Ummm.....change of VENUE because residents in her COUNTY are "unfair" by their public comments? Well forget counties... move STATES for Heaven's sake.. come to Louisiana... we would LOVE to make judgement on your future here!! Good LORD! Elizabeth had NO choice on whether HER death was fair or not...this is just sickening... blah!

QUESTION:: When people plea not guilty, does this set them up for pleading insanity? If so, wouldn't it just be easier for her defense team to plea insanity now?

Louisiana I have to say I agree with you. I really don't think it matters where they send the little monster...no jury is going to look overlook the nature of this crime. As far as those newspaper comments...anyone from anywhere can express their comments in that local newspaper. Point being, I wonder if they have stopped to think that those comments are not from just the locals there. Unfortunately she will probably get her change of venue honored...but I don't think its going to do her any good. I'm not sure about the question you asked on here...I'll leave that up to the expert monkeys. Have a great day!

ALSO, it could benefit her staying put....some people may feel bad for her or support her like that idiotic girl on myspace who was interviewed on TV. Where Alyssa is NOW is probably the ONLY place she is going to have ANY supporters.

Okay I need you folks' help. The indictment list 228 Lomo Dr. as Alyssa's address. When I look this up on Google Earth it shows 228 is directly in front of the Olten residence. It also shows 626 Lomo as being further down the road from Alyssa's house. Is it just that Mapquest and Google Earth are incorrect? I am really confused. Also What house is this one supposed to be? Thanks for your help.

Both homes are the same. They look different because the builder pic is from 2007 (I think). It doesn't appear on Google maps, but it was built behind the existing residence with the inground pool.

Look for more pics on my pb and it might make sense. Or not. Anyways, that is where the Bustamante children live(d) with grandparents, Karen and Gary Brooke.

The picture that is from the builders site is NOT the house at 626 lomo dr. I drove past there the other day and the house at 626 is much bigger and white not off-white, and appears to not to be brick (liek the picture), but siding.

Also if you look at the builders website the house in the picture is wood-framed (interior pictures are available too), and in their testimonial KB/GB clearly state that they have a steel framed house.

The house located at 626 Lomo is the big house (it's actually light yellow) the house at 228 Lomo is the house owned by Karen Brooke, it is a daycare now.  The 626 Lomo is very new so it doesnt appear on some of the map sites.

Change of venue sought in teen murder trial

An attorney for a teen accused of murdering her nine year-old neighbor is seeking a change of venue for her trial.

Jefferson City, Mo. (WiredPRNews.com) – An attorney for a Missouri teen accused of murdering her nine year-old neighbor is requesting that his client’s trial be moved out of her home county. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), public defender Jan King requested a change of venue this week, citing 15 year-old Alyssa Bustamante would not be able to receive a fair trial in Cole County due to resident bias.

King is quoted as writing in his motion, “The inhabitants of this county are so prejudiced against the defendant that a fair trial cannot be had in this county.”

Bustamante has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the death of Elizabeth Olten, who was found with her throat cut in October. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

I am no JessStar or other legal expert, but as long as a defendant pleads not guilty it remains the burden on the State to prove otherwise.  If a defendant pleads insanity, it is my understanding they have a burden of proving she is insane.  Maybe someone will correct me if I am mistaken, which is soooo very possible.

Thank God for the man upstairs who is our judge in the end   Also, they posted some "normal" pictures of Alyssa...did they really think the picture of her holding her fingers like a gun towards her head and fake blood coming out of her mouth was normal??? HA stupid people.

I found the Elizabeth Olten post offensive as well. Only Elizabeth's family should be making the statements of forgiveness in her name, not someone hidding behind Elizabeth's name.  

PS. I do not think those "normal" photos will help get signers either.  They should have stuck with school photos, family photos etc. to generate symmpathy for Alyssa.

I agree with you bigmoney...I honestly don't think that petition is going anywhere either. I just think it's some her friends and new fans that think she should just be released. Well hate to tell these teens the world doesn't work that way. I often wonder if they (Alyssa's friends) really stop to think about what she did. I also wonder if Alyssa would've murdered one of their siblings or loved ones...would they still be supportive of her? I don't think so...but I guess they are okay with their friend, because it was just some neighbor kid down the road. Hopefully some of these kids will come to their senses.

I would imagine there cannot be any other type of defense than some type of mental defect type of thing.  I am sure the evidence is extremely compelling so a "not guilty" is probabaly "not likely".  Any defense attorney would try to get her something less than the maximum penalty. Prosecutor Richardson has said he is not interested in anything less than life without possibility of parole. The only thing there is to do is try to get her any lesser of a sentence. I personally believe she will be incarcerated for the rest of her life.
