Nine year old missing in central Missouri

ST. MARTINS, Mo (KMOX)  -- Niney law enforcement officers and 250 volunteers are looking for a nine year old girl missing from the Cole County, Missouri town of St. Martins, just west of Jefferson City.

Cole County Sheriff Greg White says Elizabeth Olten left the friend's house around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday and was supposed to walk about a quarter mile to her home in St. Martins. She was reported missing around 7 p.m.

They say Elizabeth Olten has long brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a pink sweater, blue jeans and white shoes.

The FBI has become involved & every off-duty police officer & fireman are working on things... There are roughly 100 people searching the wooded area by her home (where the faint "bing" from her cell phone was coming from before the battery died). They're working in a grid type manner, taping each area off after they search it & then moving onto the next area. I know a lot of locals who were helping to search, but because of the use of the infared, they've asked everyone to kinda back off so they could keep track of the people searching & know whether they're seeing one of them or someone/something else on the infared.

I'm sure they've looked into any relation to what has happened with other family members in the past and any other people who might've been involved in that.

The fact that there isn't an Amber Alert really alarms me. I understand that there has to be certain criteria met, but there's a 9 year old who has been missing for nearly 24 hours now. What more criteria do we need? Get Elizabeth's picture out there. Let us post it on our electronic billboards in STL & other cities. Make people more aware. I thought that was part of the reason Missouri put all those electronic signs along I-70. I'm still praying every minute for her safe return home to her mom, family & friends. Thank you to everyone else who's doing the same.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Elizabeth's dad was involved with her daughter.  They know each other that way?  Her daughter was arrested with her dad at one time and then she came up missing is the way I understand it.

Might have been.  Just the fact that Dale is Elizabeth's father and that Jasmine was his g/f when she disappeared would be enough of a connection.  The two mothers may have become friends when Jasmine disappeared.?

Yes, that could be, what in the world happened, just like with Lindsey and Somer so close to home.

Like I said before, maybe they should throw all the SO's out in the streets and lock our children in the jails to keep them safe.  FTLOG if they are happy with a 50% compliance rate in a check of SO's that does not speak well for the whole l"et them out on the streets and report where they are" system they have now.

If my daughter went missing and her b/f was the last to see her you can bet your booty that I would be asking that b/f's  former wives and g/f's everything about him and if he had any special isolated places that he liked to go.  They could very well have become friendly when Jasmine went missing because of having the common Dale connection.
