Good Afternoon, I survived the eye appt and Walmart. Glad to be back in my quiet house.


Northern Rose, could you use one of the bungie cord things to fix the tree stand?

I thought of that but think because a bungee cord has some elastic it may not be easy to keep it stable and or shoot the cord across the room as the other cords are tightened. 

When I was a kid, my dad would hammer two boards together in an x shape then nail it to the tree trunk. I have even tied an old artificial tree to the curtain rod to keep the tree straight. lol

My dad used to do that, too.    We were kinda poor and there were six of us kids.   One year, he went into the woods and chopped down the ugliest tree ever.    It looked ok once it had lights and a few presents were put under it.   


A few years back, we got a tree from a roadside stand and it had a spider nest inside that we didn't know about.   After about 3 days, the baby spiders were all over my living room.               There were so many, we just couldn't kill them without spraying the tree.  So our wonderful evergreen Christmas tree smelled like bug spray all thru the holidays.     
The following year, we bought an artificial tree.     

That would have given me heart failure, I don't do well with spiders or snakes.

Hummmm, drinks sound good about now. Lol It is 5 o'clock somewhere!  I think I need about a gt of bourbon right about now.

    I can't stay off the computer either, my husband is still stirring the cake batter, and now he says should I fill the cupcake cups, sure 

I have a hard time staying off at times too - I have to force myself and it is a battle

I love the Olive Garden also, but it is 55 miles away. Wish they would build one closer. I have to drive 20 miles to the nearest Walmarts.



tGo to run Mom just called and has cut her hand pretty bad. Another 20 mile trip to the Drs.

Oh goodness I hope she will be ok - drive safe Darla.

Tevye, your high chair is beautiful. I have a bedroom set that is about the same color of wood, but it is from the 30's.

Brandi, I am glad your son gets to go on his trip and thanks for making Josef his New Years avatar. Hopefully I will be home by then and I can spend New Years Eve with my monkeys and Josef.

Scarey, have a safe trip.

Mission, get to the liqour store asap before the weather gets too bad, bring me some back too so I can hide it in my suitcase.

If I missed anyone, I'm sorry it is because my phone rang before I could post to everyone and oh yeah to Puzzler, that recipe sounds very good. I like veggies.

Hey guys I am back. The cut wasn't as bad as she thought it was, so I had my handy first aid kit and fixed her up.  It wasn't very deep, more or less a slice, so just cleaned it up and put some neosporine on it and some butterfly bandages. Saved a 20 mile trip and a $100.00 dr. bill.


Oh gosh I would hate to find a nest of spiders in a tree. I would have thrown it out the door. lol

I love puppy chow, my ex mil used to make it and these candies called buckeyes. Anything sweet with peanut butter and chocolate I will eat. My bedroom set came from Sears and Roebuck, it has it stamped on the headboard and the back of the vanity mirror. It came from an old woman that lived down the road from my grandmother, it was her daughter's and when the old lady went to a nursing home, she gave it to my grandmother because she would drive the old lady to church every Sunday. Poor old lady, I hope my grandmother didn't scare the crap out of her with her driving like she did me.

OMG Tevye, that is just gorgeous. You did a great job. She will absolutely love it.

  That is wonderful, all her dolls will love sitting in the high chair.

Thanks to ya'll for your compliments. These are the Christmas gifts I enjoy the most, the ones I have to put a little work into. In our family, "used" is way better than brand new (except for microscopes and techy stuff). And I'd always rather sew for someone else than myself...although I was pleasantly surprised that for a change, everything I needed for this project was found on the first search!!!! Help, I'm turning into my mother!!

Tevye the highchair is absolutely adorable - I want it and the Raggedy Ann and Andy.  Can I come over to your house and play?

Yes no rose... I have had all the FUN I can stand today too.  Just cleaned up the supper mess and I am now collapsing on the couch. Going to see what NG is about tonight... if it is Tiger again.... BLEH.... I will turn it off.  Have a feeling I will hit the hay early tonight.  Tomorrow is another day and I still have more cleaning to do!
