"She just wants to rest and get herself together," Cromartie said. "It's hard being behind bars."

Pure trash.Period.
Trash is too good of a word for these creatures. Trash can be put to good use for something. But not these evil creatures. They need to be put out of their misery instantly.

"It's hard being behind bars". What about what Shaniya had to endure before her life was taken from her...This is just unbelieveable...

What a bunch of chit. For  a mere 5k, a woman who effectively handed over her child to be raped, who cares whether she had any idea that rape would include the end result, murder, gets to go home, pick up her drug habit and relax. Pathetic trash, justice system? I dunno, justice for who?

Absolutely insane that her release was allowed to happen!  Who the hell cares if she may be on house arrest?  She didn't leave the house when she arranged for Shaniya's fate.  If someone will put their own child through something like that they are capable of doing anything.  I certainly hope there are no children wherever she is staying.

The bail for Davis is $51,000 not $5,000. I live in Fayetteville, NC. That is  what local news has been reporting since the story broke.

Hope, no problems, I do it all the time.
 Confused
The bail should have had lots of zeros behind the numbers.

Hope~  I could have been wrong. I was reading that on the fly and figured the 10% to get her out would have been about 5K,  I'm just now checking back in here, so if I was incorrect, apollys!   Even if it was 50000000000000 , she has no business out in the world IYAM

Father of slain child upset mother released on bond
02/25/10
FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The mother of Shaniya Davis is out of jail after someone helped her make bond.

Shaniya Davis disappeared from her Fayetteville home on November 10, and her body was found days later in a wooded area just south of Sanford.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Mario McNeill killed the 5-year-old girl the same day she was reported missing. He is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree rape and kidnapping.

Shaniya's mother, 25-year-old Antoinette Davis, is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution.

Investigators suspect McNeill was given the child to pay for a drug debt.

Davis had been held at Central State Prison in Raleigh, but a Department of Correction spokesperson said she was released on a $51,000 bond and was transferred back to Cumberland County by deputies Sunday.

Sources say the money for bail was put up by a private bondsman.

Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, says he is angry about her release.

"I'm pretty much speechless," he said. "I'm angry at the way this whole thing has preceded. I am angry that she is out, angry I have to keep reliving this."
Lockhart says he thinks Antoinette Davis should have remained behind bars, where she's been since her arrest last November. He says Davis shares the blame for Shaniya's death.

"At the beginning of all this I said justice and God would be the judge, and I see the justice system has kind of let us down," Lockhart said.

He also vehemently denies rumors he helped pay for Davis' bail.

"That rumor is absolutely not true," he said. "I'm still paying for Shaniya's headstone, just like there was rumors that there was thousands of dollars put out there for Shaniya's case, most of that was footed by me."

Davis' lawyer and the private bondsman who put up her bond aren't saying where the money came from.

ABC11 Eyewitness News tried to contact Antoinette Davis, but relatives say she is in seclusion, and on the advice of her attorney is not talking.

Davis' next court appearance is in early April.

I am glad to see that Brad is taking more of an assertive stand against the monster who helped with Shaniya's death..before he was like milk toast... like when he said something like, God will take care of it, Antoinette wanted to be a mother etc. etc...now he is acting like the father of a murdered child...imo....hope that makes sense what I am trying to say...

I cannot even find the words for how the release of this monster makes me feel.  Shaniya suffered more than any child should ever have to know and AD is the one responsible for this horror.  This is wrong on so many levels!

I have to agree as well!

IMO, she never *should have* been allowed a bond amount, her child died from what she knew about ahead of time and allowed to happen, then seems to have done all she could in obstructing LE afterward.   Only reason I didn't protest too much about the bond when it was set was because I didn't think anyone in her family etc could come up with it anyway.

Would love to know who posted the bond.  And for pete's sake.... WHY??????????

Is she pregnant?  If so, what happens to this next baby when s/he is born?  Surely the courts will not allow her to keep said child, or her family?  The justice system seems to have dropped the ball in so many wrong ways in this situation already, I wouldn't doubt if they didn't allow her or her family to keep the baby, and wish them well.  <horrible thought>

Her next hearing is in April.  Anyone think that she's actually going to make it?  She can allow what she did with her own daughter, she seems like a great candidate for flight-risk.  Hope whoever bonded her out has her under their thumb, watching her every move, at least until the hearing.

Reading that she is "in seclusion" pisses me off as well.  As if........ what?  She needs/deserves to have that??????

Grrrrrrrrrr.

I mean.... what could she possibly say in explanation.. (as to her reasons for knowing about ahead of time and seemingly allowing this to happen to Shaniya).. that the world will go... 'oh ok, we understand it all now, thanks for explaining'.

Nuttin!  She's got nuttin!  Nothing she could say will ever help us to understand why.  Not even if she ends up saying that everything that happened was against her will and he had a gun pointed at her head when he took off with Shaniya.   I'm a mom, there's nothing in the world that could stand between me and my child.  I'd take a bullet before anyone touched my child, they'd have to do it over my dead body.  And I bet most if not all of you would do the same.

She's got no defense.  IMO.

She's free to roam around, do whatever.  Be "in seclusion" if she pleases.

Justice For Shaniya!!!!

Wyks...this egg donor is beyond contempt...she knew that Shaniya was going to be raped...She might not have known that she was going to be murdered, but she knew about the rape...who could do that to any child, let alone your own baby girl who only asked or wanted to be loved by her mama?    I am really surprised that she called LE about Shaniya being missing...Her sister or someone must have asked her where Shaniya was and when she told them that she didn't know, they told her to call the police..otherwise, Shaniya might not have been reported missing until God knows when...by that time, the video of the rapist with Shaniya would have been erased (?) or the rapist would have taken off or raped another child in the meanwhile...
this woman should not be out of jail...she needs to be in general population of the jail and let the chips fall where they may jmo....
This should have never happened... egg donor should have never had this child without supervised visits..
