      # Missing Since: June 17, 2007 from Russellville, Missouri
      # Classification: Endangered Missing
      # Date Of Birth: July 19, 1975
      # Age: 31 years old
      # Height and Weight: 5'9, 120 - 130 pounds
      # Distinguishing Characteristics: Caucasian female. Blonde/brown hair, hazel eyes. Haslag has pierced ears, and burn scars on the insides of both her forearms.       # Clothing/Jewelry Description: Possibly a zip-up hooded sweatshirt, a black and tan shirt with a peace sign printed on it and denim capri pants.

Details of Disappearance

Haslag was last seen at approximately 12:00 p.m. on June 17, 2007, at her residence in the 13000 block of Minnie Street in Russellville, Missouri. She was scheduled to pick up her children at 12:30 p.m. the following day from their father's residence in Bland, Missouri, but never arrived. Her green 1996 Toyota was found abandoned on June 20, in a field off Highway 94 in Mokane, Missouri, across the Missouri river. This was in the opposite direction from the route Haslag would have taken to pick up her children. The license plate and battery had been removed from the vehicle, which had nothing in it. Haslag's mother filed a missing persons report on June 21, four days after she was last seen.

Haslag's boyfriend was the last person to see her. He originally stated he last saw her when she left Russellville to get her children, then changed his story and stated she dropped him off at a Wal-Mart store. The boyfriend was arrested on drug charges after Haslag disappeared, and is incarcerated. Haslag was also involved with drugs prior to her disappearance, and was due to appear in court on July 18, 2007 on charges of possessing materials to make methamphetamine and intent to distribute marijuana, both felonies. She missed her court date. Haslag did not have a criminal record prior to these charges.

Authorities believe foul play was involved in Haslag's disappearance. They think her case may be drug-related. Her disappearance remains unsolved.

 Haslag Search Continues

JEFFERSON CITY - The Cole County Sheriff's Department is still working on the Jasmine Haslag missing persons case.

"We didn't think there was foul play until we started getting calls from her mother and family and friends," said Lt. Gary Hill of the Sheriff's Department.

Haslag, a 31-year-old mother of three went missing on June 18 on her way to pick up her children from their father in Bland (in Gasconade County). When police recovered Haslag's car on the side of Hwy. 94, her mother Peggy Florence said she knew something was not right.

According to Florence, Haslag's car had a spare tire on it, and she said Haslag would not drive a car in that condition to pick up her children. Florence started Missouri's Missing, a non-profit organization to find missing adults. She and her grandchildren visit the website as well as one specifically dedicated to finding Haslag.

"They always want to talk about her. The first thing they do is get on the computer and see what I've been doing," Florence said.

Florence raised another $10,000 hoping for help finding her daughter.

If you have any information about Jasmine Haslag please call Jefferson City Crime Stoppers at 573-659-8477.

JEFFERSON CITY - The Cole County Sheriff's Office has helped form a new multi-jurisdictional task force to help find a Jasmine Haslag.

Haslag has been missing for more than eight months. The sheriff's office treated the investigation as a missing persons case at first, but that has changed. The sheriff's office decided to change directions with the case.Instead of a missing person's case, it is now a homicide investigation.

When Haslag went missing last June, her family desperately wanted to know what was going on. Her mother continues to search for closure.

Peggy Florence needs to see her daughter in order to accept the truth.

"If someone can stand up and help me by giving me that, that will be what I need," Florence said.

Cole County is teaming up with Osage and Callaway Counties, as well as the Missouri State Highway Patrol to find Haslag. They plan to follow a new lead.

"New information has come forward, and we're going to stay with that information at this time," said Cole County Sheriff Greg White

Florence just wants to know what really happened to her daughter.

"I love you. I love you darling. I truly do. We all love you. We want you back. We need you back," Florence said.

White did not go into specifics about what the task force will do. He says his office reopened the case after someone provided new information. But he couldn't comment directly on the open investigation.

