The mugs don't have to be ordered right away, they will stay in Cafepress.  It's just that I'm only going to be taking orders for them for about a week or so.  No rush to purchase, just a sort of rush to decide if you want me to create one for you.

My computer is new, too.  I have a huge memory and hard drive.  Windows Media Player 11, iTunes and Quick Time, Rhapsody, RealMedia and added WinAmp just for Dana at Monkeys insistence.

Now WinAmp bufffers and buffers and goes back to low number of buffering over and over.  Windows Media did that for most of the program as well.  iTunes is off limits with security flaw.

You can't call if you can't understand what they are saying.

I listen to Drudge on Sunday nights, Art Bell sometimes, the Patriot Station lots of times and other programs and don't have any problems with those.

Just making a random call in off the wall and hoping to be even close to whatever they are discussing is not something most people are going to do.  I like to know what has already been said, etc. but that's just me.

I just got through listening to the show on podcast. Another good Show Red and Dana!  Like Red said "Every time Aruba thinks this case is going to go away, something new about it comes up." The sad part about this case is that we all know who Natalee was last with. We all know that she was last seen with the J2K. We all know that the three main suspects lied to authorities about where they dropped Natalee off at that night. Why?! Because, she was not ever "dropped off" anywhere. Not on her own two feet. Crying or Very sad  Something bad happened, very bad. We want to know what that was, and why it happened. We want to know where Natalee is right now! We will not let this story go away, not without answers. No answers, no tourism=no $$$$ for Aruba.

There is a security flaw in Apple Quick Time and iTunes so I had to use Media Player and restart it every couple of minutes for most of the program.

Link to information on iTunes and Quick Time Critical and Unrepaired Security flaw

I have used Quick Time for years and am limited in downloading speed buffer by a 56k modem; so if I wish to really hear Dana live, with out pauses, I have to go into "town" for WiFI or visit a friend who has DSL.

Been looking on the Apple Support and Security sites for the above ref. None yet but the French just announced this 2 days ago.

I subscribe to CERT Security and many security newletters re; computer baddies so will look there. I also subscribe to many Mac newletters and haven't seen it; if do will update you.

Thanks,  IBE

PS... maybe in your browser you'd like to set it so it notifies via certificates of any URL that you are going onto when the URL's real certificate doesn't match the one coming in. Mine notifies me and then gives me a choice to continue into that URL which doesn't match where I thought I was going. Sometimes a pain, but mostly not because of what it does for it doesn't happen that often.

This was emailed to me by front page poster Tibrogargan. Tibrogargan though the cat lovers in the forum might enjoy it  Laughing

Cat gets bank credit approval
Kate Jones
January 03, 2007 11:00pm

MESSIAH Campbell was considered a good enough credit risk to be given a card with a $4200 limit – which was surprising considering he's a cat.

His Melbourne owner Katherine Campbell wanted to test the limits of her bank's identity screening process and applied for the Visa credit card on Messiah's behalf.
She was amazed when it was approved.

"I just couldn't believe it," she said yesterday. "People need to be aware of this and banks need to have better security."

Ms Campbell applied for Messiah's credit card through the Bank of Queensland two weeks ago.

She already had a credit card with the bank and wanted to see whether a second card for the same account would be approved for Messiah.

She filled out an additional credit card application form in Messiah's name, including his address and age, and sent it to the bank.

Ms Campbell said the bank requested identification from Messiah but days later sent him a credit card without receiving any proof of identification.

Ms Campbell said the envelope containing her cat's credit card, the letter inside and the credit card itself were all addressed to Messiah Campbell.

To make matters worse, Ms Campbell – as the primary credit card holder – said she was not notified that a secondary credit card attached to her account had been issued.

Ms Campbell said she was shocked by how simple it was to bluff the bank's security system.

"It's a bit scary and it's a big problem," she said. "It was very easy to do and I'm not even a professional crook."

A Bank of Queensland spokeswoman said the credit card had been issued to the cat in error.

"We have investigated the issue and it appears the bank has made an error," she said. "We apologise as this should not have happened."

