Never had a real Christmas tree. I do have quiet a few real live trees throughout my yard (they came with the house when we bought it). Anyway, I did take pine cones that fell on the ground from a couple of them. It's a good thing I read up on it first and baked them in the oven for a couple of hours. Before I did that though, I had put them in a zip lock bag, and sure enough I could see little tiny (almost hard to see) bugs crawling around in the bag. Yuck!
Well now I'm afraid to go look at the pine cones I have decorated in little snowman boxes in my house.
If you bought them don't worry about it, I'm positive those would already have been treated. If you picked them off the ground yourself, you may want to bake them for a couple of hours, at about 250. It makes the house smell nice too!

That's a great tip, QM! I love the smell of pine.

Hi, btw!

Hi Brandi! I put them on a foil lined baking pan. I think I kept them in the oven for close to 4hrs though, cause they were closed when I put them in. As they bake, they open up to more like what you usually see. The house smelled like Christmas, even without the tree.

Hey guys I am back. The cut wasn't as bad as she thought it was, so I had my handy first aid kit and fixed her up.  It wasn't very deep, more or less a slice, so just cleaned it up and put some neosporine on it and some butterfly bandages. Saved a 20 mile trip and a $100.00 dr. bill.

Oh gosh I would hate to find a nest of spiders in a tree. I would have thrown it out the door. lol

Those jokes are funny  I needed that. My husband got the right things  but then couldn't figure out why the car doors and trunk didn't open, so after a couple minutes he realized it was the wrong black car  I'm going to need a drink before this day is over.  Glad everything went well with your mom Darla  an angelic monkey

too funny!
reminds me of the time that my MIL who is 88 yrs old now went out of a store to wait for me and she crawled into the wrong vehicle and was waiting for me to come out! I couldn't find her and couldn't find her and finally I saw her white hair..she was sitting in a black car...I had a yellow SUV at the time!  Can you imagine if the owners of that car came out and here is this old lady sitting in their car....We had a good laugh over that one!

This is what I've been working on for the past 2 days. It's a dolly highchair from the 50's. It had a horrid brown/orange pad stuff on it. So, I refinished it (with the special stuff, and beeswax and orange oil polish) and made new covers and paddings for it. Now I'm thinking that my little Livvie will need to leave it at Mimi's house cos it's too cute to send home with her!

Tevye, I love the highchair. You can't buy anything like that now days. I couldn't wait til I got a grand daughter , I now have two and they are tomboys. Neither play with dolls. But there is so much new technologies that kids just do not play house ( as we use to call it ) anymore. The nine yr old will pitch a hissy fit if you ask her to wear a dress. The seven yr old will wear a dress but you have to watch her like a hawk or she will be down on the ground with the dress over her head wrestling with her brother. Good morning monkeys.... took me a bit to catch up on all I missed while out yesterday.  More shopping and wrapping.  Today, more elfwork as well.  Time to clean this place up before the festivities.  I will have a houseful this weekend.  Would much rather stay in here to read and chat.

I love your avi.

The Christmas sweetyl made for me by Brandi... the monkey... just found it online... isn't he a hoot?

Yeah.  and every time I see it, I laugh.   Your name is perfect - bananas.          Very cute.

I almost animated the mouth of her monkey to open and close. But I couldn't decide what it should be saying. LOL!

Brandi, that would probably be very funny!

Thanks to ya'll for your compliments. These are the Christmas gifts I enjoy the most, the ones I have to put a little work into. In our family, "used" is way better than brand new (except for microscopes and techy stuff). And I'd always rather sew for someone else than myself...although I was pleasantly surprised that for a change, everything I needed for this project was found on the first search!!!! Help, I'm turning into my mother!!