 Woman's Body Found

MOKANE - The body found in a Callaway County river is not a missing woman from the mid-Missouri area.

A reserve officer of the Callaway County Sheriff's Department was looking for mushrooms near the Mokane River Sunday afternoon and made a more disturbing discovery. He stumbled across a shallow grave, in it he found what appeared to be a female's body. Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane believed the body had been there for a while.

Examiners scheduled an autopsy for 9:30 a.m. Monday and released the results in the afternoon.

There was speculation earlier that the body could be that of missing Russellville woman Jasmine Haslag who went missing June 18, 2007. Haslag was declared missing after she never showed to pick up her children. The body was discovered five miles from where Haslag's car was found last Summer.

In an update at 3:30 p.m. Monday, the Callaway County Sheriff's Department said that according to AFIS, the fingerprints belonging to the unidentified body are not those of Jasmine Haslag. The fingerprints will be sent to the FBI and run through the National Missing Person database to try to obtain an identity.

The Callaway County and the Osage County Sheriffs Departments, along with the Highway Patrol and the Department of Conservation are working together on the investigation.

Sheriff's have named the Mokane River Access, County Road 479, as a crime scene and closed all traffic on the road, while river access is shut down all of Monday.
In an update at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the FBI confirmed that the fingerprints are not those of Jasmine Haslag. They also stated that they did not find a match for the fingerprints through the National Missing Person database. The remains will be turned over to an anthropologist to try to obtain more details, such as approximate time and date of death and any additional information regarding the victim in general.

Sheriff Suspects Foul Play

COLE COUNTY - After someone's been missing for a month, authorities often suspect "foul play" and that's what happened in the Cole County disappearance of Jasmine Haslag.

Wednesday afternoon, the Cole County Sheriff said he thinks criminal activity or other players may be involved in Haslag's disappearance.

Her car was found abandoned in Callaway County.

Thirty-one-year old Haslag was living in Russellville, about 14 miles southeast of Jefferson City, when she went missing.

Neighbors in the town say she'd only been living there for three months. The Cole County Sheriff's department is following leads but says it has no evidence within its county to work with.

"We're doing everything that we can think of within our power to locate her. We've certainly followed up on voluminous numbers of leads," said Cole County Sheriff Greg White. "But after this length of time, with no one having any tangible contact with her, we certainly have to look at the possibility that criminal activity could be involved."

KOMU learned Haslag was supposed to appear in court in Miller County Wednesday on drug trafficking charges. White was surprised when KOMU told him.

Haslag is charged with possessing materials to make methamphetamine and intent to distribute marijuana. Both are Class B felonies.

The Miller County court confirmed Haslag spent time in jail on May 25 and knew her court date was Wednesday.

The Cole County Sheriff's department was not aware of the charges and did not discuss how these charges could have contributed to Haslag's disappearance.

MOKANE - A woman's body turned up in a shallow grave near Mokane on Monday. On Thursday, Jane Doe was laid to rest.

Morning rains didn't mask the grief in Mokane Thursday. Just a few small drops hit the ground, like the tears from mourners eyes.

"We want to stand up for her and see her through this."

Jane's last name is Doe, at least for now. Whoever knows who she really is doesn't know she's here yet.

"Now she's joined our family," said Peggy Florence, Jasmine Haslag's mother. "Her family is now our family. There's a whole bunch of people that have missing loved ones, and we're all connected even though we don't know one another."

Florence is Jasmine Haslag's mother. Haslag went missing nearly a year ago. So, her mother organized this memorial for Jane Doe. Hoping another mother would do the same for her daughter.

"I was ecstatic," said Florence. "I thought we had found Jasmine. But it didn't turn out that it was Jasmine. It was like God gave me something to go on for."

Sent off on a prayer that someone somewhere will give Jane Doe back her name, now that her memory is laid rest.

