SuzieQ,

It looks to me like you can only see one shoe, and it may be a slipper.

If it's not a slipper, it's a brown leather loafer maybe.  imo

Jen3560,

Thanks for the NC and NJ articles.  It's all coming back to me, now.

YW!  A deer friend dug those up for me.  We work as a great team - my memory sticks on the little, seemingly unimportant details  - but not necessarily the whole enchilada.  My good pal can nearly read my mind, and grabs the whole story for me.

Sometimes the silly things I remember matter - other times not.  Like in this instance, most likely.

Dutch again summon Venezuela ambassador on comments
By Ben Berkowitz Ben Berkowitz 26 mins ago
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen on Friday denied fresh accusations by the Venezuelan government that the Netherlands is supporting U.S. spy flights over Venezuelan territory.

Verhagen condemned the comments as "inaccurate, unjust and really out of place" in a statement on Friday and said he would summon Venezuela's ambassador again to explain the remarks.

Twice in the past two weeks, the government of President Hugo Chavez has publicly claimed that the Dutch have let the U.S. military launch spy flights from bases on the territories of Aruba and Curacao under the guise of drug surveillance missions.

On December 17 Chavez said the Netherlands was planning "aggression" against Venezuela in concert with the United States, and on Thursday his government again charged the Dutch with "complicity" in such plans.

Verhagen said the Netherlands had made clear to the Venezuelan government that the civilian airports in the Dutch islands have been made available to the United States solely for unarmed drug surveillance missions.

The United States has for years had a military presence on Curacao and Aruba, with about 250 Air Force crew and ground staff involved in counter-narcotics and surveillance operations over the Caribbean region.

In its statement on Thursday, the Venezuelan government questioned whether that was their true purpose.

"The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela doubts the installations that the Netherlands government has put at the disposition of U.S. military contingents are used in the fight against drugs," it said.

The Foreign Ministry, which summoned the Venezuelan ambassador last month, said on Friday it wanted to see the ambassador again "quickly" to clarify the new comments.

The alleged threat of U.S. intervention in the oil-producing South American nation has become a central element of Chavez's discourse and a rallying cry for his supporters.

While he is Latin America's loudest U.S. critic, foes say Chavez is hyping the idea of a foreign threat to distract Venezuelans from pressing domestic problems such as economic recession, rampant crime and inadequate public services.

DEN HAAG - "New allegations of Venezuela, Curacao and Aruba by the United States used to attack the country to prepare, are incorrect, unfounded and really out of place." Says Minister Maxime Verhagen (Foreign Affairs) .

He wants the Venezuelan ambassador in the Netherlands next week again will give a full explanation on the statements of President Chávez.

Chávez on Thursday again claimed that the Netherlands by American spy planes allows Hato and from the airport Reina Beatrix. "The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela doubts that plants that the Dutch government has made available to the U.S. military used in the fight against drugs", it said in its statement. The Venezuelan ambassador also noted the last time that the Americans are only concerned with combating drug trafficking.

In his statement, however, Chavez stressed again that the United States to use the Netherlands Antilles to Venezuela for an attack to prepare. Verhagen dismissed the allegations of Chávez yesterday of the hand. "The allegations are false and unsubstantiated. Netherlands let its territory be used for aggression and seeks good relations with Venezuela after, "Verhagen said. He wants quick clarification on the words of Chávez.

A spokesman for a U.S. Army division in Miami, Stephen Lucas, the U.S. military denies violating Venezuelan airspace and other motifs are present in Aruba and Curaçao. "It is unfortunate that the Venezuelan government has chosen to cooperate in the anti-drug measures to reduce the threat because of the smuggling is for all nations in the region," he said. "Our operations on the islands of Curacao and Aruba are therefore only focus on drugs and have absolutely nothing to do with politics in Venezuela."

At the climate summit in Copenhagen last December, Chavez said in a speech to leftist organizations that the United States with the consent of Aruba and Curacao Netherlands 'to the teeth' arm.

