Thanks Northern Rose, I'm going to ask my husband if he remembers that place, and see what he says. It doesn't look familiar to me at all. But that food looks great, that cheese steak looked awesome.

Diners, drive-ins and dives did an episode in Albuquerque.  I looked it up and it was at the Monte Carlo Liquor and Steakhouse.  You had to walk through the liquor store to get to the restaurant.  They are supposed to have a good green chili cheesburger and I am sure the liquor store has some ML.  3916 Central Ave SW Albuquerque.
There will be plenty of booze to get in Albuquerque and a lot of good eating. It was established in 1970 how the heck we never ate there I have no idea, never even heard of the place

When I was a senior in high school and living in VA, I wanted to go to college either in Albuquerque or Hawaii. LOL (My rebellious nature, wanted to get far away from home.) I ended up at The College of William and Mary, about 45 minutes away from my home. LOL

But I had found thoughts of a different lifestyle out in NM.
You definitely made the right decisions  I spent a summer in Alexandria, one of our neighbors had a daughter that would visit with her three kids every summer. We were great friends, and it was so exciting for me to go there, they took me on wonderful site seeing adventures, a vacation I will never forget. They had this beautiful brick home and a maid, when I got back I asked my mother how come we didn't have a maid, she told me she was

It does seem forever to go through Texas, and I was always afraid to get to Oklahoma, worrying about what kind of weather we were going to meet. Albuquerque always seemed to be doing some road work in and around. We lived there a year, I was sick with asthma and allergies almost the entire time. The last visit to the ICU where I spent three days, and the doctor told me I really need to get out of this area. I was so glad I just hated living there. But, Santa Fe, is beautiful and I wouldn't mind living there. And Taos is great also.

Santa Fe is beautiful but Taos is my favorite. I think it's because of the art community there.
It is just gorgeous there. Besides the fact of health issues living in Albuquerque, I also felt so claustrophobic living there as well, I always was ready for a rode trip. My husband enjoyed living there, and when my parents came to visit they enjoyed it also.

Hubs family moved there in 1959. It has gotten so big and like so many places built every thing on top of each other. I always enjoyed our visits but couldn't live there. Been to the ER there a couple times. I would think it was the dust from the sand storms that made you sick. They can be awful.
Sand storms, and when you would look out your window and see tumble weeds rolling by that would freak me out, I had never seen that before.

I remember eating my share of lotaburgers though  Couldn't pass one of those burgers up.

There sure a lot of them here for sure. I miss my In N Out burgers.
My husband and daughter just love In N Out burgers, I eat them, but I just don't understand why people get crazy about those burgers  Don't get me wrong I never turn one down, but I'm not overly crazy about them. I love me a Bloomin Onion Burger from Outback  My oldest daughter use to work at an In N Out in high school, and her clothes would just reek of grease when I laundered them, maybe that is why

I know what you mean about the work clothes. But my niece and nephews would reek of onions. Hubs doesn't care for them either. My nephew now works has a trouble shooter for them after years of running stores for them. He had his wife won free trips with everything paid for, all over the world.

Thanks Brandi.  I was thinking of you when I was cutting my Nanaimo bars last night.  2 dozen butter tarts also vanished.  They are addictive.

Husband has mentioned them every single day since you posted the recipe.

I have to remind him every single day that I am making them for New Year's Eve. LOL

He is so anxious to have them!

Thanks again for the recipe!

The only thing I do (if anything) is make some ice cream today.

Do you know if JSM is driving along Route 66?  DDD did a whole episode on Route 66 and some of the food in the places looked amazingly insane.

Once again not sure. But thought they were taking interstate 40 to Albuquerque but from there not sure. They can take higway 25 up to Colorado then take moutain road from the east side into Pagosa Springs. But with the roads they way they are they might go to Farmington NM on the west side of the state and go to Pagosa Springs from the west side. Which is a much shorter mountain drive.