This story is so sad, especially after reading her children's comments after Elizabeth went missing. There is so much pain these kids are carrying around, breaks my heart. Her mother really sounds like she has made a difference, good for her. I bet it is difficult though considering how much pain she too carries with her.

I am curious to know why they have determined this case a homicide? Is it soley because the fisherman found what could have been a human hand? I believe he dropped it so no testing happened, right? So what makes her case a homicide and not a missing person?

   FBI Looking At E-Mails

JEFFERSON CITY- An e-mailer with claims to know the whereabouts of a missing woman may be pulling a scam.

The e-mail to Peggy Florence states, "Jasmine is being held by a serial rapist kidnapper who kidnaps and holds women captive. She is fine and ok and that is all I can tell you. For you now."  Florence's daughter Jasmine Haslag disappeared in June of last year with no information, no witnesses and no closure. She was 31-years-old and a mother at 3.

"She was told that she was going to be there to pickup the children and she didn't show up," explained Florence.

Florence started receiving the e-mails about a month ago. The writer signed the name John Doe.  He asked for $10,000 for information about Haslag.  The emails came one after another, tormenting Florence.

FBI Agent Kevin Steck said the FBI believes that the same person also contacted a person in St.Louis and a few others in Missouri. This case is currently under investigation. Steck said anyone receiving e-mails like this should contact law enforcement before responding or taking any kind of action.

In an attempt to help prevent this to happening to others, Florence founded Missouri-Missing, which can be found by clicking the link to the left.

With the missing persons/murder of Elizabeth Olten, daughter of Dale Olten Sr., Jasmine's name has come back into the news:

Ra'Vae Edwards wrote on Oct 22, 2009 4:20 PM:

" I am the public information specialist for Missouri Missing, I have been in constant communication with Peggy Florence and Elizabeth's family since last night. There are a lot of questions about the relationship between Elizabeth and Dale Olten Sr.
It is in fact true that Dale Olten Sr. is her father. He is currently serving time in prison on drug charges.
Dale is also the man that Jasmine was dating at the time of her disappearance in June of 2007. This is not a rumor. However, this does not in any way mean that the two cases are related.
Jasmine's mother, Peggy Florence, has been with Elizabeth's family since last night and will continue to be by their side until Elizabeth is found. "

Task force investigating woman's disapearance as homicide

By Jeff Haldiman
jhaldiman@**
Published: Wednesday, March 5, 2008 3:48 PM CST

Jasmine Haslag

What many people feared and suspected for nearly a year is now official.

The sheriff's departments in Cole and Osage counties are treating the disappearance of Jasmine Haslag as a homicide.

Tuesday afternoon, authorities announced that, as a result of new information, a multi-jurisdictional task force has been established to investigate this case. Members of the task force include the Callaway County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.

That's all authorities are saying publicly about the investigation. No information about possible suspects, or whether a body has been located, has been revealed.

Haslag last was seen when she left her home in Russellville on June 18 to pick up her three children at their father's home in Bland.

She never arrived.

A few days later, her car was found abandoned in a field on Route PP, off Missouri 94, between Mokane and Dixie.

Haslag's mother, Peggy Florence, has told reporters her daughter had gotten involved in illegal drugs prior to her disappearance. Now, she believes her daughter was killed to keep her from telling authorities what she knew about the local drug world.

Haslag was scheduled for a July 18 court appearance in Miller County, one day before her 32nd birthday.

She and roommate Dale Olten were charged with second-degree drug trafficking after they were stopped May 24 by an Eldon Police officer.

Police said a search of the vehicle revealed nearly 80 grams of methamphetamine, more than 100 grams of marijuana, more than $1,000 in cash and a pistol with the serial number removed.

“Jasmine had never had a record before, and she was living with that man and ... she got arrested with him,” Florence said. “She was arrested and bailed out on a $50,000 bail.

“And then, she disappeared.”

Hopes of finding some answers in the case increased in July when authorities spent a few days on the Osage River after a fisherman reported he pulled up what appeared to be a human hand. However, searchers failed to locate a body.

