Harrell's bond set at $1 million dollars

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The man police say is a person of interest in the murder of 7 year-old Somer Thompson appeared in front of a judge Wednesday morning.

Clay county circuit Judge Collins told Harrell his bond would be set at $1 million-dollars for 29 counts of of possession of child pornography.

Collins asked Harrell if he had anything to say and he replied, "No." Harrell will be held at the Clay County jail and await any other pending charges in the jail. Currently, his next court date will be March 10th.

Harrell arrived at the Clay County Sheriff's Office late Tuesday night. Officers drove Harrell from Meridian, MS where he was arrested and being held on the charges.

Sheriff Rick Beseler announced Harrell as a person of interest in the Somer Thompson case earlier this month. Harrell's former home just blocks from where Somer lived was searched by investigators.

Action News spoke with a source inside the State Attorney's Office who said, "we're not done yet with Jarred Harrell."

They say we'll be seeing a fair amount happen in the next few days.

Now that Harrell is in Clay County, Action News has learned that he will be questioned by Clay County investigators. We're told investigators gathered a great deal of evidence from Harrell's former Orange Park home on Gano Ave. Now, investigators want to see what testimony they can gather from him.

No one at the State Attorney's Office would elaborate on what evidence was gathered, nor would they comment on if DNA was taken from Harrell.

A spokesperson for the Clay County Sheriff's Office told Action News they will not comment until there is an arrest made in the murder.
