Pilgrim's Pride Pays $4.5M to End Immigrant Probe
Pilgrim's Pride agrees to pay $4.5M to end federal probe into illegal immigrant workers

The more I read about these things, the more it looks like the government is skaking down American business.

Why aren't they stopping illegal aliens at the border?  Shutting down the pathway of drugs and human beings?

It seems like the government is responsible for allowing these people to come here.  Now, Obama wants to give them absolution for all their crimes, if they pay a $500 fine.  What a deal.  Americans and those here legally don't get those kinds of benefits.

"There were points in time in which companies took the position that if the applicant had a valid social security (number) that matched a name, then that was sufficient information. It didn't matter that they knew other people were using the exact same number in another state or ... that this person had worked for the company under a different name," he said.

If a single company can figure out that more thant one individual is using the same Social Security number, why can't the government?  Why aren't they using these lists to track down wrongdoers?  Those that use false or stolen identities?

How is it possible that a single Social Security number can come back with multiple valid names?  Is this a flaw in the database?

Pilgrim's Pride announced Monday it was emerging from bankruptcy protection. Under a reorganization plan, Pilgrim's Pride will sell a 64 percent stake in the company, worth $800 million, to Brazilian beef giant JBS — the world's biggest meat producer.

Another American company emerging from bankruptcy being sold to a foreign company.  Are American taxpayer dollars being used to make this happen?  Reminds me of GM & Chrysler.

Homeland Security & Obama seem to want to gut and destroy E-Verify and the Real American Act of 2005.

Why?

SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Brazil's BNDESPar, the shareholding and investment arm of the government's National Development Bank, or BNDES, has agreed to acquire debentures to be issued by JBS SA (JBSS3.BR), the world's largest beef producer, JBS said Wednesday in a statement.

JBS is planning to issue up to $2 billion in convertible debentures. BNDESPar, however, did not disclose how much of that total it will acquire. The debentures can also be acquired by other investors.

The debentures will be convertible into stock of the JBS subsidiary in the U.S.

The JBS U.S. subsidiary is planning to hold an initial public offering of shares in the first quarter of 2010.

"The funds shall be fully allocated to pay up the capital increase of JBS USA, with the purpose of completing the transaction reflected in the Stock Purchase Agreement whereby JBS USA, after subscription of new shares, will become the owner of shares representing sixty-four percent (64%) of the total voting capital of Pilgrim's Pride Corporation," JBS said in its statement.

$800 million is pretty cheap for something worth $2 billion.

Does this mean the government of Brazil will own Pilgrim's Pride?  How much American money via global cap and trade is going to protect the 'rain forest' in Brazil?  Now the government of Brazil owns the beef company?

Obama style global socialism?

Obama takes over the car companies, jobs, and research funded by taxpayers bleeds to overseas owners?

No jobs for Americans.

I would imagine that the new owners of Pilgrims Pride will not have to worry about hiring illegal aliens.  The government has taken their $4.5 million from previous managment.

Will Amnesty and Immigration Reform provide a corporate safety net?  Unlimited worker visas?

High unemployment in the US and unlimited workers?

Will the Batista family qualify for Obama's new business program?  Bring your extended family and qualify for unlimited taxpayer funded welfare and education benefits?

Q. JBS will become an even bigger player in the North American animal protein industry with its pending acquisition of Pilgrim's Pride. Where do you see them going in 2010 and what will be the effect on the cattle business?

A. JBS will continue to strengthen its U.S. beef business by spending millions of dollars on plant upgrades and to its distribution system. It intends to start selling more value-added, including case-ready, products. It is developing ways to work more closely with cow-calf producers because it wants producers to be profitable and stay in business.

Few people know that JBS's founder, Jose Batista, is a prominent cattle owner in Brazil. The Batista family recognizes the vital importance of the production sector. One must also remember that packers are middle men who must convert cattle into beef as economically as possible to keep beef competitive with other proteins.

Didn't Obama send money to help the Brazilian state owned oil company?  Is cap and tax money to save the 'rain forest' going to benefit BILLION dollar meat companies in Brazil?

Why isn't Brazil's meat industry saving their own rain forest?

More food stamps, cheaper meat for American tables, and Americans get to pay to save the rain forest.  What a great deal.

Americans have to pay for meat profits and save the rain forest?

No jobs for Americans.

Just more Obama dollars and debt.
