Northern Rose....so sorry....I was totally frozen and could not answer you.

Daughter went to college in San Antonio and had friends in Victoria.  Wish I could
help but really know nothing of the underground...or baby brokers for that matter.

Again...thanks.

I am just curious if Victoria has something special (festival, crafts, parties, cheap clothes etc)  that would cause her to go there.  I do not know TX other than two trips , both to Plano.  Was wondering if there is something that would cause her to go there other than connected to Gabriel.

Any colon cleansing in Victoria, TX...?

Tempe mom of missing child could face charges

The Tempe mother of a missing 8-month-old boy who told her boyfriend she killed their son could be facing charges of providing false information to law enforcement after accusing the father of taking the child during an unrelated incident last month.

Elizabeth Johnson, 23, had left her son, Gabriel Johnson, with Tammi and Jack Smith of Scottsdale for at least six hours on Dec. 9, but she accused Logan Scott McQueary, 25, of taking him, according to a Tempe police report.

The Smiths, who had expressed an interest in adopting the baby, were named by Tempe police on Thursday as persons of interest in the case. Authorities believe the Smiths are withholding information on Gabriel's whereabouts.

Johnson, who was last seen with Gabriel in San Antonio, Texas on Dec. 26, was arrested in Miami Beach, Fla., on Dec. 30 without the child. Johnson had called and text messaged McQueary on Dec. 27 and told him she had killed the baby and left its body in a dumpster inside a baby bag. She is not cooperating with authorities in the search of the child, according to police.

Johnson told McQueary in the messages that she was leaving the country and would tell McQueary where the body of the baby was when she did, according to a Maricopa County Superior Court document.

Authorities are investigating whether Johnson gave the baby away. The Smiths had expressed interest in adopting Gabriel, but McQueary said he wanted to keep his son and did not sign any adoption papers.

Johnson had placed an ad on craigslist seeking a nanny to take the baby, according to the police report taken when she left the baby with the Smiths. Charges are pending from Tempe city prosecutors, according to the report.

Johnson lost custody of Gabriel to McQueary when she failed to appear for a custody hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court on Dec. 28, according to court records.

The Smiths on Thursday offered to take a polygraph test, but Tempe police confirmed on Friday that investigators only questioned the couple.

Johnson currently is being held without bail in the Dade County (Fla.) Jail and is scheduled to attend an extradition hearing in Dade County Superior Court on Jan. 19.

Yep NR, I tired too but I take it that when she reported Logan stole Gabriel about a month ago she had placed an ad on CL.... and that could very well be how she met the Smiths, not some flipping airport! I don't buy that story at all GMAB. I am hoping Gabriel is alive and WELL, that if she DID give him up she hooked up with the right peeps and not a porno, but this isn't looking so well. I pray Gabriel is found an angelic monkey Goodnight all.

Couple named persons of interest in missing baby case take lie detector test  (with video)

TEMPE - The case of missing baby Gabriel takes another turn as police turn to a lie detector test to get the answers they say Jack and Tammi Smith won't provide on their own.

The Smiths, who claim to be Gabriel's adoptive parents are now persons of interest in his disappearance.

It all started December 18, when Johnson left Tempe with baby Gabriel.

After Gabriel's father refused to sign papers relinquishing his rights to the boy.

Mom and baby were last seen December 26 in San Antonio.

On December 28, she lost custody of Gabriel after failing to show up for a hearing in Maricopa County.

On December 30, police in Miami arrested Johnson, but found no sign of the baby.

On December 31, Tempe police asked the public for help finding the baby.

That's when the media circus started.

FBI Agents Search A Nashville House For Baby Gabriel
Elizabeth Johnson's Arrest In Miami Led To Home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Exactly what evidence Elizabeth Johnson offered that led authorities to Nashville is still unclear. But it was enough to have FBI agents rush to a house in Nashville, a city to which her friends say Elizabeth has never been.

"We went, knocked on the door, and interviewed the occupants and have been unable at this point to locate the child," said FBI Special Agent Keith Moss.

Unfortunately, that search was just the latest in a growing list of dead ends.

But as CBS5 reported Thursday night, Tammi and Jack Smith, the couple who tried to adopt Gabriel and who have been named as persons of interest in his disappearance, used to live in Nashville.