Florence put together funds for a private reward to help stimulate interest in the case. As late as the end of January, the Jefferson City Area Crimestoppers re-issued their call for help in this case and said they still had a $500 reward for information that could lead to an arrest.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to call the Osage County Sheriff's Department at (573) 619-0099 or the Cole County Sheriff's Department at (573) 634-9160.

About me:
JEFFERSON CITY -- The Cole County Sheriff’s Department needs your help in finding a missing woman. Jasmine Haslag was last seen on June 18th, when she was supposed to go to Bland, MO, to pick up her children. She never showed up and has not been seen since. Anyone with information about Haslag's disappearance should call the Cole County Sheriff’s Department at 573-634-9160, or they can submit a tip to CrimeStoppers.

"My name is Peggy Florence, I am Jasmine's mother. The last thing we know for sure is that she had called and talked to her children on Sunday the 17th of June. She told the kids and their farther that she would be picking them up at 12:30 Monday the 18th. Jasmine did not make it to pick up her children, and has not been seen or heard from seance. Her car was found on the 20th in Callaway Co. on the other side of the Missouri River. This is in the opposite direction she would of been going. I filed a missing persons report on the 21st, at that time I didn't know that her car had been located. The missing persons report was filed with Cole County Sheriffs office. The news KRCG 13 has run the story when she went missing, a few updates when the Sheriffs office stated that they believe there was foul play involved. I have done a interview with them to get the story back on the news. The local papers have also ran a few stories, Jefferson city News Tribune, The Gasconade Republican, The Unterrified Democrat, and the Fulton paper and some others. Please take the time to look in to this and let me know if you may be able to help. My e-mail psflo1@gmail.com, for any thing else you may need to know. There is so much more hear that I do not feel comfortable saying at this time. Bless Us All Those Missing And All that Are Searching.

Body Found in Callaway County Not Haslag
Our family heard about the woman found late last night. Today has been yet another trying day. We spent the day waiting to hear if this was in fact our Jasmine Sue. We hope for this nightmare to finally be over with. Sadly enough our journey in searching for Jasmine is not over. Jasmine has been missing for 10 long months. She was a loving mother. She is missed and loved very much. Right now our thought and prayers go out to the family of the women that was found yesterday afternoon. Missouri Missing will be doing anything they can to help find this women's family. We hope to bring them some piece of mind that we are all longing for with our own missing loved one. If anyone has any information about a missing women to please contact the Callaway County Sheriff's Department and or Missouri Missing.
Thank you again for all of your love and support.
Nicole Sue

 Olten acquitted in federal trial
Olten acquitted in federal trial
By Bob Watson

A federal jury in Kansas City on Wednesday acquitted a Russellville man on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.

The jury's verdict ended a three-day trial against Dale Olten, 45.

"Their case was based on the mere fact that a gun and drugs were found in Dale's truck," defense attorney Dan Dodson said Wednesday afternoon.

"The jury seemed to accept our witness' testimony - including Dale Olten - that it wasn't his and he didn't know it was in the truck."

Olten and his roommate, Jasmine Haslag, originally were charged with second-degree drug trafficking after they were stopped May 24, 2007, by an Eldon Police officer, in a 1977 Chevrolet truck with no tail lights.

Police said then a search of the vehicle revealed nearly 80 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 grams of marijuana, over $1,000 in cash and a pistol with the serial number removed.

Olten's case was turned over to federal prosecutors, while Haslag was named in state charges filed in Miller County.

Haslag later disappeared and her case now is being treated as a murder.

She last was seen June 18, 2007, as she was leaving Jefferson City to pick up her children in Bland. She never made it there, nor telephoned her children, which family members said was her practice.

Her car was found June 20 in a field along Route PP in southern Callaway County, between Mokane and Dixie.

Dodson said Olten's federal case was moved to Kansas City because of the publicity about Haslag's disappearance.
