Yes, rest up for the big night with your grandkids  I would give you one of my day planners, my husband brought me several home from work, but since everyday is the same for me I have no use.

Thank you for your comment.
JSM will be following a very busy schedule today,and we ask that no photos be taken of the family while they enjoy some much needed down time.
We will be in contact as needed during the day to alert JSM to any breaking news which may require her personal attention.Later this afternoon she will take time to answer questions and make comments on the days events.
Carry on monkeys and feel free to indulge in the beverage of your choice.NorthernRose will join us later this morning and provide brunch.        

Brunch will be served shortly.  It consists of:
Butternut Squash soup with apple curried oil,

Roasted choriso with a parsnip puree, whole mustard seed and maple vinaigrette topped with scallops,

a roasted loin of venison with chestnuts, carrot puree and a potatoe terrine,

Creme brulee with crispy hazelnut, and citrus marmalade.

Wine samplings of:

Champagne Montaudon,   
Catena Chardonnay,   
Allegrini ‘Palazzo della Torre’

Good morning everyone. Northern I hope your son feels better this morning and not so miserable from his dental work. I love summer sausage, and to make your own, that is cool.

He seems to be feeling better today.  I am doing Fondue for dinner, two of them, beef broth and cheese.  Should make him happy.  Other son is having a very hard day today.  Four of our soldiers were killed yesterday in Afghanistan.  He has a very good friend that is in the same area right now and the news today has hit him hard that it could have been his friend. 

If you are adventurous I can post you the recipe.  It is actually very simple and does not require casings.  You must however get the correct salt cure if you want to try.  No if ands or buts as this is critical so the meat stays safe.  Up here it is in all the grocery stores, but not sure if it is that readily available everywhere.

Happy New Year Gizzie     Northern Rose I'm very sorry for your son about the four soldiers that were killed in Afganistan, dirty shame, and eight CIA members in a separate attack  All of this makes me ill.  Summer sausage is a huge favorite in WI, we would always buy it fresh at the butcher store. There are different brands in all the grocery stores. Not a party goes on that I can remember where sliced summer sausage wasn't on a party platter. Fondue sounds wonderful, my mom use to do that also, cheese, and oil, where you can dip bread into it. Wonderful
