I just got a called that my uncle passed away yesterday.  This is so sad as he was alone in his life and was found today by the lady that looked after him.  It was his birthday yesterday too.

I should note - second call was 1 hour and 33 minutes long before the third dude told me to keep calling "till I got lucky".

I am still in the queue and it has been 34 minutes for call 3.

OMG Northern Rose I am sorry - I feel your frustration I absolutely hate it when you sit and wait and wait and wait it is enough to make you want to hurt someone.  I will cross my fingers you get your answers and the problem is solved. 

3rd call had to wait 54 minutes until I got a live body.  Lovely girl with a southern accent.  Took her all of 15 minutes to ask the questions, and tell me the console needed to be shipped in and arrange for it  I asked for her supervisor to compain about the other call centre.  He was nice but frustrated.  Basically told me that it was not policy to treat customers like that ...yada yada yada, but the offshore sites  they really have no controll over as the complaints get sent to the same person who told me to "keep calling till I got lucky" so not a lot is going to happen with the compaint.  NOTE again Do not buy Xbox unless you are prepared for this.  The offshores  do not have  way of transferring anyone if they ask for a north American operator.  I asked if hanging up was the solution when someone asked for a English person and he said officially no, but it happens all the time because they can not transfer.      

Now to punish myself even more I am about to call EA games as both the special edition bass and guitar that came with the Rockband Beatles bundle are fubar'd.  Wish me luck that I do not end up in call centre hell again! Can only imagine if it is offshore how they will deal with the language thing when I say  "my Rickenbacker does not work with down strokes".          

OMG as I am reading this I am feeling anxiety and anger - when you get done with this major project (which should have been more like a simple task) pour yourself a nice cocktail and breathe!!!

I started this fun filled journey at 10:00a.m this morning.  Kids buses start showing up in 20 minutes    

EA games are AMAZING TO DEAL WITH.  Did the troubleshooting on their website and at the end says I need to call in. So I call in and after I make my choice of Rockband I am on hold for all of 3 minutes, get a guy in California (their call centre is in California somewhere but could not tell me where for security reasons) .  Tell him my Rickenbacker does not work with down strokes (and he understands what I am saying instead of it turning into a very bad phone sexish call like what I was expecting with a language barrier).  He give me two RMA numbers, will be shipping out replacements and I ship back bad guitars once I get them..all accomplished in 10 minutes.  And he sent me an email within minutes of hanging up with what the call was about, the RMA numbers, his name (I am loving me some James right now) and a number to call him at if there is any delay in getting the guitars or anything else he can help me with. 

                    

    I'm glad the second call went better for you Northern. I hate talking to people on help lines like that, especially when they say their name is "Dave" and you just know "Dave's" last name is Mehta or Patel.

How very sad Northern Rose, you and your family are in my prayers 

Thank you.  He had a very troubled life and was alone mostly due to his love of drinking.  I had to call his son in Germany and let him know.  That was not easy.  I might have to do the arrangements for him if no one else steps up  which means going to Vancouver.  I hope that my other Uncle , (his brother) who lives in BC steps up but from my call with him it does not look like he is going to.  This is really very sad.

11/24/2009 - BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan -- Gary Sinise     and the "Lt. Dan Band" made their first appearance in Afghanistan, Nov. 23, 2009, performing for hundreds of Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Coastguardsmen here.

This visit is one in a long line of entertainment and celebrity visits to boost morale of servicemembers who are away from home and their loved ones during the holidays, according to the Armed Forces Entertainment director, Col. Edward Shock.

That sentiment of thanking the troops during the holidays was echoed by the visitors.

"We understand and appreciate your sacrifice; we do not take you for granted," Mr. Sinise told the crowd. "We're grateful for you and your service and the sacrifice of your loved ones back home. Your families sacrifice so much, so often and we know they miss you. Thank you."

Mr. Sinise also visited a remote Army outpost near the Pakistan border where he met with Soldiers and distributed humanitarian supplies to more than 50 Afghan children.

While Mr. Sinise visited the remote outpost, other actors visited Bagram's Craig Joint Theater Hospital to meet the staff and visit with patients.

"You all have a first-rate facility," said actor Michael T. Williams, also known as "Bubba" from the "Forrest Gump" movie. "You're using equipment and techniques that we're not even seeing in the states.

"I am so grateful for their sacrifice," he continued. "I pray to God daily for the men and women who go through there."

Comedian Kevin Farley, actress Kristy Swanson     and television personality LeeAnn Tweeden visited troops. The visit was a partnership between AFE, the USO and American Airlines.

"I think it's really good they're here supporting the troops," said Staff Sgt. Henrie Young, from the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing Safety office before a thunderous applause from a cover of Neil Young's "Teenage Wasteland."

The Lt. Dan Band has traveled all over the world playing popular music and visiting servicemembers and families, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Korean Demilitarized Zone and many other remote military bases.

JMO Finally some happy news coming out of Afghanistan, now lets send troops, hellfire and Predator drones too!!

Oh Northern Rose, I am so sorry to hear about your uncle and the situation you are in now. Very sad. I wish you the strength to deal with what you have to do. I am very sorry.

On another note, I have decided to post the Christmas avatars earlier than Dec. 1 so people can change from Thanksgiving straight to Christmas. I began posting them this afternoon and will probably be up all night posting them.
