Morning (oops - Afternoon!) Monkey Friends -

Been following along with this and the other recent heartbreaking cases, but haven't jumped in yet . . . Couldn't help myself now, though.

I cannot believe that this teacher just up and decided to shoot himself at the same time that all of this was coming out about the 15 yr old suspect! WAAAAAAAY too suspicious, IMO - entirely too much so. Dollars to donuts there is something in this whole sick and sad situation that he couldn't live with . . . even if it's just that she was in his class & he knew something was wrong & didn't report it - SOMETHING pushed this guy over the edge. You all have mentioned that the "B" family is prominant in town . . . sounds as though this teacher was known by everyone too . . . coinkydink?

Hmmmm............... Something's rotten in St. Martin's, I'd speculate . . .

All JMHO, of course.

I totally smell the same thing.  Considering what he taught (english and journalism) and was head of I am wondering if our POI wrote a detailed story as an assignment that came true?  LE did say hand written notes were given to them by a 3rd juvenile which then lead them to the POI.  Could have been another student just as likely as one of her siblings.  JMO
Northern I asked that question the other night. If a teacher could have given LE the letters or knew about the letters. Now this teacher kills himself? Kind of crazy if you ask me.

The teacher was a journalism teacher, a scenario could be he was her teacher and she had wrote of doing something like this but he didn't take her seriously. Can you imagine the guilt one would feel? Or of course the two events have nothing to do with each other.  I guess we will have to see what comes out.

Hi there Walter (Please don't bite! LOL)

I finally got it to work early this morning - was frustrated and feeling left out as well.

Here's what worked for me:
Cut & paste the quote (misspellings & all!) from Twitter that has been attributed to the POI: "addiction takes over your whole life. it's not something easily overcome, therefor i embrace me addiction" - BE SURE to include the quotation marks.
Then type in + Twitter. Search. Voila.

Hope it works for you!

something just occurred to me - if it's too morbid, mods please remove.

I just had a sudden thought about time of death - if she could've been alive while the search was going on.

Jill that is something that bothered me...when the LE made a statement Friday or Sat. they said something about this happening about the time that she was being reported missing or something to that effect. Made me think maybe she was still alive while they were looking for her. This is just so confusing..... How she got Elizabeth into the woods, killed her and concealed her so well in that short amount of time and got back home without being seen. Just seems impossible to me.

Indeed, NorthernRose - we are thinking alike on this one. He knew something that could have prevented this murder . . . IMO. The writing assignment is precisely what I had been thinking, too - or at least something in that scope. SOMEHOW, he knew something. And he felt responsible for not acting on it.

Sounds like he was in his late 70's . . . hard for me to imagine a 'sordid relationship' with the teenage girl - LOL. But, I suppose one never knows . . . . Egads.

snipped from the article provided about Mr. Currie:
Bill Currie was born William Currie II on January 16, 1944. makes him 65...
maybe not a sordid relationship but more of a grandfatherish relationship?dunno...
somehow I feel that this is all tied in together ....and I agree that he felt responsible for not acting on what he knew...xxx

I would think so, it really depends on the state.....remember OJ was convicted of kidnapping by just luring the victims and holding them in the hotel room.......hate that for him

Here is the full press conference where Sherriff White talks about finding Elizabeth.
Prior to this presser the  Sheriff constantly said there were "no signs of foul play" and at one point even said they were not sure she was even in the area anymore.  That has to be one very smart 15 year old to outwit the Sheriff.  Had the other juvenile not given LE the written notes who knows where the investigation would be today.

see, now THIS was what I didn't like from the start about the missing investigation - and now things aren't adding up with how this is playing out now.

Thisa Sheriff NEVER handled this in ways that I have seen successful LE handle a missing child case.

*  Not searching through the night - it's Missouri, not the North Pole.

*  I read that he told the FBI thanks, but no thanks.  wtf?

*  Not issuing an Amber Alert - the rules for this can be stretched, we've seen them do it before.  Was there a State Alert?

*  Making assumptions to the press that she was not abducted, no foul play.

SHE WAS 9 YEARS OLD, SHERIFF!  WHAT DID YOU THINK, SHE RAN OFF TO VEGAS???

And now he seems to be stonewalling the public's right to know what in hell is going on - and we all know damn well that minors names are released if they are charged with heavy duty crimes.

A lot of this just does not make sense to me, but maybe chalk it up to apparently the Sheriff previously was a school resource officer?  Not longtime LE?

It bothers me to think that Elizabeth could have been lying there through that first night and beyond, slowly succumbing to her wounds.  Maybe she could've been saved if they had not stopped searching that night.
