I'm sorry to ask, and I know it sounds lazy, but is someone willing to give a quick recap of this case?  I would really appreciate it because I am so far behind with concentrating on Somer.

tia.
Elizabeth was at a friends house aprox 1/4 mile away from her home, was sent home at 6:15 never made it home, the mom was apparently unaware that she was sent home to walk. she never arrived, and there are lots of woods around there, but the mom was quick to say she is scared of dark and woods, when no one even said anything about woods.

Next we learned she had a cell phone on her and att pinged ot deep in the woods behind her families home, now the batteries are dead, they have been searching but turning volunteers away. been raining pretty bad and cold there, they have searched a 1/2 square mi area (i believe where her phone pinged last) twice now. they have just recently set up a road block and are handing out fliers...

They have been using infared technoligy to search, and called off the search due to the rain and stuff last night

The dad is in jail, his previous gf is missing presumed dead and father is suspect, fathers son is also in jail/or has been jailed.

The missing gf's mom was hanging out with Elizabeth's mom the other day....

I think that about covers it....

thanks SC.

Can't imagine why they are turning away vols - unless they are pretty sure what has happened and want to contain areas.

Helicopter Helping in Search for Missing Girl

COLE COUNTY - Authorities, including a Highway Patrol helicopter, are back searching for Elizabeth Olten, a 9-year-old girl from the St. Martins area who went missing Wednesday evening.

In a 10 a.m. Friday news conference, Cole County Sheriff Greg White said there are 67 volunteers on the ground right now searching for Elizabeth. 70 investigators are working on the case. A Highway Patrol helicopter was able to help in the search around 11:30 in the morning after weather delayed the overhead search efforts.
White says searchers covered a wide area on Thursday, the Friday search is more contained to specific areas. White did not give any more details. He did say an abduction is the least likely possibility in Elizabeth's disappearance. He plans to speak to the media again at 3 p.m.

About 250 volunteers came out Thursday, joining about 100 officials, to search for the missing girl. Volunteers are currently gathering at the VFW in St. Martins.

Officials are interviewing registered sex offenders in the area, but they haven't named any persons of interest. No Amber Alert has been issued because the disappearance has not been confirmed as an abduction.

Authorities have little evidence. Olten was carrying a cell phone when she disappeared. Officials have confirmed that the cell phone is located in the woods within the search area. The woods weren't on Olten's route home. The phone's battery has died, and without the signal, officials can't track the phone. Investigators are also looking into her call history.

Officals have searched every "square foot" of the search area at least twice, Cole County Sheriff Greg White said. They will search the periphery of the surrounding area starting at 7 a.m. Friday.

Olten went missing around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. She was supposed to be walking home from a friend's house only a few blocks away in the 600 block of Route D south of St. Martins, but never came home.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department has issued an Endangered Person Advisory as it continues to search for Olten. She is a white, 9-year-old female. She is 5' 2" and 108 lbs. with brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion with physical marks. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt with a darker pink vest, blue jeans, and white sneakers.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the FBI are desperately trying to find the young girl.

"Well, I think the woods are a possibility (where the girl may be). Kids in this area play in the woods and farm areas," White speculated, when asked about where the girl may have gone.

The huge group of volunteer searchers included military members, housewives, public servants, and construction workers who left their day jobs to join in the search.

"I contacted my supervisor and asked him if we were going to assist in anyway," said Mark Zimmerman, a Cole County Public Works employee and a rescue volunteer. "He said he was going to ask for some volunteers."

Authorities and volunteers have been coordinating the search all day from local VFW Post 35. On Wednesday afternoon, officials were asking for no more volunteers. The outpour from the community had been overwhelming and they said they couldn't coordinate any more searchers.

The terrain in the search area is rough, hilly, and includes fields, forests, and ponds.

If you have any information, contact the Cole County Sheriff's Department at 573-634-9160 or the 24-hour tip line at 866-362-6422. For more information click on the link to visit the 'Help Find Elizabeth Olten' page on Facebook.

New information on the search for Elizabeth

Law enforcement and volunteers have been searching for about almost 5 hours this morning, but still no sign of fourth grader Elizabeth Olten from St. Martin.

She has been missing now for nearly 40 hours, after she vanished while walking home from a friend's house Wednesday evening.

Today, the search is going better thanks to the weather.

During a 10 a.m. press briefing today, Cole County Sheriff Greg White said a search crew of 67 people were on the ground at 7:30 a.m.

That's in contrast to yesterday's search of hundreds of people.

White said today's search will be more "pin-pointed and directed.”

The sheriff said a tip line got calls overnight, but wouldn't say if any leads have come from it.

White also said the department has some phone records back from AT&T from Elizabeth's cell phone and investigators are going through those.

That cell phone is now out of batteries, but before it died the cell phone company was able to triangulate its location as deep in the woods behind Elizabeth's home.

Searchers went over that area twice yesterday and didn't find the phone. The family said Elizabeth would not have gone into the woods.

The family is working with the "Missouri Missing" organization to make pins and flyers to hand out.

The FBI is helping, but does not have jurisdiction in the case.

The sheriff says that no new volunteers are needed.

If people want to help they are asked to call the red cross, which is assisting in the efforts.

ST. MARTINS -- Update: Friday 12:45 p.m.

The highway patrol is using a helicopter at his hour to search for missing 9 year-old Elizabeth Olten.

The helicopter is using infrared scanners to look for heat on the ground.

Besides looking from the sky, about 70 searchers are on foot.

according to the info I found at the link above, he hasn't had his trial yet.

I did find a news article that both Dales had NO bail - and Jesse's bail was $50,000.

He could easily be out right now awaiting trial.

Can't find an inmate locator.

Scarey - you asked if Elizabeth's mom had any court records?  She had a traffic ticket - driving without a seatbelt -  back in 1996 and the paternity case she filed against Dale in 2007.  That is it.
