Oh boy, I just remembered my sister and I one year had gotten phones we thought were the coolest thing. They had a wire connecting them, but it reached all the way upstairs to our bedroom. We played with them for hours. Kinda like using cans on a string. Can you imagine kids today playing with something like that? No way!  Monkey Devil!
No way is right, the toy would probably get thrown in the garbage

I'm so old, I think all we ever got was a new babydoll for Christmas.

No Rose -- I ordered a couple boxes of fudge for my fudgeacholic sister from See's ... can't wait to see how she likes it !

My dad was also a fudgeaholic, we made many a platter for him of that kind you make with Hershey's cocoa, have to whip the daylights out of it so it will harden & also have to make sure it gets on the plate at just the right second or it hardens in the pan.  Or being the good cooks we were, sometimes it was just a platter of thick syrup.   LOL

That sounds like me making the fudge. I just know she will enjoy the fudge, there hasn't been one piece of candy from See's that I didn't like. One Mother's day I was given a box and I sat and ate the whole thing

I bet she will do the same thing & then call me & gripe like it was my fault.

Have you tried the recipe I left for divinity?  If you have a stand mixer and a timer you can not mess it up.

No not yet as I have to get daughtesr mixer out of storage. All I have is a hand mixer. I have tried every recipe and some how have messed them up.  I have brunt up about 4 mixers in the mean time even my stand mixer. I think I have a cuss on me when it comes to divinity. Monkey Devil!

We were pulling at the bowl to get it cleaned out which is a good sign!

I make a sort of Oreo cheesecake bar thingy for school events that is my daughters favourite.  She said yesterday that their school party is on Friday and already committed me to making it.  The kids in her class cheered when she told them what she was bringing for the party so I guess it is really good.

I will post that recipe as well as it is so simple and yummy.

Morning Cookie.  I'd never heard of See's before NRCG mentioned it.  I googled it and found their website & the fudge looked so good.  I'm sitting here thinking now I need to order a couple more boxes .... ummm for my husband.

I am sorry to hear that.  I would not try the recipe I posted without a stand mixer as it will not work out.  I wish I could magically transport you to my house and make it for you.

Oreo Cheesecake Bar Thingy

45 OREO Cookies, divided
1/4 cup  butter melted
3 pkg. (250 g each)  Brick Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup  sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups  thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

line 13x9-inch pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides. Coarsely chop 15 cookies set aside. Finely crush remaining cookies and mix with melted butter. Press onto bottom of prepared pan. Refrigerate while preparing filling.

Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Whisk in Cool Whip and chopped cookies. Spoon over crust.

Refrigerate 4 hours or until set.

*****I make this in a 9x9 pan and a loaf pan so they are taller rather than using the 13x9 pan.  I also put these in the freezer rather than the fridge until they are needed and then take them out and they are so good!

Thank  you that is so sweet of you.  It's one of those things that reminds me of Christmas growing up. My grandmother and aunts made it every year for us. It's become a family joke around here to see if moms going to have a good batch every year. We have eaten it out of the pan with spoons so many time.

I want to share this recipe that I tried for the first time.  It is in the fridge setting up but we licked the bowl to the last bit.

1-1/4 cups Oreo Baking Crumbs
1/4 cup  butter, melted
1 pkg. (250 g) Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup  plus 1 Tbsp.  Smooth Peanut Butter, divided
1 cup cold milk
1 pkg.  (4-serving size) Vanilla Instant Pudding
2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, divided
3 squares  BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Mix crumbs and butter and  press onto bottom and up side of 9-inch pie plate. Beat cream cheese and 1/2 cup peanut butter until well blended. Add milk and dry pudding mix and beat 2 min. Whisk in 1 cup Cool Whip by hand and  spoon into crust. Refrigerate until ready to use.

Microwave remaining Cool Whip and chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1-1/2 to 2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended, stirring after each minute. Cool completely.

Spread chocolate mixture over filling in crust. Microwave remaining peanut butter in small microwaveable bowl 30 sec.; stir. Drizzle over pie. Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm.

Thanks No Rose just what I need.

nrcg I am with you I don't think I have every had a piece of See's candy I didn't like.
It's the best, but this recipe sure sounds great.

It just won't stop raining, we are waiting for a break to take the dog out, and it is just pouring big time. I noticed some of my bark in my yard isn't where it is supposed to be, I guess I should stop looking out the window, and worry about all that later.

I bought some boxes and sent them to my dad, he loves it, and you can't buy it there, maybe in Milwaukee, but I doubt anywhere else.
