A North Carolina woman charged with human trafficking in the disappearance of her 5-year-old daughter is out of jail.

Cumberland County Sheriff spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said on Wednesday that Antoinette Davis was released Sunday night on a $51,000 bond.

Davis has been charged with filing a false police report, trafficking her daughter and child abuse involving prostitution. Shaniya Davis was found dead several days after her disappearance in November.

Mario McNeill has been charged with the girl's murder, rape and kidnapping. A search warrant says McNeill picked up Shaniya in front of her home and drove her to a hotel where she was last seen alive.

Slain Fayetteville girl's mother released on bond

Fayetteville, N.C. — The Fayetteville woman accused of prostituting her 5-year-old daughter, who was then killed, has been released on bond, authorities said Wednesday.

Antoinette Nicole Davis, 25, was released Sunday from North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, where she was held in a safe-keeping cell, on a $51,000 bond. Cumberland County deputies then returned her to Fayetteville, authorities said.

Shaniya Nicole Davis was reported missing from her home on Nov. 10. Her body was found in a patch of kudzu off a rural road near the Lee-Harnett County line six days later.

Antoinette Davis is charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse–prostitution, filing a false police report and obstructing a police investigation. Arrest warrants state that Davis "did knowingly provide Shaniya with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude" and "did permit an act of prostitution with Shaniya."

Her bond was initially set in November at $50,000 on the human trafficking and child abuse charges and $1,000 on the obstruction and false report charges, attorney D.W. Bray said Wednesday. A family member posted the bond this weekend, he said.
Antoinette Davis was staying Wednesday with an aunt on Mary Street, off Ramsey Street, in Fayetteville. Her uncle, Arthur Cromartie, said she was "doing fine."

"She just wants to rest and get herself together," Cromartie said. "It's hard being behind bars."

Mario Andrette McNeill, 29, of 2613 Pine Springs Drive, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree rape of a child and first-degree kidnapping in the case. Police have characterized him as a family acquaintance.

McNeill is being held without bond in a safe-keeping cell at Central Prison.

An autopsy determined that Shaniya died of asphyxiation and that injuries she suffered were consistent with a sexual assault. A medical examiner noted in the autopsy that investigators believe the girl was used to pay off a drug debt.

Trash is too good of a word for these creatures. Trash can be put to good use for something. But not these evil creatures. They need to be put out of their misery instantly.

IDK. It's probably harder, as a five year old, to be raped by grown man. You can never be sure though so I don't wanna make assumptions. Of course, I don't wanna trivialize the hardships of being in jail...in protective custody. Or inhaling oxygen when you don't deserve to be alive and in good health in the first place. Yeah, she's got it tuff.

I bet it's harder being a baby who's been raped to death.

I hope she walks in front of a train.

Agreed!
It's hard being behind bars!
Yeah..it's even harder being a 5 yr old who is now dead! I sincerely hate this woman who gave birth to Shaniya...and I don't say that about too many people , but I do hate her...If I was Shaniya's aunt Carrie, who cared and took care of her, I would be in jail cause I would be beating this woman's arse!

Shaniya Davis Case Update: Antoinette Davis is Released From Jail
February 24, 8:14 PMRaleigh Headlines ExaminerLoretta Arnold
In a surprising twist in the Shaniya Davis murder case Antoinette Davis is released from jail.  Antoinette Davis' family posted bond to have her released from jail until the next court date of April 15, 2010.  The latest development means that Antoinette Davis can leave North Carolina's Correctional Institute for Women, but must return to the Cumberland County Courthouse when required.

Antoinette Davis has been charged with human trafficking, felony child abuse involving prostitution, resisting a police officer, and filing a false police report.  However, Antoinette Davis has not been charged with the murder of her biological daughter, Shaniya Davis.

Antoinette Davis reported 5-year-old Shaniya Davis missing.  One week later the news headlines read Shaniya Davis Found in Lee County.  Shaniya Davis' body was located out of view in a wooded area.

Soon after Shaniya's disappearance Mario McNeill was charged with first-degree, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree murder based on a Sanford hotel surveillance video, Shaniya Davis' autopsy and other evidence.  Shaniya Davis died of asphyxiation.

The latest Antoinette Davis update may cause further debate.

With Antoinette Davis released many are outraged of the fact that Davis can receive rights after contributing to Shaniya Davis' death.  Some see it as "if Antoinette had not handed Shaniya over to McNeill, Shaniya may still be alive today."  This is understandable.  However, if a posted bond is successful in exchange an inmate has the right to leave under special conditions.

$50,000 bond reported by NBC 17, $51,000 bond reported by Wral's NC Wanted, would be the amount(s) in allowing Antoinette Davis her temporary freedom.  Antoinette Davis' family posted bond on Saturday.  In some cases it takes days before the bond process is complete.

When posting bond of this magnitude in a case this intense the authorities usually take precautions to assure no one takes off, including house arrest.  Whether or not Antoinette Davis is on house arrest has not been released.  But it is most likely.
Antoinette Davis is scheduled to return to 2B at the Cumberland Courthouse on April 15, 2010 according to Cumberland County Courthouse records.

If one of my family members had allowed their five year old to be taken from their home with the knowledge that they was going to be sexually assaulted and then murdered, bailing them out of jail would be the last thing I would do for them. They would be lucky if I didn't disown their sorry ***. Like her aunt said, Antoinette has to pay the price. What she did is unforgivable. What this person(whoever bailed her out) did is unacceptable.

I couldn't agree more -- to have such a paltry bail in the first place -- her actions resulted in a death -- her baby's death for goodness sakes!

I truly cannot believe that they did not kill this wench while she was in jail.  Even the lowliest of the low in the prison system detest those who rape babies or make that possible for others.  Just now on JVM  ,the daddy said she should have stayed behind bars because a lot of people want to hurt her.  Here here.  Crying tears of rage and pain for this precious baby.  Some things are just too much to take and they go straight to the heart.
