KOMU is not covering the funeral which is public to let it be private.

there has seemed to be very little media coverage.

But remain in custody of who? I am beginning not to trust any of them.

what a pretty girl - and the photos show her to be very caring and nurturing to the little ones.

thanks, Klaas - for bringing these here and reminding us that this is about Elizabeth.

(she looks like Jessica).

has anyone found the St. Louis blogs that locals are supposedly posting on?

No not gotten there yet I am guessing that the above comment is what you were referring to.  I am shocked that with the locals being so vocal nothing more to identify this girl has come out yet.

whew...all done with the catchup...all I can say is...Im a good girl!!! Wish I had a magical fairy to unpack all my boxes, seems I missed all the excitement.

Now to more serious matters:

It's a very good idea that they are keeping her, and hopefully under strict, surpervised control behind some barb wire. Especially for her own protection, because I have a feeling if she is returned home or any place without it..there will be major major trouble.

I for one would like to know, what would drive a 15 year old to kill.

Im reminded of a case in England, many years ago, I'll have to find it...were a young girl killed, never really a reason...was tried as a juvenile...at 21 they released her, changed her name..and her location.  The same where 2 boys, lured a little tot from his mother in a shopping mall, took him all over town, beating him along the way...ending up putting him on a railroad track. Those 2 boys, after they were released also had name changes and moved. Both cases were in England.

Tooo, Tooo sad.

yes, the second:  was that the Jamie Bulger case?  not sure of the name, but absolutely heartbreaking.

I have a bad habit of reading the Daily Mail - saw when those boys were released and had their names changed, citizens were extremely upset.

Reader comment <snipped>

The grandparents who tried to help raise their grandchildren were wise to leave the area right away. Imagine what they and Elizabeth's friend, the young sibling of the killer is going through!

I believe you are right on the name. For some reason I cant get a second window to open or I would go look for it. I guess I need to reboot.  However, I think that I read it at Tru Tv or something like that....a whole section on children that kill.  I wanted an understanding after a girl killed her mother here.

Suspect to stay in custody in slaying of Mo. girl
(AP) – 10 minutes ago

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A teenage suspect in the slaying of a 9-year-old Missouri girl will remain in juvenile custody while a judge decides whether the case should be tried in adult court.

An attorney for the 15-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, waived a scheduled detention hearing Wednesday.

Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem did hear arguments on whether the public should be allowed at a Nov. 18 hearing to determine whether the teen should be tried as an adult. Beetem made no immediate ruling. The teen has been charged with first-degree murder.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Olten are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson City. She was found dead Friday in a wooded area near her St. Martins home, two days after she was reported missing.

Seems to have.  That being the case, someone who knows the legal side, does that mean that they also would not have discussed where to hold her until Nov 18th?  She would be staying in Prenger where she is now which btw is right across the street for the highscool I believe.?

Maybe he did it for the suspects safety and to avoid the insanity that went on like when Casey Anthony was released?  If the grandparents have left the area ( I read that somewhere) maybe there is no where else for her to go?

I am just glad she is locked up.

I found the site I was looking for...Mary Bell is the young girl I was talking about, she was 10 years old when she killed.  There is also a case where a 14 yr old was the youngest to receive the death penalty is the US.

I dont know if it will give us insight why children will do this, but maybe we might get some insight.
