I think it probably is too, COOKIE. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out why LE would think being a female would matter being disclosed. 

We haven't been getting much information on all the new cases lately. Maybe LE has watched what has happened with the Caylee case and are just keeping things to themselves.....We've not even gotten COD on many and that seems to be keeping things too close to the vest IMO.

Olten Suspect Charged With First Degree Murder

ST. MARTINS - Two days after 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten went missing, authorities have concluded their investigation.

The Cole County Sheriff announced the prosecutor's formal charge Saturday morning at a press conference in St. Martins.

The suspect's age and their charge came with an equally strong bite.

As the days grew longer and the search efforts came up empty, everyone dreaded the news.

"We came into possession of some written documents, the results of those documents gave us a person of interest," Cole County Sheriff Greg White said. "After questioning that individual, we were taken to the sight where the body was found."

With Olten's body, came the formal charge from Juvenile Court Administrator Michael Couty.

"Alleging a 15-year-old committed an offensive murder in the first degree," Couty concluded.

Stringent Missouri juvenile laws protect most information in the case.

Details including the suspect's gender and any known relationship remains unknown.

Nearly 1,000 volunteers and officials aided in the search, but the dense woodland and hilly terrain complicated efforts.

"We had been through the area, actually more than once," White said. "The body was very well concealed."

The search headquarters now sits empty, but the family is full of gratitude.

"To know that others love and care and want to do whatever they can is very helpful to the family," Peggy Florence from Missouri Missing said.

Family and friend's cars lined up outside Olten's home to mourn.

Neighborhood sources tell us, Olten was playing at a house on Lo Mo Drive just down the street from her own home Wednesday night.

The short quarter mile trip is a straight shot home.

Unless the case is transferred to the adult court system, her final detour may never be known.

The Cole County medical examiner performed Olten's autopsy Saturday.

The autopsy results won't be available for a few weeks, pending the toxicology report.

why in the world would a child kill another child? I'm Elizabeth's Cousin and I just don't understand what was going through this persons mind to make them kill my innocent 9yr old cousin?????? explain to me please why??? I'm so glad i moved away from there, Or my son could of been at risk of this as well. Elizabeth you will always be remembered baby girl and loved, and we will ALL miss you, your whole family not just the ones close by. Rest In Peace Sweet Angel!!!!

Elizabeth Kay Olten, 9, of Jefferson City, was welcomed into the arms of the angels on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. She was born December 15, 1999, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Patricia “Patty” (Carwile) Preiss and Dale Olten, Sr.
Elizabeth was currently a fourth grade student and Pioneer Trails Elementary School in Jefferson City. She was a lover of music, and some of her favorites included Hannah Montana and Taylor Swift. She loved horses, playing with her friends, and especially enjoyed baking cookies and doing puzzles with her mom. She also loved to play dress-up with her animals.

She survived by her mother: Patty Preiss of the home; her father: Dale Olten, Sr. of Bowling Green; two sisters: Stephanie Adrian (husband Alex) of Jefferson City; Candice Olten of Columbia; two brothers: Anthony Olten of the home; Dale Olten, Jr. of Bowling Green; maternal great-grandmother: Eula Hopkins of Owensville; maternal grandmother: Sandra Corn (husband Harold) of Sullivan; two aunts: Cindy Spurgeon (husband Randy) of Owensville; Pam Sills (husband Mike) of Jefferson City; one uncle: Rick Carwile (girlfriend Debbie) of Owensville; a niece: Jaidence Adrian of Jefferson City; a nephew: Kaiden Adrian of Jefferson City; an honorary dad: Gary Bemboom of Jefferson City and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather: Louis Hopkins.

I noticed that Dale's sister, who was vocal in the news on behalf of Elizabeth and her family, is not mentioned in this obit.  Nor any of Dale's family, except for Dale, Jr.

I haven't had time to track down this kids first name.  I do believe I have the grandparents names and the occupation of the grandmother.  If I am correct, the grandmother (age 52) runs a daycare from her home.

I've been tooling around and found some stuff - I'm going to wait til LE releases more info to comment on what I've found, so that Klaas and her mods don't have to kick me out of here, lol.

But suffice to say, I think the rumors of gender may be correct.

Re: WHY they are being so quiet about this.  My thinking is that LE stated that they want a clean investigation and trial - I think that's all there is to it.

Also, a media crap-storm could totally effect this little town - and possibly the family and friends of the victim and the suspect - and there are many minors in the friends category for both.

Okay this is what I'm picking up about the family. Supposedly the mom of the perp has four kids, grandma is taking care of them, mom has issues, dad has serious issues, don't know if true, but he is in jail in CA. The other forum has given the initials of the perp if indeed this is her, I won't because of her age. It appears Goth is a little exagerated, EMO is a better term. Many kids have and are going through the EMO phase, I know my younger daughter and her friends did for awhile. It looks like there are drug issues within the family with mom, have no idea with the perp. Again if this is indeed the family there are two 11 year old boys, and a 6 year old gir, and the 15 year old. This is not confirmed, just thought interesting.
