Night Monkeys. I pray for Shaniyah and that her killer is brought to justice.

I am very very tired and worried about my Mom's surgery Wednesday. She will be fine, but I still worry.

Thanksgiving is coming and then Christmas and then I have to go on vacation. I always have an overwhelming sense of doom when I go away.

I am about to lay down too.I have had all I can take today.

JSM, your mom will be fine. You have some dread about the holidays only because it cuts into your monkey time. Solution: Tell mom and dad to buy you a laptop, with a wifi card from your cell phone company! Then, we'll always be right where you need us!

Is your mom having surgery in the same hospital as you? I hope so, then you can be there a lot.

I think I am mostly dreading time away from the monkeys. I thought about asking for a laptop, since we fought over my mom's in DC  . Plus if worse comes to worse, I can try and look at Monkeys on my blackberry.

She is having surgery at my hospital so I can go back and forth like I did with my stepmom.

I did find out that there are beer stores where we are going, so maybe I have a glimmer of hope.

Okay Monkeys, I think my sister and I have been really bad daughters.

My mom called and said she is having surgery on her back next Wednesday, not looking at the calendar I said "well enough you should be able to cook Thanksgiving dinner".  Arrrggghhhh, I didn't realize that Thanksgiving is NEXT week.   

So being the good mother that she is, she has changed her surgery to day after tomorrow so she can be home for Thanksgiving, BUT she wants me to make dressing for the turkey. HOLY CRAP!!! I can't cook dressing unless it comes from Stove Top Stuffing in a box. What am I gonna do?   

  I am sorry to hear this about your Mom I hope she is going to be ok, with that she is sure to be slow moving to cook Thanksgiving dinner so all the help she can get I am sure will be the best.  Dressing is not hard to do and if you have to Stove Top is very good - I have made it with quick meals at home and instead of using the water it calls for I used chicken broth it jazzes it up a bit and is soooo good. 

Thanks Mission. I possibly may think about making it myself, but Stove Top is pretty good and if I make it I will use chicken broth. THanks for the tip.

Now, JSM, don't worry. You know the most important part of any surgery is the anesthesia and I am sure her husband has that covered and she will have the best ! She will also have so many people praying for her that she will be better in no time. Patients used to be hospitalized for a week to ten days for back surgery. Now they are often out of bed the same day and home the next. I know you can't help but worry but you will all be in our prayers.

Thanks Blumonkey. I know she will be fine, I just worry about her. This is her second back surgery and she isn't looking forward to it. Thanks for the prayers. 

That is exactly why I am not having the FIRST surgery. It always seems to lead to more.

Well, there ya go! You're all set. And pond skating rules!! I think maybe you're afraid of the cold? Remember, outside skating puts roses in your cheeks and raspberries on your butt! It's way more fun than rink skating, what with all the little cracks and bumps and kids playing crack-the-whip!

Super easy sausage and leek stuffing.

1 lb pork sausage meat (not ground pork - must be the pre-spiced sausage meat you can find in the meat counter.  We get them here in 1lb tubes in the meat freezer)
1 large leek or 2 medium leeks
2 boxes stove top stuffing (whatever your favourite is)


Fry up the sausage meat making sure it is crumbled and seperated until browned.  Cut the green part and root part off of the leeks.  Slice leek lengthwise cutting halfway through.  Open layers and wash out leek with running tap water really well as leeks have sand between the layers.  Thinly slice leeks so you get leek circles.  Add leek slices to sausage meat and cook on medium until they are tender.  In a large bowl make mix stove top with the amount of boiling water according to package.  Add sausage and leek mixture and  mix.  Put in oven safe dish, cover with tin foil  and bake at 350 for 20 mins.  Done!  You can also use this mixture to stuff the turkey with but cut back on the water or it comes out too runny.

I got kicked out of the cage. So Northern is this like breakfast sausage? How many does this serve? TIA JSM

It is ground pork sausage that comes in a 1lb tube or bag like ground beef, the one I get here just says pork sausage meat on it.  It would serve 8 if they are all stuffing lovers.
