Apparently, the picture on the right LEFT was taken last month, so the new "look" is new.

And it appears that Kellam was allowed to slip through the cracks of Florida Law Enforcement. He was released from prison in January of 2008, but didn't register as a sex offender until last month, after Tifton authorities contacted Florida law enforcement.

yea and he buys himself a van...for what? definitely strange... but he does only like boys as far as we know...
although (and i honestly have no idea why they did) but didn't le search a local abandoned house and take away evidence? you know who like abandoned houses? .... homeless people....

Hi Monkeys, hope you are doing well.

Did anyone catch Mike Galanos Prime News on HLN today? He had an FBI agent on to talk about Somer's case. I can't find the transcript or video but it was the first time I have heard anyone in the news talk about this case the way I feel about it...Mike asked the FBI agent Brent (?) if this seemed like an experienced predator and he said "No, not at all." I am paraphrasing but he said what MANY of us have said here--it is unusual for these experienced predators to take a child in broad daylight, in a crowded area, and then put the body in the local trash within a very short period of time. I wish I could remember exactly what he said, but he talked about the fact that he thinks they should be looking closer at family, friends, and neighbors and looking at the family home as a possible crime scene. He wasn't accusing the family, but he sounded like he knew his "stuff."

Lord knows the LE are working hard. And I am sure they are looking at all angles. But I have to say I'm very disappointed at the way the local media has been handling this case. They aren't doing investigative reporting. It's all about the vigils, fundraisers, etc. Believe me, I am for charity and kindness 100%. I am all about communities supporting each other. But there is a buzz around town about people wondering why the family needs this much money, what it will be used for, who is controlling it.

In other recent cases of this type around the country, were there a lot of fundraisers? I don't recall, to be honest. I usually hear about donations for sick children or orphaned children. 

Just from memory, the community has raised 20000.00 at a carnival, there were a couple motorcycle rides to raise money, there was a billiards tournament, and various other fundraisers. This is not including the fundraisers for the reward money--this is all money going directly to Somer's family. As we've learned, the funeral expenses, the hotel accommodations, etc were all paid for by area businesses.

No one argues that Diena and the rest of the family are suffering very much. She'll need counseling (which the area hospice will provide for free). But people are questioning why this much money is going directly to the family rather than to a charity in Somer's honor. The state pays victims a certain amount for related expenses. Also, there's life insurance, short term disability, and so on. Since Somer's dad was military, there may be money from that.

PLEASE don't think I am being mean. I am writing this out of concern for other families who have had extreme tragedies but maybe aren't as vocal or camera friendly as Diena is able to be. I am thinking of minorities in particular...

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - When Kenneth Kellam moved into a homeless shelter in South Georgia, they ran a criminal background check. It didn't reveal his record since those cases were from Florida.

We now know that while living at the shelter, Kellam was investigated for approaching a young boy in a Tifton neighborhood in the same manner two Albany boys claim he approached them.

We know that Kenneth Kellam's Method of operation is consistent. When he was convicted in 2003, it was for approaching two young boys and telling them he wanted them to take a look at some pictures.

That's the same thing he told two young boys here, and the same message he had for a 12-year-old in Tifton several months ago.

Brother Charlie's Rescue Center in Tifton works to help people who are down on their luck, but to get a bed in this shelter, residents must go through a background check.  Pastor Mark Stone said, "It's not easy to get in because we have an obligation not only to help people, but to protect the community."

When Kenneth Kellam showed up here in May of last year, the background check didn't reveal his Florida convictions for false imprisonment or impersonating a police officer.

Stone said, "Had absolutely no Georgia criminal background history. He was not listed as a sex offender. I wished he had of been because he would not have been allowed to stay here at all."

can we get the arrest report or court transcript from kuhn's arrest?
I spent 10 minutes looking at his deceased girlfriends memorial slideshow and i think it is weird he was only possibly in 1 out 0f prob 30 or more pictures and he was surrounded by kids... are all s/o required to stay away from kids?
can we find out the age of his victim? i know up here in mass we have different age laws like a person under 12 a person under 16 etc... but as far as i can tell florida is one of those under 18 no dice law states... i would liketo know if he was molesting a 17 year old or a 7 year old... it does make a diffrence
