I got the kids off the school and decided to zip out to Walmart as tomorrow the kids only have 1/2 day of school then it is Christams break so figured it would be safest to go today. WRONG!!!!

First there is a lady on the highway doing 40.

I have a big arsed trucking coming up behind me at the speed limit and know he can not see that I am following a very small car so have visions of becoming the filling of a car truck sandwich.  I ended up pulling over to the shoulder and driving on it so the nice trucker could see the woman in front of me so he could understand.

The car in front would not budge off of 40 and I just so knew she was going to Walmart as well.  Yuppers!

That should have been my clue to turn around and go home, but not having enough frustration for the day I went in and got hit by no less than 3 carts and the place was packed with doddlers and isle jammers.

Aww, sorry for your rough trip NorRose!  Sounds like something that would happen to me if I was going to Walmart. My kids have school until Weds, of course they are not happy in the least bit about that. It works for me though, I still got lots to do before Christmas!

Walmart is just plain crazy, people are in there like this is the last Christmas on earth. No manners, people in the middle of the aisles talking about nonsense, kids flying everywhere through the toy department, there was a kid one day on a bike, everywhere I went there he was on that darn bike  Sorry Northern about your shopping trip, and yes, next week will be worse

Buds Girl I have been going through my bread recipes and have them ready for you once    brings you that bread maker !

I have a killer pizza dough recipe that you are gonna love!

I talked to Santa last night - he said for me to go after Christmas & buy whatever one I want.  He cooks better and more often than I do, he might end up being the bread maker!

It's horrible here too - but just think what next week will be like!

Not going near the place tomorrow or next week.  I figured it would be paced tomorrow afternoon once kids get out of school but guess everyone was thinking the same as me and wanted to beat that rush.

Tomorrow I have to drive my daughter to school as the teachers are cooking the kids breakfast and she needs to be there before the bus would get her there and than other than getting a few groceries I am not going near any stores.

I went out last night and got the majority of groceries and then some for Christmas dinner and the next two weeks and was shocked at how packed the store was.  Then went to Chapters and the line was at least 20 people as their computers went down so promptly left.  I hate shopping so much as there are so many rude people out that act like they are the only ones within 100 miles.

I'd rather have a root canal - the only items I need are some groceries and I am going to have those delivered on Saturday I refuse to fight the crowds - I am just glad you didn't get run over by the truck and you are home safe now.

Do any of you have children who are scared of having their picture made with Santa?  My granddaughter is 9 (9-1/2 she says), and when we see Santa in the mall, she grabs my hand & steers me the other way.  Last picture we have of her with Santa, she was about 18 mos old.  After that, forget it!

And same with Easter Bunny!

It's a bird, it's a plane ... it's a dog?

Of all the incredulous tales that turn up in the Quad-Cities, none that I know of can match this … A dog falling from the night skies.

And it’s true, too!

Sadie, a petite-sized Pomeranian, landed next to a Davenport street last weekend after surviving a flight of about two miles, clutched in the talons of a great horned owl.

A friend of mine has a daughter the same age as mine and when we would take our kids to see Santa she would get all upset - they say you should show them first you sitting on Santa's lap and talking to Santa then maybe they won't be so afraid.  She tried it with her daughter and it did calm her down somewhat but she was still apprehensive even years later.
