well if it is literally soot from fire then le should be able to do an exact match to soot from the house i would think... did anyone see how le gained entry to the building?
i know the article i read said the peaked in thru the window but were there any missing windows or holes in the exterior? how would the killer have gotten in?

Here's  picture of the house:

I believe work was being done on the house on the day in question.

Not 100% sure, but close.

"Kyle" called in to a news reporter and said he saw Somer here that afternoon telling the workers (so they must have been working on it) that they were doing a good job.

About LE getting access to the house, all I know is they waited until they contacted the owner and got permission.

I believe LE stated they had to get full permission from the home owners to enter and do a full search and collection of evidence. They Most likely just peeked in the windows at first.

The killer could have had access by a door or window that was unsecure or open at the time but LE can't just go in a vacant home without permission unless it is exigent circumstances or they could be liable for things that happen and sued.

i hope you guys are right and that it is a first time local sex pred and that they are on his trail...
but even if they are going by trash found near here addresses on mail etc... who's to say that they dumped her near their own home or area of residence
and as far as the no car so dumped in trash theory... maybe but what did he do walk down the street even if at night with her slung over his shoulder in an area that was already crawling with searchers? did he put her in some sort of container that he took back with him... maybe a container that had soot on it? like a drop cloth used in renovations or plastic sheeting used to temp repair holes in roofs windows etc...
i need to know the condition of this house before i drive myself nuts here... any info on the house or maybe a local paper report of the fire?
i hope this is not a neighborhood teenager like in the olsten case
putting her in the trash seems really simple minded to me

i realized that about the needing permission thing and i know the house was re-searched
was the 1st search before they found the body?
i was just wondering at what point did the le guy peek in the window...
and that was what i was asking were there any unsecured entry ways?
my husband does some construction type stuff sometimes because his best friend is a contractor and when they have a job that takes a week or more they tend to leave their expensive tools at the site instead of lugging them in and out all the time... that is why i wonder if it was secured or not... if you areleaving your tools behind you most likely are sure that no one can get in thru a hole or an unlocked door etc..
usually if you have a fire and do the renovation you get a contractor to handle everything not just a guy for this and a guy for that...

Penny for your thoughts . The time frame is what has been driving me crazy.

When did they have time to dump the body in someones trash or near by dumpster? Did they do that right away or stuff the body somewhere then placed it in the trash that night as they claimed they had to leave for some reason and others were focused on specific areas?

When and where did they actually dump her is the biggest question of all.

Great points you have made and the same ones that are driving me nuts.

That is also why i asked the question earlier today about the location of the last 2 crossing guards in relation to the house that was burnt.

I thought it might possibly be the cop that sits between the 2 crossing guards who may have done it or a mail carrier.

i would check myself but i lost the link and i can't hear on my laptop today

i think i read somewhere that they searched thru 600 tons of trash before they found her... that is a chitload of trash they seemed hell bent on thoroughly searching the trash which they said was protocol which leads me to believe they would have been just as diligent in searching dumpsters as well... makes me assume that she was put in the dumpster close to pick up time whether intentional or not... and i really don't get the hasty trash dump because of no car that means he had to have transported the body on foot...
not all molesters kill
was this a spur of the moment opportunity or was it planned?
so why did this guy?
could she have id'ed him?
was he interrupted and had to silence her immediately?
was it an accident?
in short WTF

You are welcome penny for your thoughts.

I have been very curious if that officer was on duty that day and where the house is compared to where that officer sits.

This may end up being a case where the LE have to investigate one of their own. I don't think that is the case but it could be a possibility. I read a story yesterday about a kidnap and killing and it was one of their own. I don't know i guess you never know.

Yes, we did discuss him when it was discovered that his brother, James Vinson owns the company that has done renovation work on the house at 1080 Gano Avenue.

Not sure exactly when the discussion began, as in what page to send you to, though.

I agree!

I really wish we knew Kyle's last name. Why he was at that house at that time. Where he saw Somer go after she told the crew working on the house what a good job they were doing. Very odd also that he PHONED in his info saying he was the last person to have seen Somer. (The last person would be her murderer as far as I can see.) Just very odd, IMO.
