Koko the gorilla meets a new kitten

Koko the gorilla is looking for a kitten.

Koko has cared for other kittens since her favorite, All Ball, died in 1984, and now it seems she's seeking another pet.

Recently introduced to a litter of five, Koko chose Tigger, an orange and white cutie.

Oh, Klaas, that is so great.  Thank you!  You have been so sweet about the pups, (for a tyrannical ruler)

Yesterday they discovered butt holes.  They had never noticed that they had them before.
Everybody had to sniff everybody else's.  I watched and laughed and laughed.

Now they can run for office!

Strong 6.9 quake jolts Baja California, Mexico

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/04/AR2010040402544.html

Reuters
Sunday, April 4, 2010; 7:07 PM

TIJUANA (Reuters) - A strong 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck in Baja California, Mexico on Sunday, rocking buildings and panicking residents as far away as Tijuana and Los Angeles and Palm Springs, California.

Mexican officials had no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

"I'm shaking like a leaf ... the pool water was just going everywhere," said Jean Nelson in Indio, California outside of Palm Springs.

A Reuters witness in Tijuana said cars in a parking lot outside of a building could be seen jolting with the quake.

The quake was felt in downtown Los Angeles, witnesses said.

The quake struck at 15:40 Pacific time (6:40 p.m. EDT) 16 miles south southwest of Guadalupe Victoria at a depth of 20 miles. The quake was 108 miles east southeast of Tijuana.

Multiple aftershocks were reported.

Earthquake upgraded now to a 7.2

Here in SoCal, where I am we felt it rocking and rolling for a while.  Probably the biggest quake I've felt in a long time but zero damage of any kind.  I imagine there's alot of damage in Baja.

Not sure what it was like for those in the San Diego area (like Shell) but for me it was pretty strong, rolling, and lasted a long time.  Nothing fell or broke but it was one of the strongest earthquakes I've felt in a long time.

Nothing broke in my house but my ceiling fans were moving, and I happened to be in the closet changing to go out to eat, and the hangers were all moving  I didn't realize it at first, I thought someone was pounding on the door of the closet to hurry up to go eat

I'm so glad you're o.k. and there was no damage!

I hope you don't have to get out on the roads/overpasses until they get everything checked out.

TM - it just wasn't that bad here.  I think in the San Diego area they were inspecting the roads and over passes but it just wasn't that bad.  Don't get me wrong, it SHOOK but nothing that would cause damage.  Most everything is built for earthquakes here.

Daughter and I were on the freeway when it happened. We were making an In n Out run...and they were closed!!!grrrr  We had to eat somewhere else and it did not hit the spot plus it cost twice as much (when you get your heart set on In n Out, nothing else will do). Anyhow, sailing down the freeway we felt nothing. Before we got home she got a TM about the earthquake and when we drove into garage hubby told us about the EQ...and said it was scarey. For him to say that, it must have been really strong. I am feeling the aftershocks..they feel pretty cool!

I am mad I missed it...lol
It was way more powerful than the one that hit Haiti...however, our homes/business etc are built to withstand earthquakes..as you said Klaas

Klaas, I immediately thought about you when I heard about the earthquake, i don't know anyone else in the area, & no rose, i didn't realize you are out there too!! Animals always know when something is about to happen like that, I wonder if Petey gave any signals!! Anyways, take care out there!  an angelic monkey

My first quilt.  Appliqued, sewn and quilted by hand.

It was my first time buying fabric quarters.  I don't know what I was thinking - these colors don't match anything!
