Illegal immigrants offered tuition
UW System gives undocumented residents in-state rates as part of Doyle’s new law

To receive the tuition, the students must first have lived in the state of Wisconsin for at least three years and graduated from a Wisconsin high school. The students must then sign a legal affidavit indicating they will seek residency in the near future, according to a statement.

With a college degree, the long run hope is these students will be able to receive high paying jobs when entering the workforce, Giroux said.

He added higher paying jobs not only benefit the students themselves, but also the state as it receives more tax revenue off higher incomes.

“People who earn more pay more taxes and those revenues support universities and health care,” Giroux said. “To get more college degrees in our workforce and provide folks with educational opportunities is in our best interest when you consider the alternative.”

I wonder how many unemployed people in Wisconsin have paid taxes for years and don't qualify for student aid?  Can't afford even in-state tuition?

After a few years, mature folks have responsibilities, like mortgages, cars, children...

They might have some savings in an IRA, or questionable equity in a home...

For some reason the State of Wisconsin and Federal government , thinks they need to begger themselves to qualify for help.

At the same time, they go all out for people here illegally.

What a great deal for citizens and those here legally.

IP hash: 84b29983 Thanks, Guv, for stabbing Wisconsin taxpayers and in-state students in the back. Next thing you’ll be making them eligible for financial aid, which we taxpayers will also have to pay for.

Our Government, past & present, Republican & Democrat, have allowed the invasion of 20 to 30 million criminals and uneducated peons which is the largest invasion of any Nation, at any time, by any means & in direct violation of Article IV, Section IV of our Constitution.

This refusal to abide by our Constitution or enforce our Immigration Laws should be classified as Treason of the most foul kind, & as grounds for impeachment & trials for Treason!

Not only have they allowed the invasion, they force American tax payers to pay Billions on Billions of dollars to provide Welfare, Prison cells, Educate the invaders numerous children, and free medical care, at the same time the invading horde break numerous laws and massive document fraud, & are destroying our schools, hospitals, communities, culture and standard of living while Robbing, Raping, Killing & Assaulting American Citizens WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Odd thing - where are the higher paying jobs?  Unemployment is a record highs, and jobs keep leaving under the Obama plan for prosperity.

Why isn't educating citizens and the unemployed a priority?  Why isn't a robust job market a priority?

Wisconsin now is one of 11 states that allow illegal immigrants to pay resident tuition, according to the National Immigration Law Center. California's provision has been challenged, under the argument that it violates a 1996 federal law.

That law prohibits states from giving any higher education benefit based on residency to illegal immigrants unless they provide the same benefit to U.S. citizens, regardless of where they live.

The case is pending before the California Supreme Court. But no state's law has been overturned. Dave Gorak, executive director of the Midwest Coalition to Reduce Immigration, said he doesn't know of any challenges in Wisconsin.

Because resident tuition is subsidized by taxpayer money, Gorak said Wisconsin's law unfairly forces state residents to pay for the education of illegal immigrants.

"It's illegal," Gorak said. "What Wisconsin is doing violates federal law. That's the bottom line. Everything else is just talk."

Wisconsin taxes are already among the highest in the nation and we have lots of unemployed people who do not qualify for $21,000 a year subsidies from the sate.
