Stag : an adult male red deer; also : the male of various other deer (especially genus Cervus)

Buck: adult male deer, usually sporting a rack of horns. The bigger the rack (more points), the bigger the bragging rights.

so, there's really no difference. Although, I suspect there are regional variations. I suspect in England they call a stag what we would call a buck (or I would call some damn fine stew!)
Thanks Tevye, I didn't know the difference. I told my friend about my nephew's deer he got today and I didn't know what it was called. I remember Trimm saying she saw a spike and I didn't know that was a deer. So I guess a 10 point isn't a spike.  I am very confused about deer hunting.
JSM. a 10 point is a VERY BIG DEAL!!! Good for him!

I thought a spike was a baby deer.
A spikehorn is like a teenager. We call them Bambi. We are very mean to our deer, we eat them all winter long!

Nite Monkeys! I'm going to bed so I can go to Mass so I won't feel guilty tomorrow. I allow myself to miss Mass the first Sunday after chemo, but that's the only break I get.

Greeneyes, today was a good day. Spent most of it on the phone, and learned how to nap thru phone calls. It's the returning them all that takes up hours, but it's fun to chat with everyone!

Night monkeys. I have to go to bed now. Sleep well. I gotta get up early, take Josef to daycare, go to Mass and then go skate.

Have a great evening. My sister just called and told me a guy we went to school with passed away and his wife graduated with me in high school. Asthma attack.  Sleep well and have a great evening. If you feel like it pray for them. TIA JSM

How very sad.  Prayers for the family.

JSM  So glad to that you got you some ski pants and Jacket. Son called from Colorado tonight and it was -2.
Oh good lord Greeneyes, I am glad I bought them two sizes so I can wear longjohns, jeans and sweat pants underneath. I don't think I will make it skiing.

He is a born & breed California boy and never been in weather colder than 36. He is freezing.  I know his mom shouldn't laugh but I tried to warn him.

I don't think he would like it up here but the air is clean and fresh.

Max was very special and definitely alpha and lead dog.  He came from parents that were sled dogs in the North West Territories.  We had to have him put down this summer which was the hardest decision to make regardless of it being the correct one.  We always wondered if he had some wolf in him from his markings.

Max in his younger years guarding one of the holes he dug.  He was a digger for many years hiding all his stashes of food for later.

Ohhhhhh, that's so typical! They are "puppies" all their life, aren't they? I was just looking for a pic of my blue eyed one, but don't have one saved on this computer. Do you have more of Max?

They are a special breed.  With his steel blue eyes he scared the carp out of many people and yet he was a gentle giant.  He had such a gentle mouth with the kids and loved water.  We were always worried that a hunter would mistake him for a wolf.

Barney was also an alpha and LOVED to show! When he was 12, we took him to the National Specialty in Concord, NH and he got to do one more round as a veteran. I cried all the way through it, knowing it would be his last. His head was up and he pranced around the ring, despite not being shown for 10 years. He just knew there were other dogs there, and he was putting forth his dominent best. Here we are before his turn. I blotted my face out; his is prettier anyway:

I have a lot but not scanned in as most are prior to my digital camera.  I will have to make it a project to scan them.

I know what you mean! They are just made for kids, aren't they? I'm very serious, NR........... Max is a really beautiful Siberian. Conformationally, his head is perfect! His ears and eyes are too! I'd bet money he had the Karnovanda line in him somewhere, and they were founded on working sled dogs.
