I was looking to see if there was a MP thread for that girl sailor missing in the Netherlands. Laura Dekker I think her name is, I just saw it on Fox News. Anyways if there is a thread, please let me know. TIA JSM

THE HAGUE, Netherlands —  A teenage Dutch sailor who made headlines when she went to court to fight for the right to sail solo around the world has gone missing, police said Sunday.

Laura Dekker's boat, Guppy, is still moored at its usual berth and the 14-year-old appears to have left her father's home on her own, Utrecht police spokesman Bernhard Jens told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

"We do not believe this is a crime," Jens said.

Utrecht District Court refused in October to let Dekker embark on her attempt to become the youngest person to sail alone around the world, and placed her under the supervision of child care authorities.

Jens said Dutch authorities have alerted neighboring countries to monitor airports.

"That happens with missing minors — if she is seen somewhere else or tries to leave via an airport or something like that, authorities know we are looking for her," he said.

Dekker has joint Dutch and New Zealand citizenship because she was born on a yacht in New Zealand waters. She said earlier this year she might try to go there if Dutch authorities refused to let her sail.

Jens would not comment on a report in Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant that Dekker withdrew $5,000 from her bank account a few days ago.

I have to make sloppy joes for potluck tomorrow at work I am going to leisurely go about my have to's such as laundry because like I said earlier I am off for 12 days starting Tuesday afternoon - I am soooooo excited.  I am going to try the Christian Bros and egg nog I love egg nog and at one time brandy was my favorite cocktail.

Woke up late, stayed up too late. I decided to go to 12 o'clock Mass instead of 11, then my brother is coming to pick me up at 1:30 to go to my Dad's house. I should be home by 1:30 because this church's masses are quick!

Darla - the pic of Ginger .. She's sooooooooo adorable!  Neiko is a black n tan doxie too, and looked a lot like that when a baby.   He was 'supposed' to be a mini, his mama is 7 lbs, papa is 9 lbs, but Neiko kept growing and growing and...    Turns out he is a throwback to a standard-size grandparent.   Vet says that happens with minis sometimes.  He last weighed in at a hefty 35 lbs and still on a doggie diet.   His poor mama would not recognize him!  lol 

Hope you take lots of pics of Ginger!!  How fun for your grandkids for Christmas!  It's fun to watch pups grow and look back at the baby pics years later.  Just like with kids, you can still see their little baby face expressions at times, even in the adult body.  Hope you get a doxie of your own someday!  I've had doxies all my life, they are IMO the best!  (well ok I am kinda partial to my furry grandkid, a pure white Husky.  Am teaching him to say 'I love you', and so far all it sounds like is 'shut up'... lol)   

One thing some may not know is that long-haired doxies seem to be more mellow than smooth-haired and wire-haired.  Smooths seem to be the most opinionated, sassy and stubborn LOL  <gotta love em!>  with wires somewhere in the middle.  Choose accordingly when you get ready to get one of your own. 

Folks look at Neiko and say.. 'what kind of dog is that?????????'  And I'm like ... huh???  A weiner dog!  They are so used to seeing the little cute minis they forget what a standard size looks like!  LOL  Still 2 ft long and 1/2 dog tall.

Just looked through the ads in the Sunday paper, I should have known better, now a trip to Old Navy is in store, another store that drives me crazy, but they have some nice sales

I saw the prettiest wired haired doxie at Petsmart up for adoption yesterday. She is being treated for heartworms and didn't feel good. I just wanted to take her home, but Josef wouldn't tolerate it.

Growing up we had a standard doxie, named Gretchen, she was mellow. Heidi was a black and brown miniature doxie, she wasn't so mellow, very smart dogs. But neither of ours were good with children, me yes, but no other kids.

You betcha! I park in the getaway position. First space closest to the exit and backed into the space. I don't dawdle, get in, get out and getaway.

I have both van seats in my family room and he comes home and says no tree as there was no room in the van.   

Please please please put your van seats back in the van!  One thing the manufacturers will never tell van owners <ahead of time> is IF they take the van seats out of the back, and IF they get rear-ended, that van will go airborne and the driver seat will flip backwards flat on the floor behind.  This happened to my mid-son, that's when we found out.  Manufacturer just went    "sorry, thought you knew".

  Oh that isn't good, don't have a van, but wow. I wouldn't even know how to take a seat out of a car.
