(Updates with upgrade, details) WASHINGTON, Jan 12 (Reuters) - A major magnitude 7.3 quake hit the impoverished country of Haiti on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The epicenter of the quake, which was initially reported a magnitude 7.0 off the coast, was located inland, six miles (10 km) west of Carrefour, close to the capital Port-au-Prince and was only 20.5 miles (30 km) deep.

A major earthquake, of magnitude 7 or higher, is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage. There was no immediate report of damage or casualties.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.

My favorite lady in the cafeteria is from Haiti. I hope her family is okay. She just came back to work after having a stroke.

That was very nice of him  Now I'm sitting here with Irish Creme again in my coffee, my nice walk with the dog didn't turn out to be a nice walk. A lady with two dogs, one got away and went after Zoe, the lady's leash locked and she couldn't reel in the little darling, and I hit the ground trying to divide the dogs now my back feels like I've been plowing a field all day. Then one lady on a bike wheeling while her dog was running along side, she kept going around and around the block, and every time Zoe went bananas barking, all the dogs in the block were barking. I honestly feel like I'm living in a insane asylum, minus the good drugs that go along with it. And my husband sits and watches the military channel all the time.

No Rose, I understand what you are talking about with the family. I hope all is better now after your walk. I think we are related. I really wasn't in the mood to skate, plus I needed to stick around for an audit we were having. They didn't need me after all. Oh well, skating Friday at 4 which works better for me anyways.
