Thank-you for the updates and maps, are there any other people around that area that might fit the height of the body found?

None that I've heard of.

I caught the tail end of Fox News, an officer of Elko, NV stated the body is "believed to be that of an hispanic male".

Apparently there are communication issues between the recovery site and the police HQ.

The Fox 13 site keeps locking me up, but from what I could see they hadn't opened the bag yet ...as of 9 minutes ago.

Jen, thank you for your descriptions and information on the area surrounding Susan's home and the likely "camping" areas visited by that loser.

Although I often joke about the next stop south of where I live being Antarctica, we really have no concept here of being ice or snowbound.  We do get snow on our highland mountains and some ice in sheltered areas but nothing as extreme as the northern hemisphere.  I appreciate your contributions.

I don't know anything about Utah/Nevada, could someone tell me where this body was found, was it cold and snowy? I have only been to SLC in Utah and Reno and Las Vegas in Nevada. I pray that it was cold and whomever they found they will be able to find a cause of death due to it being so cold. TIA JSM  an angelic monkey

Good point.  Yes it's been very cold in that area.

Body found west of Wendover is Hispanic male
January 7th, 2010 @ 5:43pm
ELKO COUNTY, Nev. -- The Elko County Sheriff's Office is investigating the site where a body was found Thursday in the Nevada desert. The the body is that of a Hispanic male.

The body was found around noon in the Pilot Valley area on the Utah-Nevada border. That's about 12 miles west of West Wendover.

"We received a report that someone had a body wrapped in plastic in the Pilot Valley area," said Elko County Undersheriff Doug Gailey.

On Friday evening, Gailey confirmed that the body inside the plastic bag is a male.

Gailey also said the area is remote and there are no missing persons in Elko County.

YW Tib.  And good to see you!

I know it can be difficult to fathom that such a vast area can have completely frozen ground - thus limiting the possibilities of a buried disposal site this time of year.

that's why I was focusing on the West desert areas....

I found a site earlier today that states Utah Lake was completely frozen over as of Dec 18th (and temps were warming by that time after the very cold spell in the timeframe Susan went missing) - I'll get that again in the morning and post here (sorry Blink).  Thus removing a water disposal as well.

Channel 2 News at 6 pm

Under Sheriff Doug Gailey :  "The body appears to be that of an hispanic male, and therefore not that of Susan Powell."

My heart and thoughts go out to this poor man's family.

Apologies to all for the false alarm regarding Susan....

If there was ANY snow there at all, I would be surprised.  The area i was focused on is approx 30 miles back to the East toward Salt Lake, and had gotten a total of .16" of precipitation for the entire month of December.

So out where this body is, there should be no snow, and the ground should not be frozen (or at least, not frozen very hard).
Thanks Jen, I don't know that part of the US, so I didn't know if the body could have been covered by snow or not. Thanks again for answering my question.
