It has been a trying day in Puppyville.  The babies are a week old tonight.
They woke up fussy at 6:00AM and it was one crisis after the other until 10:00.
They move like little turtles on their fat little bellies.  One would get on it's back
and couldn't turn over and would scream.  One got out of the box and onto the rug
and screamed.  One got on top of the other and the one on the bottom would scream.
Then five of them got the hiccups at once and they looked like bouncing balls.

At ten, the mother couldn't take it any longer and she wanted to go outside.....and she
wouldn't come back in.  She looked at me like "you do it".  So she laid in the sun and slept
until 2:30.  I guess she had a little post partem(sp) depression.

Will send more pictures when I recover from babysitting all day.

Maybe she was just trying to keep her milk cold so it would remain fresh!

Klaas, what is Petey up to?  I came for my Petey fix!!

Got a new toy yesterday.  This morning they woke me up at 4am so I'm mad at both of them right now.  Of course, they have gone back to sleep now....

But Mom!  He/she started it!

I feel like a Grandma!  I can see all of his cute antics and love him to pieces...and then send him back home for Mom to do all of the work until the next visit!

Had to get him that new collar.  His old collar had the snap together clasp and it kept coming undone.  So I went to the pet store and was looking at the different collars and picked up the one with the buckle.  So the gal said to me, yeah, the buckle will stay on unless your dog is Houdini.  I said he's a Jack Russell terrier.......and she laughed.  They pull houdini's all the time!

You brought back a cherished memory.

My Grandmom who lived to almost 95 used a wheelchair to sit in for safety, and she had a safety vest on which she was not supposed to be able to get out of.  She lived in the most wonderful nursing facility where they were so kind and had lots of kids volunteer also.  They called her Houdini!  No one could figure out how she got out of her vest.  I always took pride in that, I don't know why, but I did.  Love you, Grandmom and miss you with all of my heart.

Oh Klaas, he is really adorable!

Oh no!  He is thinning out.  He is becoming a young man and lost his puppy look!  He is such a handsome young man, but the Petey the Puppy time was too short!  Where has all the time gone?

I can't find any news regarding the earthquake. That's a strong quake, and I agree, it's going to be really destructive. I hope the impact isn't in a particularly populated area!

USGS reports 8.3-magnitude earthquake hits Chile
15 mins ago

SANTIAGO, Chile – An 8.3-magnitude earthquake struck southern Chile early Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. A tsunami warning was issued.

The quake hit 197 miles (317 kilometers) southwest of the capital, Santiago, and at a depth of 36.9 miles (59.4 kilometers) at 3:34 a.m. (0634 GMT; 1:34 a.m. EST).

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued a warning for Chile and Peru, and a less-urgent tsunami watch for Ecuador.

"An earthquake of this size has the potential to generate a destructive tsunami that can strike coastlines near the epicenter within minutes and more distant coastlines within hours," the center said.

The U.S. west coast tsunami warning center said it did not expect a tsunami along the west of the U.S. or Canada but was continuing to monitor the situation.

Good Morning monkey people.....

I am sure Muffy is going to grab that last post and put it in news or something....

It was hard to get on SM so I took the opportunity when I could open Musings.
Years ago I lived on Maui when a tsunami (not really big as I recall) hit the island.
My apartment was on a cliff ovelooking the Pacific.  The water suddenly pulled back...
like way out from shore....and then a series of waves hit....none high enough to do damage where I lived....but the beach was gone afterward.  You could see the
black volcanic rock.  I have a healthy respect for the power of water.

Hi Mere - I have a healthy respect as well.  We had a tidal wave down here is SoCal from the 1964 Alaska quake and I remember he water rushing out of the bay in Newport and coming back in.  It was something to see even if it wasn't damaging really.

There is a thread in our news area about this quake but I wanted to cross post this warning here as well:

UPDATE: Hawaii Under Tsunami Warning

Last Update: 2:32 am

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning for the State of Hawaii effective 12:46 a.m.

A tsunami warning means that a destructive wave, or waves, may have been generated by an 8.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Chile at 8:34 p.m. HST on Friday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center estimates the first wave arrival time in Hawaii will be at about 11:19 a.m. today, Saturday, February 27, at Hilo.

Outdoor siren systems in each county will sound simultaneously at 6:00 a.m. to alert residents and visitors to evacuate coastal areas.

Residents will be advised by their respective county civil defense or emergency management agencies to evacuate coastal areas.

Residents are urged to follow civil defense instructions.

To determine whether or not you live or work in an evacuation zone, go to www.scd.hawaii.gov and enter your address in the Tsunami Evacuation Zone Mapping Tool, or check the Disaster Preparedness Guide in the front of your telephone directory.

FYI - Hawaii is 2 hours behind Pacific time so right now it's 3:54am in Hawaii