The leftist president, U.S. troops in preparation for a possible invasion of Venezuela intelligence officers, war ships and spy planes transferred to Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.

Chávez claimed that the three islands in the territorial waters of Venezuela lie.

Chavez appealed to the European Union to help prevent an armed conflict. He said that the Netherlands is a member of the European Union and that he therefore wants to know how Brussels think about the issue.

Verhagen: Accusation Venezuela incorrect

THE HAGUE — “The new accusations from Venezuela that Curaçao and Aruba are being used by the United States to prepare an attack on the country, are incorrect, groundless and totally unfounded”. Minister Maxime Verhagen (Foreign Affairs) states the aforementioned.

He wants the Venezuelan ambassador in the Netherlands to give chapter and verse on the statements of president Chávez once again during the course of next week. Chávez had repeated his accusation last Thursday that the Netherlands had enabled espionage flights by the United States from the Hato and Reina Beatrix airports. His statement mentioned that, “the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela doubts that the installations provided by the Dutch government to the American army could be used in drug combating”. The Venezuelan ambassador had already been informed the last time that the Americans had only dealt with combating drug smuggling.

However, in his statement, Chávez underlined once again that the United States are using the Netherlands Antilles to prepare an attack on Venezuela. Verhagen had strongly refuted the accusations from Chávez yesterday. “The accusations are incorrect and groundless. The Netherlands does not allow its territory to be used for aggression and strives for good relations with Venezuela” according to Verhagen. He requests prompt clarity on the words spoken by Chávez.

A spokesperson from an American army detachment in Miami, Stephen Lucas, also denies that American soldiers had violated the Venezuelan airspace and were present on Aruba and Curaçao for other motives. “It is regrettable that the Venezuelan government has chosen to reduce their cooperation in the anti-drug actions as the smuggling threat applies for all nations in the region”, he said. “Our operations on the islands Curaçao and Aruba are therefore only targeted towards drugs and have absolutely nothing to do with politics in Venezuela.”

In a speech for left-winged organizations during the climate summit in Copenhagen last December, Chávez stated that the United States were arming Aruba and Curaçao ‘to the teeth’ with the approval of the Netherlands.

According to the socialist President, the American soldiers had transported intelligence officers, warships and espionage aircrafts to Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire in preparation for a possible invasion of Venezuela.

Chávez had stated that the three islands were located in the territorial waters of Venezuela.

Chávez had called on the European Union to help prevent an armed conflict. He stated that the Netherlands is a member of the European Union and that’s why he would appreciate to know Brussels’ point of view on the matter.

Thanks for all of these, you two.  I've been saying for nearly 4 years that Chavez needs to be taken out.  The man's hero is Fidel Castro.    He's one scary, unstable freak!!  I really sat up and paid attention when Ole Nellie snuggled up with him over that pipeline in June 2008.

Positive
Premier Mike Eman (AVP) had also held his speech on the radio. Amongst others, he thanked the police who are having a ‘difficult’ time these days with the stricter performance for the sake of security. In spite of the difficult economical times, Eman still expressed his hope for the future. As example, he mentioned the burden relief enabling more buying power for the population. Eventually, the citizens will also notice the difference regarding the investment in alternative energy, which will be followed-up next year. The Premier is also pleased with the new relationship with the Netherlands, which will have positive results, according to him. As an example, Eman cites the return of the KLM next year.

I do hope that Eman can rebuild the sanctity that must once have been Aruba.  I hope he can instill values, morals and integrity back into her citizens.  I hope he can generate a measure of trust, faith and hope for her citizens in her government once again.  I hope he can create a climate where those who know what happened to Natalee no longer feel fearful about coming forward.

I believe his dispersing with the unfounded pride that his predecessors put forth above all else, in eagerly accepting help and instruction from the Netherlands is a good sign that he has only the best interests of the Aruban citizen at heart.

ORANGE CITY - The director of Lotto Pa Deporte, Endy Croes, together with financial director Ricky Croes put on non-active, pending an independent internal investigation. At a meeting yesterday afternoon, the Board indicated that both an investigation into their policies.

