Adventures in Sunderland    (Reality TV Show)
Distribution Rights: Magnetic Entertainment
Exec Producer: Magnetic Entertainment

A family oriented Adventure show, based on the Sunderland Family of Thousand Oaks, CA. We follow the family in their day-to-day lives as shipbuilder Laurence Sunderland and mother/teacher Marianne try to balance work and family. Their philosophy on building strong well rounded adults is to mentor their seven home schooled children into setting goals, creating a plan to reach those goals, and implementing them... allowing each of them to pursue their dreams of becoming world class adventurers. The oldest child, Zac Sunderland currently holds the World Record for first person under 18 years-old to Solo-Circumnavigate the World and while finishing up his senior year of schooling is hot onto his next Adventure, a Motorcycle Adventure from the northern most point to the southern most point of South America. Meanwhile his 16 year-old sister, Abby Sunderland, just departed on her quest to complete a non-stop unassisted solo-circumnavigation of the world, trying to reclaim the "youngest" world record for the Sunderland family, but she must do so in a timely manner as 16 year-old Austrailian Jessica Watson has just passed the half-way mark of her attempt at the same world record. Meanwhile the family pursue their daily lives all the while providing the much needed support to their adventuring children.

Abby's Journey (Documentary)
Producer: Magnetic Entertainment

The story at its core this is about one’s Journey into adulthood, learning what it takes to be on your own, set goals and accomplish them. On the heal of seventeen year-old Zac Sunderland breaking the youngest world circumnavigation record in early 2009, we follow sixteen year-old Abby Sunderland, as she pursues her dream to become the youngest person to accomplish the feat. Originally her dream and goal, she has been waiting to fulfill her dream since she was thirteen years old while having to watch her older brother Zac set the record as youngest solo-circumnavigator first.  That record having being broken by Britain’s Perham in 2009, she now plans to reclaim the World Record for the Sunderland family. To do so, she is in a race to beat older Australian Jessica Watson who embarked on her own voyage three months prior to Abby.

Hi NoRose,

I really love the fact Abby went out for her dream, I bet there was no stopping her if her parents allowed her or not.

I found this link (if true) I find Pop a disappointment, gosh.

yes, with the first one I could feel it in my mobile home. Have some type of FEMA steel earthquake thingie underneath, but I ride by the seat of my pants and felt it.

You guys are closer. One responder in North Hollywood rated it as a 3. I rated the feeling as a 2... Klaas do you ever go into the response area?

I worked as a teacher on the set, teaching all grades, enforcing child labor laws and safety for about 25 years. I turned down "Different Stokes" because of the parents. You have to look at the motive of the parents. I have done 18 years of working on 3 different series. It takes effort to work with the combo of children, parents or guardians, production schedule, labor laws, crew, cast egos but basically it reverts back to the parents and the child.

One one of the series the minor lost all her money to because of the studio. I am happy to say that I see her as an adult on a Rosetta Stone commercial. Having already raised two boys by herself, I am happy that she finally has money coming in.

I trained the children I had or at least teased them about learning to read upside down (for papers on an agent's desk et al) and always read the small print and to never sign anything in haste, not matter how badly they wanted the part.

Most of the children I had on the series chose to stay in the industry as adults either as actors or producers. I am very proud of them.

It took a great effort on the parts of the parents, the child, production, crew and teacher on the set.

A 16 year old minor on the high seas is really questionable to me personally so IMO

We only felt the main one and it felt about like the one in Calexico did on Easter.  Yes, I often check to see where it was felt.

I think it's unusual for there to be so many aftershocks.

You know we watch Caltech and I am amazed that I have aged with them! Hope this one isn't one of a cluster than precludes a bigger one.

In CERT class it was mentioned that we may be without water, food for over 8 weeks. Gads. Good thing I like tuna and tomato soup right from the can. I also eat oats right from the container, so guess I will try to survive. Wonder if that is because I have American Indian somewhere in the past.

They said to keep small denominations of cash hidden to bargain with. No credit cards, no electricity.

Also have small boxes of water, so when a neighbor asks you can give them that and keep the larger stash for you and your family.

I know some who have guns just for an earthquake emergency. We do have riots in Los Angeles.

I have a cooking stove. The site http://www.beprepared.com is very good. Need to redo batteries tomorrow, inventory food, tied down big, heavy furniture.

Took a CERT course in protecting your pets. Have carriers for them with a place for water, food, maybe even a small toy. Have food stored in there. Mark the carrier with the name of the dog/cat, address, contact info. You might have to leave your pet for evacuation centers don't take pets usually. CERT, ASAP opps the animal organization are working on getting the rules changed about pets.

If you have to leave your pet, leave info someplace so the searchers can find the pet.

I haven't followed what I have learned. My dog is 14 and blind now. I will carry him if I have to. Have cat carrier though.

Did I tell you that I earned my ham radio license? A desire since about 13. Thing is still in the box, but I can use it when needed.Nationwide or worldwide communications emergency day is coming up. Have Sr. moment when.

In CERT class I was the most organized where they lifted the heavy cement slab up on wood and back down. Nice to learn, but as heavy as that slab was (from the I-10 in the Northridge quake in '94) I think the person under it would be toast. Am doing my ancestry so maybe it is in the genes from log cabin building.

Thanks Klaas for all you do. See you tomorrow!

I think you might be right Klaas.  I went to the USGS site to have a look. From about 4:30 yesterday to 6:30 they had about 50 earthquakes all in the same area around El Cento. From 2 up to the 5.7. I do know that there are hundreds of little Earth Quakes a day out there. But it sure seems that that is a lot to have in the same area in such a short time span. Even for Southern California. The bright side is with all the little ones it may be relieving enough stress off the faults for now.

HH
Pale gums and tounge and or lisslessness (?) are the 2 big things the vets ask on the phone and if either or both they tell you to come in immediately.

How's he now?
Saying prayers for his quick recovery.
He finally got up and moved around today....Thank God ...he drank water by himself and ate just a little bit.........Thanks to all who asked about him.......I hope he is coming around, will update more as the days go by.......poor little guy...

Thanks HH, I have been wondering about the little fella.

OK....Axle, my little puppy is all better...today he ate like a horse and we had to stop him because I didnt want him to get sick from overeating so soon after not eating for 4 days straight, he has lost a lot of weight and he is still a little tired, but the difference in how he is now and how he was a few days ago are like night and day!,  Thank God he pulled through, thanks everyone for asking about him and when things slow down on the bords I will try to post some pics of just how sick he was and how much better he is now!!

That's wonderful!  I am glad you slowed down his eating, he doesn't need to get sick again.  Can't wait to see the pictures!

Hey everyone!!! I've been here in the background constantly reading Natalee's thread since the news broke. I was getting ready to post a cake pic that day when i saw Klaas's post telling someone to go to Natalee's thread! Of course i had to go see what was up!! Smile I tried posting the first few days but always got bumped out, it's much better now but I need to know if I can post cake pics or if it would be better not to.
KLAAS,BEARLY,MUFFY or anyone who knows, please let me know if it's good idea to post the pictures or if I should wait awhile. My hubby has been out cutting grass today but the heat is just about unbearable( I think i must live near Anna Smile ! Mid 90's & "feels like" temps around 105. I keep wanting to weed my flower beds but when I walk outside it's easy to change your mind!! Maybe I'll get to them before dark. Anyways, I'm here on the top vine, as always, Love you all!!!

Can't wait!
