Carnut, believe me, here in Alabama, there are plenty of people who would do exactly what the lady at the Wal-Mart did.

A few years ago, right here on the extreme outskirts of a big city, I lived in a bldg. that had what looked like an abandoned lot next to it, all overgrown. I noticed when the leaves fell in the fall that there was a old house back there, very run-down. One night late I heard female voices coming from back there, 2 women with elderly voices arguing. It really was kind of scary, they sounded like they were ready to fistfight.

The next morning I checked with the landlady and she told me that there were INDEED 2 old women living in that house, which had no running water, electricity, heat, etc. and had a roof that was about to cave in. My landlady said she had seen the interior of the house and it had dirt floors. They had to dig holes. They had used the wood decking floors long since for firewood. The women received food stamps, miraculously, and used them to buy crackers and bread which was what they lived on. I was told to watch for some time when one of them walked by, on her way to the store, and sure enough not long after that I saw one of them, covered from head to toe in old and dilapidated long coats and with a hood over her head, shuffling down the street. Her face was barely visible but she looked very old and emaciated.

The women were both impaired mentally and had lived like that for years, according to my landlady. They were eventually removed when the bldg. they were in finally got condemned and I was told they were carried away kicking and screaming, thinking they were being arrested.

They were more pathetic, if it's possible, than the lady at the Wal-Mart. She could count, evidently.

So yes, it IS possible to see something like that.

Ok, I know, but I'm gonna continue and be the meanie here, I just think it's really suspicious to me that this activity occured on such a busy shopping day before the holidays.

I'm heartless I know.

Cat, I was just reading that on front page of the B'ham News. One of the little girls belongs to my father's work family. I've been putting her on prayer lists all over the place. I can't believe after 2 weeks and counting, she is still in Pediatric ICU  Crying or Very sad

Why didn't the Kalpoes also sue Steve Cohen and Gerald Dompig for slander ? By this time last year, both men had appeared on American TV at different times and stated to the American public that all three boys were guilty. Dompig even stated: "Guilty as hell!" Cohen also re-assured the American TV audiences that during the 2005 Christmas Holidays all three would be brought in again for some serious questioning. (hardy haw haw) ~

Speaking of which...

Have we heard ANYTHING at all about Steve Cohen for the past year? He has seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth.

I know you can make excuses all day long, but I still think it's quite suspicious that the little old lady was down to her last $85 of pennies just to buy Christmas dinner.

I don't know what the heck this woman was doing, but she had to stand there waiting also.

Laughing The little old lady must be pretty strong as $85 worth of pennies takes some heavy lifting. Cool

Does anybody ever watch Rita Cosby anymore? Does she still have a show? Everytime I hear the phrasing, "Guilty as hell," I think of her for some reason. It seemed like she used to take great pleasure in repeating Dompig's words... Laughing  Laughing

BleachedBlack and Carnut:

I had posted this before....

Is Joran at KIA? Is he getting into the pick-up truck?
If the vds vehicles were inpounded early on....
Would they be driving this truck?
Could this be the white pick-up from the Marriott?

I contacted someone in ALE & asked about this truck in Moko.

And to make it even MORE interesting, there is no "milestone" associated w/ the case that happened to coincide with Cohen's departure from the scene. taco-boy went on the down low after the ny judge's ruling, but Cohen just... wasn't THERE.

Oh Cat, that is so sad. I am praying for those children.

Carnut, i never meant to imply your life has been to easy.
Mine has. I have been so fortunate throughout my my lifetime until the past year. Even then I still consider myself lucky. My cancer was curable. I did live through that flu. So God is good and I am grateful.

A few months ago Red asked the same question in a front page post.  Seems to me Red did hear from Cohen back then.  I think Cohen wrote and assured Red he was still around:

Probably been too busy at the casino tables. Or whatever else.

I suspect that character has a LOT of dirty laundry.

And the answer is.....

A US penny weighs 2.5 grams.
$100 equals 10,000 pennies or 25,000 grams.
453.59 grams equal 1 pound.
Therefore $100 in US pennies weigh 55.116 pounds.

Not just joking, I'm pretty sure that Joe T. has pretty much taken over the functon of Steve's job.

Did anyone see Joe T. on FOX today about the Duke case?

Looked to me like he a black eye that was all makeuped over.

Also seemed to be quite uncomfortable in the setting he was in on that show.

Was mr.taco originally an attorney for the girl who made the accusations? I can't remember which side he was on in that thing.

BTW, I think the guys at Duke are as guilty as the guys in Aruba, FWIW. They are getting the spoiled, connected rich kid's pass like Joran is.

The charges today may more accurately reflect the physical and biological attributes of what they did (I'll leave it there  Wink ) but they STILL violated that girl. No doubt in my mind whatsoever.

Guess I figure it was some sort of Holiday season scam setup of somesort.

Going to fast thru line with a lot of stuff and then paying with a lot of pennies, I would think someone was relying on the 'Old Lady' stereotype/Holiday season effect to put something over on the checker if not Tylergal.

Again, I think if I had a bag of pennies to pay for dinner, I would have at least stopped at the courtesy booth to get them exchanged to allow for a faster trip thru the checkout line.

Sb, do you think the girl was paid off to drop the charges? Or threatened? Many people think she was lying because her story changed so many times. I have no opinion either way as to whether they raped her or not. I hope not, actually. But those are very privileged kids who possibly have a grand sense of entitlement given their young age and status in their very prestigious school.
