So my daughter and her husband got home this morning from Las Vegas visiting his grandma, and while carrying bags up the steps to their condo, my SIL fell on the steps and cut his chin up pretty bad. My daughter called me again from the ER, the doctor is doing the stitches, because the cut is so deep, and the doctor has no idea how he didn't break his jaw or any teeth  They have been in the ER for hours now, so hopefully they will be coming home soon.
Wow, I am glad he is okay No Rose.  an angelic monkey

should have looked at the second one before posting. He sure seems to be proud of those ugly teeth lol.

NRCG, I am so glad he was not hurt any worse than he was. Yes he was lucky he didn't break something. My sister went back to college in her late 30's early 40's to get her teaching degree, she was walking to class with her backpack on and her hands in her pockets. There was construction around the school and they had a roped off area for students to walk in and she tripped on a piece of rebar that was sticking up. She landed face first on the curb and broke 5 bones around her eye and cheekbone. She had to have 4 or 5 surgeries  to get it to heal right. Bones punctured her sinus and she still has a hard time with them.
OMG how awful Darla. That is horrible.

My Dr. told me to try something when I was first diagnosed with diabetes. He told me to check my blood sugar then take a bite of boiled potato and hold it under my tongue for 5 minutes, then spit it out and check my blood sugar again. I was shocked that just holding it under my tongue my blood sugar shot up over a hundred points. Potatoes and rice will run it up in just a little bit higher than a teaspoon of sugar.

Wow!! thats why i am trying to eat healthy foods, and trying to "cut" carbs, i love carbs is the hard thing, i would eat potatoes, bread cheeze and noodles every meal  if i could.  So i love veggies to so i am making a double batch of my fav salad dressing, buying lots of salad, veggy and sandwhich fixins. whole wheat bread too. going to try to not have carbs for breakfast bc most likely will have bread at lunch if i have a sandwhich and maybe a small carb with dinner

Scarey, just try to switch from the potatoes and high starch foods, like rice, corn, butterbeans. Your body has to have so many carbs per meal to make energy for your body. Just leaving off sweets will make a huge difference. They are empty calories anyway. They do nothing but add calories. Cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, green beans , onions, bell pepper, celery are all veggies that you can eat almost limitless amounts. Watch your salad dressings as most have alot of fat.

That generally what im going to do, i love stir frys and salads, the dressing i like is home made it sounds very weird but it my very favorite!!

it is a benihanas dressing and is the one they use at like shojis and japanese food places

it has lemon juice, celery, onion, rice vinegar, peanut oil, ketchup, soy sauce, lil sugar, lil salt, lil pepper, fresh ginger and i believe that is all blend it and mmmmmmmmm!!!

i like to eat it over chopped tomatoes with a few sunflower seeds

lots of chicken too

The mug shots that Scarey posted got me to thinking about something that happened here in our little town. We have a guy that is a RSO. We all talk about how these sob's need to be put in jail and never let out. Or neutured and such. You cannot rehabilitate them no way you try. Front page news a couple of years back in our smalltown paper. A farmer called the cops on this rso for having sex with his horses. He would bring a bucket of feed and call the horses to  the edge of the woods, he would then pour the feed on the ground and stand on the bucket to have sex with the horse. The farmer caught him in the act and filled his butt with buckshot. He has been caught more than once having sex with dogs or anything else he can find. He is one sick excuse for a human. But at least he hasn't bothered a child in recent years. The farmer should have killed him when he had the chance.
Darla, he should be in prison for cruelty to animals and I am sure there are other laws broken too. If I were the farmer, it wouldn't have been buckshot, he would have been hit with a .22 straight in the groin. He would never do that again to another animal.

I will have to ask my son what amount of time he got. I do know he had to serve some time, just don't remember how much. He is really a sick pos. I am surprised the guy didn't shoot to kill. He is a mean man anyway.

Scarey...have you tried the whole wheat noodles. They taste good and are god for you. Noodles are not a bad carb if eaten in moderation.

He is home now sleeping, so I don't know if he will have a big scar or not, I'm sure he will.

i am sure he will have a scar too.

when i was about 12 or so i was riding my bike in the dark out into the street, and a car came by with no headlights and i almost hit it (car would have won) so i turned my handles real sharp to turn the other way, well i turned too sharp and went directly over the handle bars and chin first into the asphalt.... my cousin was cracking up, i was like wtf??? and wiping the rocks off my chin.

my cuz quit laughing when i got to the driveway light and she saw it was blood all over my sleeves and me, then she informed me i was bleeding to death and i went inside screaming bloody murder!!

my mom had me lay back in a recliner to asess the damage and she said she coul have (if she tried) fit both thumbs into the hole in my chin..

went to the dr, and luckily it was my personal dr since newborn and she just put butterfly bandages on it and put them on in a way that it healed under my chin rather than below my lip, and i must admit i have a rather large scar

Texas Woman Calls 911, Says Husband Won't Eat Dinner

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

KERRVILLE, Texas —  Prosecutors in Kerrville will review the case of a woman accused of calling 911 to complain that her husband refused to eat his dinner.

A police report says the 53-year-old woman at the scene was also yelling "about things that happened two weeks ago."

A pair of 911 calls on Friday, including a hang-up and a woman heard screaming, led to police dispatched to the residence.

Officer Paul Gonzales says police were told by her that "her husband did not want to eat his supper."

Police say the woman has called 911 about 30 times over six months for non-emergency reasons, such as she could not find her clothes. She now faces charges of 911 abuse.
They are lucky I don't call 911 with everything I lose. Don't have to worry about my husband not eating a meal though

Oh Lord....9 people ...6 of them children died in an apt. complex fire in Mississippi last night or early this morning. Children ranged in age from 2-6. Was in an older complex that may not have had smoke detectors. How sad.

How awful  You would think that smoke detectors are a must in all apt buildings, homes I can see they can't enforce, but places to rent that should be something that has to be.

It is a law here in S.C. that all rental houses have to have them furnished by the landlord. Apts. also. I didn't catch all of the story on our local news, but they did say something about them not having the smoke detectors.

Morning all.  Slept in and staying in my PJ's today.  It is snowing so guess I am shoveling snow in my PJ's later.  JSM your trip sounds like you have a lot of fun planned.  Have you ever gone snowmobiling before?  They are fun, make sure you have a full face mask or cover the skin on your face well and stay on the paths!!!!  It is really dangerous to go off them as you could trigger a nasty avalanche.  I so want to see pictures of skating.  Still think you should try snow shoeing
No I don't have a mask or anything to cover my face. Would a scarf work?

Hopefully I can figure out how to enlarge the skating pics tonight when we get back from dinner. It was really fun skating on the pond. There was a little girl there when I got off the ice she told her mom, look there is the ballerina

Scarf would work, they should be giving you helmets with the snowmobiles though.

I am trying to think of ideas fro low cal or low carb breakfasts, when its cold i like warm food but everything is potatoes or bread!!!    trying to get in good shape for the big day (when ever that is) and in life in general this just gave me the ooomph to get goin.. and ideas??

My hubby is on a very low card diet as with all the medication he is on his body metabolises carbs into sugar like crazy and he is now a border line diabetic.  I have several cook books that his Dr recommend as well as websites that have good food plans. Let me know if you are interested.  His breakfast is usually an omelet with cheese and bacon or ham, or a fruit and yogurt cup with walnuts.

NRCG, once the whole wheat noodles are cooked you can't tell them from regular noodles. Regular noodles also are less starch than rice or potatoes. It takes them longer to break down into sugar than other starches.