Although the bank will not be taking legal action against Ms Campbell, the spokeswoman said the person signing the application form should not give misleading or fraudulent information.

"It is also important to remember that for an application to be approved, the customer must sign to confirm the information they have given is true and is not misleading or fraudulent," she said.

Messiah's credit card has since been cancelled but his credit status doesn't stop there.

Ms Campbell again challenged security measures when she applied for her cat to be a secondary account holder on her electricity bill.

The ploy worked and Messiah's name was added to Ms Campbell's Red Energy electricity bills.

A Red Energy spokeswoman said no responsibility rested with the secondary card holder and there was no problem with having a pet's name on a customer's electricity bill.

"We never intended for people to sign up their pets as secondary account holders but we respect our customers' wishes," she said. "However, we doubt that their pets will be able to take full advantage of the service."

My, Klaas, they are giving credit to anybody! I hope the cat doesn't get in hock for being overcredit and then having to cut down on cat food! Laughing  Laughing

Anna I remembered some news early Dec. about QuickTime so have found it.

This is all I can find so far about a security breach and QuickTime.. seems MySpace is having trouble.... http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/12/04/myspaceqt/index.php Dec. 12, 2006
MySpace worm uses QuickTime for exploit
By  Jeremy Kirk, IDG News Service

The social networking site MySpace.com is under what one computer security analyst calls an “amazingly virulent” attack caused by a worm that steals log-in credentials and spreads spam that promotes adware sites.

The worm is infecting MySpace profiles with such efficiency that an informal scan of 150 found that close to a third were infected, said Christopher Boyd, security research manager at FaceTime Communications.

MySpace, owned by News Corp., is estimated to have at least 73 million registered users.

The worm works by using a cross-scripting weakness found around two weeks ago in MySpace and a feature within Apple’s QuickTime multimedia player.

The exploit starts with a user who visits a MySpace profile infected with an embedded QuickTime movie. The movie loads JavaScript code that overlays a row of menu options on a MySpace profile with a bogus menu.

A QuickTime function, called the HREF track, can direct the player to use JavaScript commands to load Web pages into a browser frame or window.

The JavaScript feature in QuickTime has legitimate uses, “but there are a lot of legitimate uses for technology that can be misused,” said Ross Paul, senior product manager with Websense.

If an option in the bogus menu is clicked, the user is directed to a fake log-in page hosted on another server where the person’s log-in details are captured.

Websense has posted a screenshot of the fake log-in page.

MySpace’s “seemingly random tendency” to expire user sessions or log out users makes it less noticeable to victims that an attack is under way, according to a Nov. 16 advisory by the Computer Academic Underground.

Additionally, the worm places an embedded QuickTime movie on the user’s profile, which will then repeat the infection process for anyone who visits the profile.

The worm has another malicious function. Once a profile is infected, the worm sends spam to other people in the user’s contact list.

Those spam messages contain a file that appears to be a movie but instead is a link to a pornographic site that also hosts adware from Zango, Boyd said. Zango, formerly 180 Solutions, settled last month with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for $3 million over complaints it didn’t properly ask the consent of users before its adware was installed.

Boyd said he’s heard anecdotal stories of users removing the worm’s JavaScript manually from their profile, but the worm reappears after some time if one of their friend’s profiles is infected. Several variants of the worm have also appeared, he said.

While some of the Web sites hosting the malicious QuickTime movie have been taken down, others have appeared, Boyd said.

The Firefox 2.0 browser was flagging some of the bogus log-in sites as phishing sites, Boyd said. However, phishing sites can be active for several hours before they are flagged, he said.

MySpace officials in London couldn’t immediately comment Monday morning.

Maybe a smarter Monkey than I can help us out here... but I still think if your have your certificate notification on in your browser it might catch this ref. above
"If an option in the bogus menu is clicked, the user is directed to a fake log-in page hosted on another server where the person’s log-in details are captured."

One of the reasons I blough along still wilt Netscape it tells me the sites being loaded in on the page in the bottom margin.

Maybe someome can update us on Firefox. I am going to look to see if there has been a patch for QuickTime in the last month.