And late Friday night, Tammi Smith told CBS5 she knew what the Nashville search was all about. It was the home of a friend of hers, Janet Morris, who she asked to counsel Elizabeth Johnson about what she could face legally if she tried to disappear with Gabriel.
"I called (Elizabeth) and said 'look, you've got to call this girl Janet,' and so Janet basically, she called her and as far as I know, Janet told her the same thing that we've been telling her and begged her to come back. 'And if you don't come back, you could be facing these charges and these charges,'" said Tammi Smith.

Tammi Smith also explained a post on her Facebook page, where she asked people to pray for Elizabeth because the mother had found 'undercover' help in Texas to change her's and Gabriel's identities. Smith took Elizabeth's comments to mean that she had found a women's shelter that provided "extra" and illegal services.....

<Snipped>

But investigators still believe the Smiths know more than they are telling.

Elizabeth Johnson's grandfather, Bob Johnson, even felt the Smiths were speaking in code to her when we recorded a group phonecall including the Smith's and Elizabeth from jail in Miami.

What is clear is that the Smiths, even then, were trying to clear their names.

"Did we try really hard to get you back here?" asked Tammi Smith. "Yes," replied Elizabeth Johnson. "And did we offer to get you an attorney and help you to keep custody?" Smith asked. "Yeah," said Johnson.

Elizabeth did lie about the location of her car several times during the call.

After the polygraph tests Friday, investigators hope to soon know whether the Smiths are lying now.

I found this on Tammi's Healing waters myspace page. I have been in church since I was a baby, and I have read the Bible front to back and was not aware that when Jesus was crucified that he went to hell when he died. Am I wrong?

Heroes
All of my children, my husband, my sisters and Jesus Christ...He didn't have to die on that cross, all he had to do was say the word. but he chose to be tourchered and be put to death and go to hell to fight Satin, just to save us from our sins...So Jesus is my biggest hero of all!

Whaaaattt??? What religion is she?

All of these connections have FBI agents in Nashville very active in the search.

"As leads develop to the area, Tammi Smith is one individual who formerly resided in Nashville. As leads are developed by the Phoenix field offices, the Miami field offices, we're following up on those," said Special Agent Moss.

Friday, the Smiths agreed to take polygraph tests to prove they have no knowledge of where Gabriel may be. The results of those tests have not been released, but the Smiths remain resolute.

"There would be nothing that they could charge us with because we have done nothing we've done everything that the police have asked us," Tammi Smith said.

But investigators still believe the Smiths know more than they are telling.

Elizabeth Johnson's grandfather, Bob Johnson, even felt the Smiths were speaking in code to her when we recorded a group phonecall including the Smith's and Elizabeth from jail in Miami.

Mom of missing child may face charges

Mike Sakal, Tribune

January 8, 2010 - 6:51PM

Northern Rose....so sorry....I was totally frozen and could not answer you.

Re the reason for Victoria...really do not know.  I remember it as a smallish Texas town
and when checking the links, a high mexican population....but who really thinks the
baby has gone to Mexico...?  He might well be right there in Victoria.

Daughter went to college in San Antonio and had friends in Victoria.  Wish I could
help but really know nothing of the underground...or baby brokers for that matter.

Again...thanks.

Mere, it is funny (odd) you said this. I was reading an article the other day on this case and my daughter walked in and sat down beside me, looked over and asked what happened to him (she saw his photo but not the title) I asked what she meant and she said she saw him with a Hispanic couple in a store here and when she asked what his name was, the woman said Gabriel, she told them how cute he was and walked away, when she looked back, she said the couple were visibly arguing but she was not sure why. I dismissed it because she makes up stories, how ever, she told me this before I told her he was missing and I just did not think a Hispanic couple would 'adopt' a white baby. She was visibly shaken when I told her he was a missing baby. I just don't know what to think.

I wanted to add, I also dismissed what my daughter said, not just because of her history of story telling, but because I felt EJ had killed baby Gabe.

baby has gone to Mexico...?

Wow - did you call LE?

Hi, no, I did not because again, my daughter is known for making up stories and I still think that if someone had him, he would have been turned over already.  I just have a very difficult time believing my daughter on things such as this, I mean she makes up stories on stupid little things as well as important things, so I never know when to believe her. I would hate to waste LE time for one of her trumped up stories so I just don't know what to do.

Searching  That is a hard call for sure. Might you call LE and tell them what she said but kind of tell them why you are having a hard time believing her etc. If it's nothing they can just put it down as bad lead. But if was him it might help find him. Hope that helps. Like I said it's a hard call for sure.
