Good Morning all and Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you to all who have served our great Country!

I found this article about the 2 week old missing baby from yesterday:

Family: Missing S.C. Infant Found Unharmed In Bag

Posted: 4:54 pm EST November 10, 2009
CONWAY, S.C. -- Authorities say a 2-week-old South Carolina infant missing overnight has been returned unharmed to his mother.

Conway Police spokeswoman Catina Hipp says Sharawn Jerod Chestnut Jr. was found Tuesday afternoon and returned to his mother. The infant was found following a news conference about his disappearance.

Hipp says details will follow.

WMBF-TV reported that family spokeswoman Bernadette Baker says the baby was found in a plastic bag under the seat of a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot. Baker is the infant's great aunt.

Officers were called to the home about midnight. The mother, Criche Nelson, told police she put her 1-year-old daughter and infant son to bed around 11 p.m., and he was missing when she checked on them an hour later.

What a strange story, but thankfully the baby was unharmed. Thanks, Darla

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - A Myrtle Beach woman was charged Wednesday in the disappearance of a 2-week-old baby in Conway.

Authorities charged Annette Melissa Rich, 30, with kidnapping Wednesday. Conway Police say she took Sharawn Jerod Chestnut Jr. from his home on Duckett Street late Monday night, which led to a 16-hour search for the infant.

A judge set bond at $75,000. A second person was questioned by police in connection with the kidnapping and released.

Conway Police say officers were dispatched to home shortly after midnight Tuesday when Criche Nelson reported Sharawn missing. Nelson told police she put her 1-year-old daughter and Sharawn to bed around 11 p.m., and when she returned to check on the two, Sharawn was missing.

Officers frantically searched the area surrounding Nelson's home Tuesday, but were unsuccessful in finding the boy.

At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Conway Police, Sharawn's mother and great aunt Bernadette Baker held a press conference pleading with the public to help find the infant.

"I wouldn't have expected it," the infant's mother said. "I'll be more careful with my surroundings."

Less than one hour later, Conway Police spokeswoman Catina Hipp announced Sharawn had been located unharmed and was reunited with his mother.

Baker says the baby was found in a plastic bag under the seat of a truck parked in front of the Shoney's restaurant in Conway. She adds a best friend of the mother took the infant and planned to pass Sharawn off as her own.

"I'm just happy. I'm just glad I have my child," Nelson said minutes after her reunion with Sharawn. "I thank God for him."

Rich was Tuesday evening in connection to the infant's disappearance.

Great post, Mission. IMO all of your examples could be true in today's world.  It seems that this country is bent on suicide.  After 9/11 I really thought that our understanding of terrorism and the dangers it presents would be topmost in our government's plans to protect the country.  But instead of facing and diminishing the real danger, we have resorted to silly things which are represented by the examples in your post.  Few even remember that New York was attacked by an enemy whose duty is to kill us all.  IMO it is too horrific for many to remember and confront so we have become infected with a sort of Stockholm syndrome which compels us to nitpick our society and ignore the very real dangers confronting us, which resulted in the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood.

While we could have become strong and courageous after 9/11, we no longer take the threat seriously and consider a child with an aspirin to be more dangerous than a terrorist with a semi-automatic weapon pointing at our collective heads.

We will, unfortunately, reap what we sow.

Very well put Babybear - they say we are fighting a war on terror but what frightens me is where?  Where are we waging war?  I think it is time for this administration to start fighting the war against terrorism right here on our own soil we have become complacent and the big one is coming again - it is just a matter of time.  I don't know when they will realize it is time to seal the borders and take control of how many and who are entering this great country of ours - they don't get it.

You're right, Mission.  They don't get it.  And I fear that the big one coming is a nuclear explosion in one or more of our big cities.  It will be too late then.  As Dr. Hasan said in one of his diatribes, "We love death more than we love life." Don't these PC politicians in Washington understand that not only we, but they will be destroyed as well. It's as if many in positions of authority think that maybe if they pretend or even truly understand and like the enemy, they will go easy on us.  But they won't.  They have no humanity.  They have no mercy.

So so true Babybear. And until the devastation of another attack affects one of them directly nothing will be done - if they have no concern for our lives then I hate to say this that if and when the next attack happens may it happen in their own backyards, I never wish ill will to anyone but it may take just that to get things done.
