Found this and thought only in Texas. Explains why JSM drive yesterday was so bad. Once they get to Amarillo they should have better road conditions.
Well duh ! and darn cat here is the story.
In Texas, volunteer firefighters and sheriff's deputies rescued hundreds of people stranded along Interstate 44 and Texas State Highway 287 near Wichita Falls. The area recorded up to 13 inches of snow, said Doug Speheger, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
"It's really been horrible," Wichita County Sheriff David Duke said. "Although we live in north Texas and get a lot of cold weather, we weren't prepared for the significant amount of snow that we've received."
Only two of the sheriff department's vehicles have four-wheel drive, so rescuers used their own pickups and the heavy 5-ton brush trucks normally used to fight fires to get to motorists, many of whom ran out of gas while they were stuck in traffic stalled by the storm.
"It was exciting at first to wake up and go, 'Oh, this will be great. We'll have a white Christmas,'" Wichita Falls Mayor Lanham Lyne said. "Then it kept snowing. As the roads became impassable, then we started to worry."

Sorry about that.
Wow, crazy weather everywhere it seems.

Morning Tevye
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for the prayer for JSM. Am not sure which way they are going once the get to Albuquerque but I kooked and it will be cold the roads are all open with no snow coming for a day or two. I pray they make better time today.
Day two of JSM's great adventure. I have only ever been to Plano, TX. It says estimated drive time is 5 hours 5 mins. Albuquerque tomorrow?

I have driven through Texas several times, and I thought I would never get out of the state, and every time we would get to Oklahoma, some weird weather we would always run into. I hope Albuquerque doesn't have snow, because the whole town comes to a stand still, and nobody can figure out how to drive. Texas is a really big state when you are driving through it, I didn't want anyone to think I couldn't wait to get out of there, that is not what I meant.

Diners, drive-ins and dives did an episode in Albuquerque. I looked it up and it was at the Monte Carlo Liquor and Steakhouse. You had to walk through the liquor store to get to the restaurant. They are supposed to have a good green chili cheesburger and I am sure the liquor store has some ML. 3916 Central Ave SW Albuquerque.

There will be plenty of booze to get in Albuquerque and a lot of good eating. It was established in 1970 how the heck we never ate there I have no idea, never even heard of the place

nrcg Texas takes forever to get threw. If you drive 10 across it's something like 896 miles across. It does seem like it takes forever to get threw. Albuquerque is suppose to be clear. They are always working on the highways too. Which doesn't help

It does seem forever to go through Texas, and I was always afraid to get to Oklahoma, worrying about what kind of weather we were going to meet. Albuquerque always seemed to be doing some road work in and around. We lived there a year, I was sick with asthma and allergies almost the entire time. The last visit to the ICU where I spent three days, and the doctor told me I really need to get out of this area. I was so glad I just hated living there. But, Santa Fe, is beautiful and I wouldn't mind living there. And Taos is great also.

I'm shocked
How we missed this place, is beyond me. Ate at a lot of nice places with great food. I don't remember the drive thru liquor stores, maybe that came after we left there.

Happy Boxing Day!!
Happy Boxing Day
We really should celebrate Boxing Day here in the US. I'd love to take this huge chocolate cheesecake next door and trade it for some turkey sammiches.
And all this time, I thought Muffy was from the US. Learn something every day, I suppose.
Husband being Canadian, never really cared for Boxing Day, but he always reminds me when it is Boxing Day. LOL I told him I'd box up our dinner leftovers and present them to him.
Hope you all are having a great Saturday. We have had lots of rain, and the snow is losing its grip on our ground, and the birds can finally find their own food to supplement the bags of food they have been going through at our feeder! We bought ourselves another bird feeder for Christmas, too!

It is just gorgeous there. Besides the fact of health issues living in Albuquerque, I also felt so claustrophobic living there as well, I always was ready for a rode trip. My husband enjoyed living there, and when my parents came to visit they enjoyed it also.

Morning Green Eyes.
I also hope the roads are better and they make better time. I can't wait to hear about JSM pond skating! Well, I know the skiing stories will be funnier, but I'm really waiting for the rink-girl to go all pond-scummy on us!
NCIS marathon on all day on USA, new Dr. Who tonight...it's a pajamas day for me!
I can't wait for the stories either
I sure hope they make better time also
Yesterday was a Criminal Minds marathon
I only turned on the TV after our kids left. We had a great time with them, my granddaughter loved her highchair! She eventually took the dolly out and sat herself in it! It was so cute! And my grandson loved....not the microscope, not the solar system model, not the Lego Indiana Jones Crystal Skull palace...but the Harry Potter book and movie (#3) and the Hogwart's Griffendorf (?) scarf I'm knitting him! He's only 5, so he can't read, but he borrows my Harry Potter books all the time and takes them everywhere. Now that's my kind of kid!
Oh my gosh, Tevye, who wouldn't love that high chair you refurbished?!?! It's gorgeous. So cute that your GD sat in it. I would have too, when I was little and could fit!
Hope you are having a super Saturday!

I just find such great pleasure feeding the birds, they are a hoot to watch. We always celebrated Boxing Day when I was young, due to our wonderful British friend and neighbor

My husband and daughter just love In N Out burgers, I eat them, but I just don't understand why people get crazy about those burgers
Don't get me wrong I never turn one down, but I'm not overly crazy about them. I love me a Bloomin Onion Burger from Outback
My oldest daughter use to work at an In N Out in high school, and her clothes would just reek of grease when I laundered them, maybe that is why

Hubs family moved there in 1959. It has gotten so big and like so many places built every thing on top of each other. I always enjoyed our visits but couldn't live there. Been to the ER there a couple times. I would think it was the dust from the sand storms that made you sick. They can be awful.

When I was a senior in high school and living in VA, I wanted to go to college either in Albuquerque or Hawaii. LOL (My rebellious nature, wanted to get far away from home.) I ended up at The College of William and Mary, about 45 minutes away from my home. LOL
But I had found thoughts of a different lifestyle out in NM.
