Brandi and All - I had been across the Border countless times - and Yet I kept being flagged.
Not every time was I alone. Some times it was my Canadian fiance driving his vehicle and we were pulled over and " Taken" .......  Him going into the states.  I mean come on - being tagged flagged several times in a 12 month time- Never anything to be found. There was nothing to find. We are not Terrorists - We were guilty of having a relationship between the border that is all.
Neither he nor I even have parking tickets.. It got to the point we felt we were being harassed. Some of the Border agents were cool. They actually remembered my Name etc. Why? it wasn't hard to remember me - I was driving a Sebring convertible that had front ball bearings shot ..that the NOISE was as if I had a Cherry bomb Muffler .. I wanted to be " Unknown" .. I was being sneaky right.. get out of town. I am no longer crossing the Border due to the fiance and I are no longer, I have never gotten a passport - which is now law. And thankfully - I am not driving a car that was a piece of crap. I sold it.

Being that the border bet Windsor and Detroit is less than 3 miles - just a bridge and we Depend on each other - for so many things - I would think that they would adjust to a person that travels all the time .. vs a person who is " Once" or hardly ever -who looks or appears to be questionable... I don't know. its disturbing.

Makes no sense Deenie you being known by the guards, not trying to sneak in or anything. I could see if you were in a rental car or something. I'm sorry that happened to you, you are such a beautiful monkey.

Just goes to show you Why the " Health Care Reform Bill " was voted upon on Christmas EVE .. just like the Federal Reserve on Christmas Eve .. 1913. Was Passed and Created.
The Federal Reserve " conception" was not the Majority's Wish - They told all those who were against the FR on Christmas Eve to leave and go home to their Families.  Then they made a Congressional Act that the FED Reserve was Passed - due to all that stayed were For the Federal Reserve. They Voted. It is now Today as it is.

 Do you know that Congress has only Met ONE time since the Fed Rev was created on Christmas Eve - which was 1963 I believe .. Yet they chose " Congress" Chose Christmas Eve yet again to Pass the Health Care Reform.. Hmmph.

Was it because it was a repeat of History - that Not all Voted. That only those who were Yay's voted..that the Ney's were out of town with family. We as the People will never know the truth. They " those who hold our futures" will never tell us the truth. They only do what is for their very own PERSONAL interest and gaines .. because they have bank accounts overflowing with $$$$$$ .. they simply do not care.

We are all F'd ... period.  That is not funny. The reality is coming .. we will be the last to know.  Sorry but I had to rant .. It was bugging me about the Vote on Christmas Eve.  and that fool prob was Tanked off his Arse  - because He knows he just passed the Health Care Reform that is going to Ruin what is left of the Freedom Act - and Individuals Rights ....  Next time we see him on the news ..he may be " a new's story" that he is no longer with us. These people as MB are held accountable/responsible as Spokesman- for the final word.  May not Be MB's Final word " it is Voted and he has to Cast the Votes as they Are"  He is the Voice that is representative of all Finance .. Money. Its always the Bottom line.

Deenie, I had no idea about the Christmas Eve of 1963.  We are so screwed. I guess this is the last time I get to go skiing because I have my own healthcare insurance. If I break my leg come universal healthcare, I will end up with a peg leg because it will take years to get my leg fixed. I pray every night that these crooks that voted for this healthcare crap are bounced out the next election.

Christmas Eve eve, I watched Ronald Reagan's first Christmas address to the nation, he talked first about religion, then about the people of Poland that were standing up to Soviet oppression. I really pray that we get someone like him that loves our country, wants to protect us and not bow down to our oppressors.

Thanks Tevye.  That is with my cell phone, my camera is still in the suitcase. I so wanted to take a picture inside the church I went to this morning. It is the old church in town, with stained glass, all the old school stuff at the altar. Only thing that was missing were altar rails or you would have sworn I had gone back pre Vatican II days. I didn't think they would appreciate me taking pics with my cell phone while we were praying the rosary. 

 Hopefully I will take pics tomorrow. My parents have an extra camera as mine is ancient.

Well I would just have to wait another hour. I can't go with someone standing at the door.

Long story about not going to the bathroom on the plane, but I gotta run to go to dinner. I will tell it someday soon.

It can be anything. When DH and I flew to Alaska, he was double searched..all because he didn't take his belt off (I told him to). I just laughed. I traveled that time and the next to Alaska in a skirt with flip flops. My purse was about 5 inches square, enough to hold drivers license and tickets and smokes and matches (this was before we were allowed lighters...which will probably get banned again). Oh, and I wore a t-shirt with a jacket over it. By the time we got to Fairbanks, I was an excellent stripper! DH said I shoulda had my own pole, I was very fast in the undressing department.

Now, Alaska kids are saying they'll be home for good this summer. Son thinks it'd be great if I flew up there and drove home with him and the dog, letting DIL and grandson fly home. Seems she's had enough trips over the AlCan. I'm all for it, and am looking into how to solve that whole deportation problem with Canada. I might have to ask Northern Rose to sponsor me for the 2.5 days it takes to drive thru Canada. I'm gonna put it to DH as "this is my reward for being a good cancer patient". Think that'll work?

Oh, and if I do fly to Anchorage, I always go thru Chicago or Minneapolis. I avoid Detroit Metro like the plague!! I'd rather drive 5 hours to chi-town...

Hi Monks--Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

The last time I returned from England a couple of years ago I just went through the "Nothing to declare" gate in Atlanta and showed my passport.  The customs agent wanted to know if I knew Dolly Parton since I live in Pigeon Forge, so I told him I do.  I actually don't but he was impressed.

When I flew from Knoxville to Augusta for Thanksgiving, I had to change in Charlotte to a PROPELLER plane.  That sucker was whirling around right outside my window.  I had never flown on a prop plane before, but there was no difference, just took longer.  I didn't even know they used prop planes any more.  Coming back was a small jet to Charlotte and a regular jet to Knoxville.  My sister-in-law was with me and has some trouble walking, so I got her a wheelchair and a guy to push it.  In security, they really searched her.  Even looked at the bottom of her feet.  She's 75 years old and can hardly walk.  Yeah, sure, she looks like a terrorist.

Brandi, WTH, I just don't get this kind of treatment. The only thing I can come up with is they go after the people that won't cause trouble and won't be a threat, and leave the scary looking people alone.  And people they should be looking at they are not.

That's a good point. They maybe have to "search" every 30th car or something, and choose those who they think will make it easy. Never thought of that!

Keep in mind, also, that these crossings happened before 911.

Pre-911, the Candians liked to search vans with young people in them on holiday weekends. They figured we were bringing in drugs...then they'd take most of our money, but leave us enough to buy plenty of their cheap booze and smokes!! (But again, I cannot say how hawt the RCMPs are!!)

That's great that your son and family will be back for good  I've never been to the Detroit airport, Chicago several times, Minneapolis once. I remember going to Detroit with my family many summers, but I haven't been in that area since I was a kid.

Hot springs stink like rotten eggs, but they are so worth it! We went to one in Alaska which is used (geothermically) to power the whole resort. It was very very awesome! And yes, of course it was like 20 degrees and snowing, it was the best!!

I'm afraid of things like that, and hot tubs, heck I rarely take a bath only shower. Not because I'm afraid of water, but I got a urinary tract infection from he!! a few years back, that lasted for months and months, no matter what antibiotic I was put on it didn't get rid of it, I really thought I was going to have it forever

I have no reason to cross the Border any longer.  Some day I will have to get a Passport I guess to drive to Ohio...... from Michigan.  I have never heard of a enhanced Drivers license = what is that?
