's home.

I am as confused as everyone about it.

Thank-you, you would think this would be huge talk, don't you? Perhaps while the family was out maybe at relatives or at the police station, they took the opportunity? Or the robbery happened prior and they just now made an arrest? Could one of these men be responsible for what happened to Somer?