"Everything is screened," said Vinda de Sousa, spokesman and secretary of the Board of Directors of Lotto Pa Deporte. "The accounts of Lotto is examined by the Central Audit Department (CAD) and the Curacao office of accounting firm Ernst & Young. The process as quickly and with minimal resistance smoothly, we have two men decided to put on non-active. "

Reason for the study according to De Sousa that the new administration, which since November has been appointed by the government, documents have been facing that reason, to the opening of an internal investigation. "There are indications that things are not properly conducted. The research focuses on the overall picture of Lotto, but these studies usually focus on the financial policy, "said De Sousa. It is intended that the report of the study in about two months to finish. In the meantime sit Endy and Ricky Croes (also no relation) at home.

When the investigation is finished, both directors are called to be heard. "Then it becomes clear whether or not we have to negotiate our departure," said Endy Croes, who is convinced that this is a politically motivated action by the Board of Directors. "Politicians have been calling for years that we have to be investigated. So this action does not come as a surprise to me. Such political pursuits because they do like. "Croes says that he did not even know who all in the new administration of Lotto Pa Deporte sitting on the chair and secretary Thönissen Reo De Sousa after.

Interestingly, the Board of Directors of Lotto Pa Deporte own initiative an investigation. Cabinet Mike Eman early November I have all Boards of all public and board members of foundations where the government is responsible for appointments, asked to resign. The entire board of Lotto Pa Deporte then served her resignation. Finance Minister De Meza (AVP) was also announced to all public and financial foundations to vetting by the CAD.

The conscious minister was arrested by police for speeding, got a warning. "He received no fine because that day we were busy with a preventive action. This means that all drivers who cause too hard and were arrested on that day, there came a warning from it and were aware of the consequences of driving at excess speed, "said De Witte. The chief explains that there are days when the police preventive people continues and issues alerts on other days and that enforcement action is taken and people get fines if they drive too fast.

Penalty
The fines imposed by the Public Prosecutor (OM). Who between 16 and 25 kilometer driving too fast, get a fine of 175 florin. Between 26 and 30 kilometer speeding, delivers a fine of 300 florin. Drivers who are between 30 and 50 kilometer speeding, fined and given a four months suspended sentence. The worst traffic offenders with more than 50 kilometer to get a hefty speeding fine and four months unconditional punishment. "The intention of the police is not to scare people off and just fine to share. The traffic police wants her behavior is so that it has fewer accidents. Thus, in 2008, according to De Witte around 6000 accidents recorded. "This is the police so these actions will significantly reduce," said De Witte. The commissioner notes that the police are pleased with the cooperation of commerce and the prevention of speeding. He cited the example of the Tiesto event that took place on December 26. There were close to the show several signs posted that warned it was hard and drunk driving. The placement of speed signs on various roads on the island produces the desired result according to the Chief. "People think when seeing a sign like it: Oh yes now I 80 kilometer ride."

There will be a Fundraiser for Texas EquuSearch on January 23, 2010 at Marguerite’s, 3330 Avenue A, Santa Fe, Texas 77510 (downloadable flyer below). We will be raffling a 2009 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe (see picture below). If you previously purchased raffle ticket(s) for the cancelled fundraiser last July, THEY WILL BE HONORED. Additionally, each ticket you purchased for $20.00 will now have three (3) chances to win. We will be contacting each person who bought a ticket, and then fill out two (2) additional tickets to go in the drawing. The reason for this is that the new tickets are being sold for $10.00 each, or three (3) for $20.00.

We are in need of volunteers to help secure donated items for the Live and Silent Auctions. In addition, we will need volunteers to serve BBQ plates, along with other miscellaneous duties the day of the Fundraiser. (We need donations of side dishes, buns and condiments. If you are able to get donations for these items, please coordinate this with the office so we can keep up with all donations.) Please contact Sherry at the office, (281) 309-9500, or email sherry.mckinney@texasequusearch.org., to volunteer for any assistance or donations. Thank you so much.

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.
