My battery is running low. Guess I should go to bed now. Good night Monkeys

Crying:

No, I don't make these I can't take any credit for them! They just happen to look somewhat like C&G.

My battery is running low also, I'm going to go and lay down and watch Sanford and Son, and if I don't fall asleep I will catch that new show on ABC.

Haha QM! i am sooo clumsy and and its usually at the worst times!!!

It was very sweet, a month after we got together we went and hiked/boulder jumped a crazy waterfall, it was awesome, and was our first adventure. and i love snow (we hiked in summer, no snow)

So sat morning we went for a drive it was yucky slick and snowy in the mts so we went a drove around, nothing unusual.

Then he went the back roads (being blonde, i had no clue ...

OMG, are any of you guys watching the new show on ABC... Find My Family . It is just wonderful. I am sitting here sobbing. It is on now
I never heard of it, I have All in the Family on. I just looked on the guide it is on at 9 here.

NRCG, you have to watch it. It is so heartwarming. They reunite family members who have been lost or seperated for years
Darla I posted a story the other day of a guy that was a victim of Sadaam Hussein's gassing of the Kurds when he was an infant. The guy was taken to Iran, adopted by an Iranian and started looking for his family once he found out where he came from. There were only a few infants that lived and did DNA tests and found his mother. That story made me cry so much it was so sweet. His mom had to speak to him through an interpreter because he only spoke Farsi, but she had found her only child that lived through the massacre.

I read that story JSM. It was amazing. I just love the stories where families are reunited. I helped my cousin look for his bio dad several years back. We finally found him but he had passed away years ago. But Kenny got to meet his aunt and uncle. It was a joy to see . They never knew my cousin existed til that day. But when we approached the uncle, I introduced myself and ask him if we could come in and talk with him. He looked at my cousin and said I know you from somewhere. He was just so overwhelmed when i told him he was his nephew. It is a day i will always remember.

This is the second quilt I made.  You can see that there is no fancy top stitching.  Each square is hand stitched with wool on all four corners and the middle which is then tied in a knot on top.  The last picture you can see the little stitches in the back.  I find this way faster then machine top stitching as I can do it while watching TV.  For the first few quilts I also cheated and used a good quality flat bedsheet as the back (this one is flannel) .  That way I knew what size to make them
an angelic monkey BEAUTIFUL Northern

Thank you JSM.  When I am at my Mom's for Christmas eve I will take a picture of the first quilt I made, as well as the others I made for her.
I would love to see it. One question, do you cut out with scissors or those pizza cutter things?

I watch a show on PBS and it is two ladies that quilt and they make it look so easy and they use these plastic templates with squared off corners and the pizza cutter. I was just wondering if you do the same. I forget the name of the show, but they have quilters on that make amazing quilts. I bet Greeneyes would know the names of those women. They are funny too. Have a good evening JSM

I use a pizza cutter thingy made for fabric on a  self healing cutting board.  I have a larger heavy clear plastic board that I use on top to measure and guide my cuts.  Not sure what you mean by templates.

Wow! This is done by hand? I see what you mean now with the knots. I had one given to me awhile ago, and it had the yarn knots like that. Is that what's it called when done on a machine, top quilting?

I don't think I'd be able to do while watching tv tho. Get too involved with what I'm watching and would sew my fingers together! Nice cheat, btw!  Monkey Devil!
When a quilt is joined together with yarn or heavy thread it is called a tacked quilt. My grandmother was a master quilter and earned her living by quilting and selling eggs from her chickens. I learned to quilt at her knee. When her sight began to fail I threaded her needles and helped her cut out her quilt pieces. She passed her love for quilting to me, none of my 5 sisters had any interest. I try to hand piece and hand quilt 3 quilts a year. My Mom usually made 6. I have a sewing machine and have machine pieced a few tops but I enjoy the hand quilting most of all. Gizzie, if you lived near me I would love to teach you. It is sadly a dying art but there has been an increased interest in the last couple of years.

Hi Monkeys!  Hope everyone is staying warm!

Have any of you had "the crud" this year? I can't talk without coughing and have a fever and generally feel like poop.  How long does this last and can anybody tell me what, if anything, helps?

I'm taking amoxicillin, tylenol flu, running a cool mist vaporizer and drinking fluids. AND I have some perscription cough medicine that doesn't make me feel much better, but it DOES make me not care nearly as much!

As a matter of fact, I'm under the influence right now, so if what I post makes no sense, I claim "impaired" status!

Hi Monkeys--How's everyone this evening?  Got my packages off today.  Feel relieved.

BRANDI I once lived in a neighborhood where every Christmas a woman who lived there and worked in a bank had her house professionally decorated.  It looked something like the picture on the left.  We always wondered how she could afford to do that when the rest of us just did our own, put up a tree and some lights.  Well, one day she was arrested for embezzeling at the bank where she worked.  Handcuffed her and took her off. She was convicted and sentenced to several years and restitution.  I really don't think she had the Christmas spirit at heart.

Oh dear!

I told my husband, who found this picture that the people on the right will be able to afford to eat next month when their utility bill comes in. Maybe not so, for the people on the left. LOL

(Unless they are crooked and work at a bank, huh?)

Thank you for the explanation Blu. As stated I taught myself.  I never would have the patience to hand quilt but I so admire those who do.  They are a work of love.

Hey CBB .... so sorry to hear you're feeling bad!!  Can we call you Booger Girl??   I just got over such as that a few weeks ago, never went to the dr., was scared of their flu germs.

It lasted the better part of a month, mostly the cough wouldn't go away, sounded like I was barking.  I didn't take any prescription stuff, took behind the counter Nyquil at night and drank a lot of water & decaf tea.

The last week, I started running a hot mist vaporizer day & night, kept the central heat off a lot since it hasn't been all that cold here, and kept Vicks on my chest. Either that was coincidental or else it really made a difference since I started feeling noticeably better after the first day of doing that.

Oh and I usually walk around on my cold tile or hardwood floors barefoot.  A friend of mine who's an RN came by to check on me & told me to keep socks on my feet all the time, something about cold feet constrict your sinuses or breathing or something, prolongs your illness ?       I don't know, but I did keep socks on after that just because she told me to, have no idea if it really helped.

Blu or NR or anyone ... have you ever heard of a quilt being made with whole shirts and jeans, instead of cutting them up?

Is the person recommending you wear socks on your tile floor, a beneficiary? Sounds like a slip and slide to me!

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well CBB.  I don't know what this crud is but everyone here has had it.  I concur with BG the cough seems to hang on for ever. It sounds as if you have all your bases covered. Try and get as much rest as you can. I know that's easier said than done most of the time.

Seeking Justice for Caylee

« Reply #1839 on: December 15, 2009, 07:32:59 AM »

Now when I see Digger in the little gift bag, I picture him with a squirrel in his mouth

Don't tempt me, no rose!

There is no reason for the Anthony's to go on the Today Show or any show, well, maybe Jerry Springer, what are they going to say, Casey didn't kill Caylee, and Jeff Ashton was a disgrace with what he said on Friday? I won't waste my time, but will appreciate updates
Good Morning Monkeys I am up early and am fighting getting ready for work - brrrr.  I agree NoRose I refuse to watch and give them any ratings I am hoping there will be a Youtube version we can see.
