I am not feeling this has anything to do with a cellphone.  I think it is speculation on how she could have gotten Elizabeth into the woods.

Thanks Northern.  I am having a hard time trying to figure out how her body was so concealed that the thermal radar didn't even pick it up.  I realize these things aren't 100% reliable but how did a 15 year old pull this off

The night she went missing they did try to use thermal radar but said the dense foilage on the trees really inhibited them.  After that I am not sure they get the chopper up again because of the heavy rain.

You are right about how a 15 year old pulled this off.  Lived meters away from the search and did not break, concealed the body so well that two search teams missed it, and still could go on with her normal life until someone turned in the written notes that lead LE to her.  Had those notes not been turned in I wonder if Elizabeth would have been found.

Teen charged with murder in slaying of 9-year-old

Published: Monday, October 26, 2009 6:24 AM CDT
A 15-year-old has been charged with murder in the death of 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten.

The teenager's identity has not been released by law enforcement. The teen is currently being held by the juvenile justice system and is scheduled to receive a psychological evaluation.

Due to the severity of the crime, it is possible the teenager could be charged as an adult. A judge is scheduled to make that determination next week.

The teen is from the same area as Olten, west of Jefferson City.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Jefferson City Board of Education officials will meet Monday to discuss how to handle and discuss the death of Elizabeth Olten.

Olten's body was found in a wooded area Friday. She had been missing since Wednesday, when she was supposed to walk home from a friend's house.

A 15-year-old is in custody for the killing and helped lead police to Olten's body.

Police said Olten knew the suspect.

Olten was a fourth grader at Pioneer Trail Elementary School and Monday the school will hold a special meeting at 10 a.m. to talk about how to help her classmates cope with the loss.

The school said it will have grief counselors on hand and school leaders have said they will do whatever they can to support family and friends affected by this tragedy.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church.

JEFFERSON CITY - Wake and funeral arrangements have been set for 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten, who was found dead Friday after a two-day search.

Authorities say a 15-year-old currently faces first degree murder charges for Olten's death.

Her wake is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard funeral home in Jefferson City. The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Concord Baptist Church. According to her obituary, a horse-drawn carriage will take Olten to her final resting place at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Olten was a student at Pioneer Elementary School, and counselors will be available this week to help students, parents, faculty and staff cope.

The Jefferson City Board of Education will host a closed-door meeting at 10 a.m. Monday at 315 East Dunklin Street. Missouri's Sunshine Law validates the closed-door nature due to the circumstances of the situation. Superintendent Brian Mitchell said the meeting is mainly informational, and does not expect any formal decisions to be made.

There is a definite pall over this area. It's felt like that since last week. The constant grey and rain isn't helping.

The powers that be in town are in full scramble mode. JC is notorious for the local politics resembling a game of 3 card monty.

I'd go so far to say that the name of the suspect is near common knowledge locally by now.

The idiot at the local juvenile facility is already talking to reporters about counseling and such. If it wasn't a female I suspect that would not be the case.
It just chaps my @ss frankly.

I suspect once the circumstances of the case and the ID of the suspect are revealed there is going to be a huge spotlight aimed at JC.
What they find ain't gonna be pretty.

good morning, monkeys.

I hope so too, Northern Rose.

The closed door school board meeting is in 2 mins.  They have two schools to deal with as well as the rumour mill.  Stuff is getting out already, whether it is friends posting messages on their Myspace or twitter etc, or parents talking.
