Why is it so hard to add one simple amendment that prevents funding/covering abortion?

The president made comments that it's not an abortion bill, but a healthcare bill.

Why not just spell out that abortion isn't part of the package?

I've hear the presidents comments several times and I think the words matter.

He doesn't want to change what already exists...

Where are taxpayer dollars currently being used to fund / pay for abortions?

Are there funds being channelled through community organizations and their subsidiaries that are being used?

I seem to recall something Obama did to reverse Bush regarding paying for abortions.  Don't remember everything, but I think it had to do with funding abortions for women in foreign countries.

Are there laws on the books that will 'sunset' and allow abortion when they expire?
